CHRIST, OUR MEDIATOR

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

Topic: CHRIST, OUR MEDIATOR

MEMORIZE: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" 1 Timothy 2:5

SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 8:3-7

³ For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. ⁴ For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; ⁵ who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, "See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain." ⁶ But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. ⁷ For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second."

EXPOSITION:

Jesus Christ is both God and Man. He is the eternal Word of God who left His throne in heaven to come to this world to redeem the depraved man from eternal destruction that our sins have subjected us into. The word of God in John chapter 1 vs 1-4 called Him eternal Word that carries life that is the light of the world – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” He is giver of life – “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11:25-26. He is the resurrection and the life. Through the sin of Adam, men are dead to the required righteousness of God and need a pardon through a mediator, an advocate who will plead our case for us before God. All were done by Jesus Christ our Mediator. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1Timothy 2:5. “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.” Hebrews 8:6. “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” Hebrews 9:15. “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Hebrews 12:24. “…It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34.

STRONG BUT INDISCIPLINE - Part 5

BE CAREFUL OF PRIDE IN YOU

MEMORIZE: “Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.” Proverbs 18:12.

SCRIPTURE READING: Proverbs 16:17-19

“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.”

EXPOSITION:

A man's spirit is a sure indication of the lot that awaits him: if he be humble, he shall find honor; but if haughty, ruin. Pride is an act of self-exaltation. It is seeing oneself as better than others. Jesus told the story or a Pharisee who saw himself better and more religious than a publican in Luke 18:9-14 At the end, Jesus said, “I tell you, this man (publican) went down to his house justified rather than the other (Pharisee): for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” Luke 18:14. God  “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” Psalm 138:6.

Pride will have a fall. Those that are of a haughty spirit, that think of themselves above what is meet, and look with contempt upon others, that with their pride affront God and disquiet others, will be brought down, either by repentance or by ruin. It is the honour of God to humble the proud. The Bible says - "Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place." Job 40:11-12. It is the act of justice that those who have lifted up themselves should be laid low. Pharaoh, Sennacherib, Nebuchadnezzar, were instances of this. Men cannot punish pride, but either admire it or fear it, and therefore God will take the punishing of it into his own hands. Let him alone to deal with proud men

Proud men are frequently most proud, and insolent, and haughty, just before their destruction, so that it is a certain presage that they are upon the brink of it. When proud men set God's judgments at defiance, and think themselves at the greatest distance from them, it is a sign that they are at the door; witness the case of Benhadad and Herod. Concerning Nebuchadnezzar, the Bible says, "While the word was in the king's mouth," Daniel 4:31. Meaning while exercising prideness, God’s anger rose against him and brought him low by giving him the heart of a beast. At the end of seven years, his understanding was restored back to him and he acknowledged God as the ruler of the whole universe. In his word, he said, “34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel 4:34-37

Humility is the opposite of pride. It is the presage of honour and prepares men for it, and honour shall at length be the reward of humility, as he had said before, Proverbs 15:33. That has need to be often said which men are so loth to believe. Don’t learn humility in the hard way like Nebuchadnezzar. It is written, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:6. Therefore let us not fear the pride of others, but greatly fear pride in ourselves.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, help me to humble myself under your mighty hand so that you will not humble me by force in Jesus name.

ii. I renounce pride and its destructive end in Jesus name.

DISOBEDIENCE OF SAUL

MEMORIZE: “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 15:1-9

“1 ¶ Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD. 2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. 3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah. 5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley. 6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. 7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt. 8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.”

EXPOSITION:

The word of God came to Saul to make him king over Israel when he did never think of it. The word said, “When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?” 1 Samuel 15:17. That he became the first king of Israel was his strength. He led the army of God into battle and won on several occasions. But his area of indiscipline was his act of disobedience. God sent him to kill all his enemies – “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” 1 Samuel 15:2,3. But when he got there, he spared their king and captured him alive (against the word of God), possibly to prove his strength and ability – v. 8. The word of God equals disobedience to rebellion and witchcraft - 1 Samuel 15:23. King Saul’s disobedience to God’s message led to his rejection.

The grace (privileges) you are enjoying were all given by God. It could have been given to someone else but He chose you. As an anointed man/woman of God, it is by God’s grace. Why will He send you an errand, and you disobey Him. Concerning king Saul’s disobedience, God was displeased “Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.” 1 Samuel 15:10-11.

Strong but indiscipline in the area of disobedience always has disastrous end. But the arms of the Lord are opened to welcome anyone who will genuinely repent and be ready and willing to obey Him in whatever He will want him/her to do – It is written, “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” Isaiah 1:16-18. Obedience brings blessings. By faith and Obedience of Abraham, God blessed him and made him inherit the promises He had for him – “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” Hebrews 11:8-10.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, help me to obey you in all you want from me henceforth in Jesus name.

REBELLION OF KORAH AND HIS COMPANY

MEMORIZE: “And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?” Numbers 16:4.

SCRIPTURE READING: Numbers 16:1-5

“1 ¶ Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: 2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: 3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? 4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even tomorrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.”

EXPOSITION:

Korah, son of Izhar was a son of Levi, blessed by God to be among the chiefs of his father’s house. He was known and famous among the children of Israel that his influence attracted “two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown” Numbers 16 v. 2. He was a very courageous man in Israel, but when he thought he has arrived, he rebelled against his leader, Moses. He might have thought he is anointed enough to lead Israel to their destination, but God was not interested in his anointing as to lead Israel but in Moses, the man He has chosen.

He gathered two and fifty princes, famous and renown against Moses to silence him and to overthrown him. He confronted Moses with false allegation as he claimed “Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?” He charged him with self exaltation over the children of Israel, the sin that was charged against Lucifer when he wanted to lift his throne above the throne of God. “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:13-14. His end result was that he was dethroned and brought down into hell - “Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” Isaiah 14:15.

Rebellion is an act of conspiracy against God and/or the leadership with motive to bring someone down in order to enrich oneself or gain power or more influence. Korah and his company had been seeing Moses as a devil personified, taken the glory and honor of God to himself, who must be dethroned for a person like him to be enthroned. But God’s assessment and judgment was different. God does not see the way men see and His way is not like ours. He sees and knows all things clearly even when men are lying. He assessed the hearts and motives of Korah and sees that he was guilty. He answered Moses, His servant as he requested. Korah and his three principal perpetrators were buried alive through an unusual earthquake. And the rest of two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown, were consumed with fire of God. “27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. 28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. 29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. 30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. 31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: 32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. 33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. 34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. 35 ¶ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.” Numbers 16:27-35.

Are you in the company of rebellious? Do you disagree with your boss, leader or minister of God because you believe you can do it better than him? Do you think he received too much of honor from men or lots of honorarium or financial benefits than you expect? Do you wish him falling so you can replace him? God does not see like men. If He is not done with a man yet, no one can replace him. As long as Saul is still alive, David cannot be crowned king in Israel, though God has appointed him the next king and he has been anointed king over the whole Israel. Act of rebellion has never received the blessing of God and will never. Therefore be careful you don’t fight against God while you think you are fighting for Him. You may be strong in receiving God’s blessings and prosperity, but the seed of rebellion is an act of indiscipline that can contaminate all your services before God. Be warned, be careful, don’t be partaker of rebellion.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, I refused to be found fighting against you and your anointed. Help me to live above temptation of rebellion in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, if there is seed of rebellion in me, help me uproot it completely today and set me free from it in Jesus name.

UNCONTROLLED APPETITE FOR FOOD

MEMORIZE: “Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.” Genesis 25:34.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 25:29-34

“29  Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom. 31 But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." 32 And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?" 33 Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”

EXPOSITION:

To be Strong means “To be very powerful and difficult for people to fight against or defeat. To hold an opinion or a belief very firmly and seriously not to be changed by any means. Not easily upset or frightened, nor easily influenced by other people. An act of being determined to do what you want to do, even if other people advise not to. To be firmly established, difficult to destroy or to be defeated...” On the hand, indiscipline is the trait of lacking discipline. It is failure to control your behavior or obey simple rule. To be strong but indisciplined means lack of control over one’s life, taking one’s strength for granted and not minding or be watchful of one’s weakness.

Every strong man has a weak point. One of the weak point of man we must take care of is uncontrolled appetite for food (glutton). Esau sold his birthright to Jacob because of it. Though he later sought it with bitter tears, but could not get it back – “16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.” Hebrews 12:16-17. God’s word for men who gave themselves to uncontrolled appetite for food is “When you sit down to eat with a ruler, Consider carefully what is before you; And put a knife to your throat If you are a man given to appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, For they are deceptive food.” Proverbs 23:1-3.

Many men of honour have been trapped down with food when they least expected. Food, which is meant for renewal of strength had turned to gate way to death to many men of great destiny. If you are a strong man in wealth, power, skill, fame, influence and achievement, you must watch your weak point. Be careful of what you eat in public and on special invitation. It is written: “For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.” Proverbs 23:21. Being glutton can easily be used by the enemy to entrap the mighty. If Esau had known, he would not have trade his destiny for that one time food. What is sweet can be deadly. Be careful!

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, help me to be disciplined and be guided by your word in Jesus name.

ii. Help me to overcome all my weaknesses and be approved by your grace in Jesus name.

UNCONTROLLED APPETITE FOR SEX

MEMORIZE: “He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.” Job 36:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 16:1-3

“1 Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her. 2 When the Gazites were told, "Samson has come here!" they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. They were quiet all night, saying, "In the morning, when it is daylight, we will kill him." 3 And Samson lay low till midnight; then he arose at midnight, took hold of the doors of the gate of the city and the two gateposts, pulled them up, bar and all, put them  on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.”

Act of indiscipline in any leader (strong man) is like a cancer in the blood that kills. It has ability to destroy life and one’s testimony (destiny). Discipline makes you a man of dignity and honour while indiscipline brings shame and dishonor. Samson was a strong man, one man battalion. He was the only champion warrior without human army. He rose against the Philistines and slew one thousand of them at a time and became a threat to them. He was mighty in all his days and no one could confront or challenge him. But his life of indiscipline finished him. He gave himself to uncontrolled appetite for sex (lust). This led him to disobey God by violating the divine guidance for him. Samson earned disgrace and untimely death due to his indiscipline.

Examine yourself today. Is it not the forbidden things you treasure in? Is God having pleasure in what you cherish? Can God commend you before men for what you are doing? Many children of God, most especially, the men of God, had ended their lives halfway due to lack of discipline. Samson realized this too late. If you a victim of being strong but indiscipline, seek God’s intervention now and He will have mercy and restore you back to your original state of better living.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, don’t let it be too late for me to realize my weakness in Jesus name.

ii. Help me to do the needful today and be blessed in Jesus name.

COVETOUSNESS AND ITS DEADLY END

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

SATURDAY, 23RD APRIL, 2022

TOPIC: COVETOUSNESS AND ITS DEADLY END

MEMORIZE: "“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."” — Hebrews 13:5 NKJV

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 5:20-27.

“20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, "Look, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the LORD lives, I will run after him and take something from him." 21 So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, "Is all well?" 22 And he said, "All is well. My master has sent me, saying, 'Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.'" 23 So Naaman said, "Please, take two talents." And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and handed them to two of his servants; and they carried them on ahead of him. 24 When he came to the citadel, he took them from their hand, and stored them away in the house; then he let the men go, and they departed. 25 Now he went in and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, "Where did you go, Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant did not go anywhere." 26 Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants? 27 "Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever." And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.”

EXPOSITION:

Covetousness, by definition, is an envious eagerness to possess something. It is extreme greed for material wealth. It is reprehensible acquisitiveness, insatiable desire for wealth, personified as one of the deadly sins. Sin of covetousness is an age long sin with deadly end. It makes one not happy or satisfy in what he has but in others’ possessions. King Ahab has many vineyards in good locations, yet the only one belonging to Naboth behind palace is the one he was dying for. He became a murderer because of his covetousness. Right there he received his own judgment – 1 Kings 21:1-21; 2 Kings 9:21-26. Covetousness made Achan to steal what later destroyed  him. He was not contented with what he has, and would not obey the voice of God. He earned untimely death and total elimination of his family members. Joshua 7.

Our Scriptural reading of today told us how covetousness destroyed Gehazi. Elisha possessed double portion of the spirit of his master, Elijah, it was also expected of him to succeed Elisha, but he got his ministerial assignment terminated half way due to his covetousness. He received leprosy of Naaman as the punishment for his covetousness. If he will bear the suffering alone, it would have been better, but even his generations yet unborn will bear it too. Elisha decreed, "Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever." And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.” 2 Kings 5:27.

Be careful of covetousness, it can never satisfy your wants, rather, it will make you an enemy of God. Most of what we coveted after are things we don’t really need to survive in life. Envy and greed are the sponsors of covetousness. Be satisfied in what you have and make use of them to your maximum advantage. Whatever God blesses multiplies and bring joy, not sorrow. Whatever covetousness give us cannot give us lasting joy but sorrow at the end. Henceforth, desist in covetousness and be satisfied in who you are and what you have. If you desire any good thing, ask from God, if it is according to His will, He will surely provide it for you.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, deliver me from the spirit of covetousness and its deadly end in Jesus name.

BE CAREFUL, THERE MAY NOT BE SECOND CHANCE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

FRIDAY, 22ND APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

BE CAREFUL!!! THERE MAY NOT BE SECOND CHANCE.

MEMORIZE: “And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day." So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.” Joshua 7:25.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 27:3-5

“3. Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.”

EXPOSITION:

Second chance is talking of hand of grace being extended to someone to correct his mistake and make his way right. Mistakes are sometimes part of our mortality. But there are common mistakes as well as costly mistakes. While you can easily apologize and correct your common mistakes, costly mistake is very suicidal with grave consequence. Achan made costly mistake in coveting the spoils at Jericho, hid it and God’s anger raged against Israel. ”But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the LORD burned against the children of Israel”. This caused Israel to flee before their enemies (Ai). The consequence of it was that, Achan was fixed out, and stoned to death with his family and all his possessions. There was no room for second chance for him, though he pleaded for it. At this time, God’s anger was appeased.

Another example we want to examine to warn us of costly mistake is Judas Iscariot. He betrayed his Master for thirty pieces of silver to the high priests, scribes and Pharisee to be arrested and crucified. He might have thought that Jesus will disappear and he will just dupe the priest, but it was not so. It was written, “Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.” Matthew 27:3-5. Judas was given the second chance to repent and make his way right but wasted it as he committed suicide by hanging himself.

Be careful of what you are doing against God and humanity, it might have grave consequence and you might not be given second chance to amend your way if not now. Achan and Judas Iscariot lived to regret their living for the errors committed but without second chance. Learn from them so as not to repeat their errors and end like them.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to take heed to my way and actions so as not to end in woes in Jesus Name.

PRACTICAL ATHEISTS

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

THURSDAY, 21ST APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

PRACTICAL ATHEISTS

MEMORIZE: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Tim. 3:5

SCRIPTURE READING: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.” 2 Timothy 3:1-9.

EXPOSITION:

Atheism is simply the absolute denial of God’s existence. Who then is a practical atheist? It is he or her who theoretically believes in God but in practice, leads a life that denies His existence. These are the type of people described in today’s memory verse. How do we know practical atheists in our midst today? Jesus said we should know them by their fruits (Matthew7:20). Apostle Paul in today’s Bible reading list some of the characteristic traits of practical atheists, summed up in their denial of the power to live a godly life in this world. Practical atheists believe that holiness is an illusion and teach others to believe so too, thereby causing people to live a lifestyle of sin. Unfortunately, they have crept into the Church and have succeeded in leading people astray. They are deadly in the sense that they appear to be religious and well-informed, but their conduct contradicts their claim of faith. In 2 Timothy 3:7-8, the Bible describes them in the following terms: “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.”

Practical atheists are found among great Church men and women who use the cover of their successes in ministry to peddle heresies as sound superior teachings. As stated in 2 Timothy 3:8, they are like Jannes and Jambres, who withstood Moses by displaying magical powers to counter the miracles Moses performed in a bid to convince Pharaoh to let the Israelite go (Exodus 7:11-12, Exodus 7:22). Although practical atheists tend to have knowledge through extensive learning, they never come to the knowledge of the truth which sets free from living a life of sin (John 8:32). Some of them are like the Pharisees and Scribes of old. Just as Jesus questioned Nicodemus, a professor of the law, He is asking such people today, “Didn’t you claim you have a Master’s degree or PhD in theology, and yet you don’t know that without holiness no man shall see the Lord? You say you’re a professor of religious history, and yet you don’t know that I Am the same yesterday, today and forever? Don’t you know that My standards cannot be changed by modern society?” mere believe in God is not enough; we must live according to His standards. Even demons believe in the existence of the one true God but that hasn’t changed who they really are (James 2:19). From now on, let your life always conform to your beliefs. Examine yourself to see whether any aspect of your life nullifies your claim of faith in Jesus Christ and His word.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I received the grace to be a true and fruitful Christian In Jesus name.

STOP MAGNIFYING SATAN

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

STOP MAGNIFYING SATAN

MEMORISE: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” - James 4:7

SCRIPTURE READING: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9.

EXPOSITION

Today, many Christians have a wrong portray and view of satan. Merely looking at how they talk and what they are being taught in their various local churches, we will discover that many have made satan bigger than how he is. When many hear the name satan, they tremble. They view him as someone who is so powerful that they need to run away from, while the Bible says we should resist him. These people lack knowledge of who satan really is.

Who exactly is satan? He is called the god of this world (of the unbelievers) (2 Corinthians 4:4). He is not the opposite of God, as if he had equal standing with God, because God has no counterpart. God has no equal. Satan is merely an angel under God's judgment (Matthew 25:41), He is a defeated being (Isaiah 14:12-15; Revelations 12:10-11). Satan is in the business of trying to deceive us. He works by making something look like the truth but it is lie, it is deception. The power of satan is in the lie. If you remove the lie, you remove the power (John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 11:15). Satan attempts to have power over us, but we are told, He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world. The Holy Spirit of God is greater than the spirit of satan. As Christians, we are indwelt by God's precious Spirit. Therefore, satan cannot just exercise his power over us (Romans 8;9).

Finally, you don't have to be another victim of the devil, if you learn to resist him in fervent prayer (James 4:6-7). Satan fears the Christian who prays upon his knees. Likewise, satan cannot fool, mislead, or defeat you, if you know and abide in the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:15).

PRAYER POINTS

i. Lord, I receive the grace to be wiser than the devil in all his cunning ways. I pull down all Satan's strategies that weigh me down, in Jesus' name.

ii. Lord, continue to destroy all the works of the devil over Your church on earth.

HONOUR CHRIST IN YOUR SERVICE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

TUESDAY, 19TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

HONOUR CHRIST IN YOUR SERVICE

MEMORIZE: “Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her” Mark 14:9.

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 14:3-9.

EXPOSITION:

One person’s worship is another‘s waste: it all depend on the heart of the individual. In the scriptures above, the woman’s worship was sacrificial, humble and pure. Her act of service brought criticism from those whose hearts were not right. But their altitudes didn’t stop her from anointing Christ’s feet. She knew whose feet she was anointing. Her service was an intentional act of worship. She was more concerned about honouring Jesus than she was about what other people thought.

Often our worship and service to Jesus is hindered by our fear of what others think. Is this one reason why much of what we do in service is largely forgettable? The reason this woman’s act would be remembered wherever the gospel was preached was because she was doing it for an audience of One; She was doing it for Jesus alone. That motive made the difference in her service, and it will make the difference in ours too.

Father, free me from the fear of others, and let my worship be acceptable in your sight.

Be Aware!

Do all the good you can!

By all the Means you can!

In all the ways you can!

In all the places you can!

At all the times you can!

To all the people you can!

As long as ever you can!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to give you acceptable Worship and service all through my life in Jesus name.

EASTER MONDAY (GALILEE)

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

TOPIC: HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU.

MEMORIZE: Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Isaiah 49:16

SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 5:1-9

1. And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2. And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word l will let down the net. 6. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

EXPOSITION:

God has designed life such that as men, we are dependent on each other. Once in a while, we might need help and may become weary if it does not come (Proverbs 13:12). I have experienced this countless times but God has always helped me. He is the Ever-Present help in the time of need (Psalms 46:1). Sometimes, there may be nobody to help. At other times, those you have trusted may just decide against helping you, but not God. David, in Psalms 27:10 said: “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” Even if everybody were to forsake you in your time of need, God would never do so. However, with God, He will put you first. In Isaiah 49:15, God asked a vital question: “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.”

Can you recall the explosions that occurred in Lagos in 2001?. Many people were so scared that they left their children behind and ran for their lives. When such things happen, mothers forget their suckling children. May we never experience such again in the mighty name of Jesus. At other times too, those who really want to help may have tried their best, but are unable to save the situation. Doctors are great, but once in a while, even they do not have solutions to some health problems. Although some ailments have been termed incurable by man, there is no such thing with God. He does the impossible. Set your love upon God, then call upon Him today. He will answer you (Psalms 91:14-15).

PRAYER POINT:

I join my faith with yours now. Ask for God’s intervention in that area where you need help desperately.

THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

SUNDAY, 18TH APRIL, 2022

EASTER SUNDAY

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

TOPIC: THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE

MEMORIZE: “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 28:1-10

“1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. 9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. 10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.”

EXPOSITION:

Jesus, the Saviour of the world, was arrested, tortured, crucified and died; the world thought it is over for Him. Soldiers were hired to guard his sepulcher against his resurrection, but all in vain. Early morning of Sunday, the King of glory resurrected; the grave, stone and the soldiers could not stop Him. He declared, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25. It is written, “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4. Because in Him is life, He can as well give it to anyone He wills “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” John 11:26. He resurrected gloriously and challenged death; “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” 1 Cor. 15:55. He is the sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the whole world. Through His death, he conquered death and Satan – “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14-15.

Concerning His death, “Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.” John 11:49-50. Little did he know that he was prophesying about the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist said concerning Jesus Christ, saying, “…Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:29, 36. Jesus said, no one can take His life away from Him, therefore, He willingly surrendered it. For this reason He came that He may save the Saviour from eternal condemnation. – “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10:17-18. At His resurrection, “the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:5,6. The tomb was empty; He resurrected bodily. He conquered death, the world and satan. He is alive. He became first born among many brethren – Rom. 8:29. He now sits at the right hand of God interceding for us. Hallelujah!!! Jesus Christ has Risen! He is no longer in the grave!!!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, let the power of your resurrection bring back to live every fortune / destiny in me and my family that enemies have rendered dead in Jesus name.

BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT HIS SINS ARE FORGIVEN

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

SATURDAY, 16TH APRIL, 2022

HOLY SATURDAY

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

Topic: BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT HIS SINS ARE FORGIVEN

MEMORIZE: “Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.”  Romans 4:7.

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 4:6-8; Psalms 103:3; 130:3,4.

EXPOSITION:

Human beings general are born struggling with the ruling and effects of sin in their lives. Sometimes, what we wish to do is not what we are doing. We are victims of sins of omission and sins of commission in most of the time. Many sins were committed ignorantly. What of transgressions and iniquities, etc. If there is no forgiveness of sin, who shall be righteous to have acceptable relationship with Holy God? We thank God for the grace of forgiveness we received through our Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 130:3,4 says “If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.”

The Psalmist in Psalm 103:3 exhorts our souls not to forget all the benefits of God in which forgiveness of our sins is the first on the list. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…” Of a truth, “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.”  John 5:9.

No sin is too big, past and present, that God cannot forgive when we confess it. And no sin is too little that God can ignore without confessing it. The power of sin is the ability it has to condemn us and break our relationship with God, thereby break the hedge of protection on us. We must take advantage of His forgiveness to stay peacefully and secure with Him. Seek His forgiveness always.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, thank you for forgiving me all my sins and redeeming me from the wrath coming upon the world. Help me to walk in the consciousness of this spiritual blessing in Jesus name.

CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

MEMORIZE: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."Galatians 2:20.

SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 2:19-21.

"19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

EXPOSITION:

After the fall of Man, humankind was destined for eternal damnation. Man’s disobedience led to our separation from God  our fallen state could not withstand the presence of the Almighty God. Sin gained power over Man and humankind became victims of their own fleshy desires. But thank God for Jesus Christ, who took the fall for Man and redeemed our lost souls. To be crucified with Christ, simply means that we have totally surrendered to Him, by faith, and have turned away from our own selfish desires and motives. Because of what Christ did, we can confidently stand and say that we are in Him and He is in us. Though we live in our earthly bodies, our spirit has been regenerated. We have been redeemed. We have a glorious future ahead of us, and it is by faith we believe this and continue to live out the will of God for our lives. We live a life of faith now, of total trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God, our Father, who never stopped loving us and never will. He has been there for us far before we know Him or even thought of coming to Him.

The price of our redemption is totally paid in full on the cross at Calvary. Henceforth, I am indebted to Him all through my life to live not even for myself but for Him alone who have redeemed me. Hallelujah!!! I am a bona fide son of God, and joint heir with Christ Jesus. Hallelujah.

PRAYER POINT:

Kindly make this confession with me:

Jesus, my Savior, thank you for what you did for me and for everyone else on this earth. It is because of you and your love, I can confidently say that you live in me. I will continue to confess this until my time to return home, to you, finally comes. Thank you for this beautiful life I now have in you, O Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

BEHOLD THE MAN OF CALVARY

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

THURSDAY, 14TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

Topic: BEHOLD THE MAN OF CALVARY

MEMORIZE: “Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!” John 19:5

SCRIPTURE READING: John 19:1-7

"1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. 4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. 5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! 6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. 7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made himself the Son of God."

EXPOSITION:

If there be one place where our Lord Jesus most fully becomes the joy and comfort of his people, it is where he plunged deepest into the depths of woe. Come hither, gracious souls, and behold the man in the garden of Gethsemane; behold his heart so brimming with love that he cannot hold it in—so full of sorrow that it must find a vent. Behold the bloody sweat as it distils from every pore of his body, and falls upon the ground. Behold the man as they drive the nails into his hands and feet. Look up, repenting sinners, and see the sorrowful image of your suffering Lord. Mark him, as the ruby drops stand on the thorn-crown, and adorn with priceless gems the diadem of the King of Misery. Behold the man when all his bones are out of joint, and he is poured out like water and brought into the dust of death; God hath forsaken him, and hell compasseth him about. Behold and see, was there ever sorrow like unto his sorrow that is done unto him?

All ye that pass by draw near and look upon this spectacle of grief, unique, unparalleled, a wonder to men and angels, a prodigy unmatched. Behold the Emperor of Woe who had no equal or rival in his agonies! Gaze upon him, ye mourners, for if there be not consolation in a crucified Christ there is no joy in earth or heaven. If in the ransom price of his blood there be not hope, ye harps of heaven, there is no joy in you, and the right hand of God shall know no pleasures for evermore. We have only to sit more continually at the cross foot to be less troubled with our doubts and woes. We have but to see his sorrows, and our sorrows we shall be ashamed to mention. We have but to gaze into his wounds and heal our own. If we would live aright it must be by the contemplation of his death; if we would rise to dignity, it must be by considering his humiliation and his sorrow.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your sacrificial death for my redemption and the redemption of the whole world. Help me to hold unto it till I see you face to face in your glory in Jesus name.

A STEP OF FAITH

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

TUESDAY, 12TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

Topic:  A STEP OF FAITH

MEMORIZE: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 11:5-6.

“By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

EXPOSITION:

In your personal opinion… What do you understand it takes for a person to go to heaven? Consider how the Bible answers this question. It is a matter of FAITH.

F is for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God’s forgiveness. “In Him (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” – Ephesians 1:7.

A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available. It is

Available for all. “For God so loved the world in this way; He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.

But not automatic. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 7:21.

I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven.

Because of who He is: God is loving and just. He judges against sin. “Anyone who does not believe is condemned already” John 3:18.

Because of who we are: Every person is a sinner. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.

How can a sinful person enter heaven, when God allows no sin to enter there?

T is for TURN. Turn means repent.

Turn from something – sin and self. “but unless you repent you will all likewise perish” Luke 13:3.

Turn to Someone; Trust Christ only. “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9.

H is for HEAVEN.

Heaven is eternal life.

Here… Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10.

Hereafter… “"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3.

How? …. How can a person have God’s forgiveness, heaven, eternal life, and Jesus as personal Saviour and Lord? By trusting in Christ, calling on Him in faith, and asking Him for forgiveness.

Take the step of faith described by another meaning of FAITH. Forsaking All I Trust Him. Call on Him in fait; then tell someone about the important decision you have made. Grow in your faith and enjoy new friends in Christ by becoming part of His Church and attending the Sunday School class a Bible-believing church has just for you.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I receive grace to increase in my faith in You in Jesus name.

THE MEANING OF TRUST

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

MONDAY, 11TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

THE MEANING OF TRUST

MEMORIZE:“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” (Isaiah 55:11, NLT)

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 37:3-6.

“3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.”

EXPOSITION:

Trust is having confidence in a person of whom you believe cannot disappoint your expectation. We are asked to put our trust in God for everything we desire and prayed for. Let’s look at the meaning of trust as arrange in acronym:

T = THANK God that he will accomplish his purposes in us.

R = RECEIVE the revelation that leads to renewal.

U = UNDERSTAND. Understanding leads to conviction and results in our taking action.

S = SPIRIT. Through the power of the cross and the Holy Spirit, we are crucified to the flesh and to the lures of the world.

T = TRANSFORM by degrees as we forget the past, reach forward, and press toward the call of God in Christ Jesus.

Never let go of the trust handle for everyday living. Those who practice trusting in the Lord will be blessed!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to put my trust in you for your blessing upon all my life’s endeavors in Jesus name.

ALTARS IN YOUR HOME

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

SATURDAY, 9TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

TOPIC: ALTARS IN YOUR HOME

MEMORISE: "A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out." (Leviticus 6:13).

SCRIPTURE READING: Leviticus 6:12-13

EXPOSITION

If the home is in order, the church and, by extension, the society will be in order. Altar is a very significant point. It is a place where sacrifice is offered. If there is no altar, no platform for making atonement for sin *(Lev. 9:10)*. Christ's blood was shed on the cross of Calvary, the altar where our sins' remission was perfected. The patriarchs of faith made altars at every significant encounter with God *(Gen. 8:20; 22:9; Exod. 17:15)*. Today, altar has become mobile, i.e. in our hearts. At home, there should be 5 altars that should work together for edification (Eph. 4:1ff):

1)  Father's altar: As the head, he must keep an altar. He must have personal relationship with God. On his personal altar, he prays, meditates in the Word, and keeps vigils. If the father can do this, Satan cannot gain entrance into the house *(Ezek. 33:7)*, He is the watchman and gateman of his house.

2)  Mother's altar: Just like the father, the mother should have her personal altar. Even though they (husband and wife) share the same room and bed, the two principal altars cannot clash. It depends on how they handle it.

3)  Father and mother's altar: Following the mother's altar is the combination of father and mother on the altar. If we have fathers and mothers who dont pray together, then we have shambolic home! Husbands and wives who do not pray together lose 9000 since two shall chase 10000, and One can only chase 1000!

4)  Children's altar: The children also are not left out. They are to be taught how to pray before coming to the general family altar. Personal quiet time of the children should not be toyed with, for it will assist them *(Prov. 22:6).

5) General family altar: This is the point where every member of the family gathers for prayers, studies, discussions, rebukes, praises, vigils, etc. All members must be made to participate in this regular refreshing process.

It is high time we returned to this order, for things to be orderly in our homes. Christ-centred families joyfully embrace this. Stay united in the Lord.

PRAYER POINTS

Holy Spirit, ignite Your fire upon the altars that must be in my home, so that we can be on fire for You.

DON'T BE THE ENEMY OF YOUR DESTINY.

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

FRIDAY, 8TH APRIL, 2022

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

General Overseer

DON'T BE THE ENEMY OF YOUR DESTINY.

MEMORIZE: “For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.” (Psalm 44:3, NKJV)

SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 8:11-19

11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: 12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; 16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that He might humble thee, and that He might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; 17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish his covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

EXPOSITION:

The world elevates people whom it proclaims are self-made individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory given to them by the world. But in reality, all life is sourced by God. In the verse from Psalm 44:3, the Lord made it perfectly clear that possession did not come by their own sword or by their own arm. The possession of the land was brought about by the right hand of the Lord, his arm, and the light of his countenance. He favored them!

In the same manner, believers are not self-sufficient people who can claim any of our “successes” as being of our own making. Any glory should go only to God. This principle is proclaimed throughout Scripture. The blessing of the Lord is responsible for what we have. The Lord has given people who have wealth the power to gain such wealth. In fact, we are warned not to forget the Lord when things seem to be going right. It is only by the Lord’s provision that we can enjoy life in this world. If the Lord blesses us in our endeavors for him, we must be careful to make sure that any glory goes to him and not to us. We should play to one audience, and that is God himself.

The only words I want to hear someday are, “Well done, faithful servant. Now enter into the joy of your Lord.” Today, ask yourself: Am I making sure that any accomplishment is sourced in God alone, and that it is by his provision and favor I have been able to experience it?

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I acknowledge that You are the source of true riches and wealth, bless me greatly and I will return the glory back to You in Jesus name.

SEVEN REASONS WHY YOU CAN BE VICTORIOUS:

1. Being truly born again(John 1:11-12, 1 John 3:8-9)

VICTORY OVER SELF - Part 1

VICTORY OVER SELF – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” Proverbs 16:32

EXPOSITION:

Dearly beloved, one of the most crucial victories is that of victory over self. Overcoming yourself is greater than overcoming a city. When you win the battle over yourself, other battles become easier to face and win.

THE 3 MAJOR ENEMIES ARE

(a) Death: This is the last enemy everyone must face (1 Corinthians 15:26; Hebrews 9:27).

Be happy that Jesus has conquered death for us (1 Cor.15:51-57)

(b) The devil: He goes about seeking whom to devour(1 Pet 5:8),but God's eyes go to and from to show us mercy(2 Chronicles 16:9)

Also Jesus defeated the devil. So all left for you to do is to rebuke him.

(c) Yourself: Self goes with you everywhere

- self sleeps with you

- self wakes with you and is your biggest ally but God is always for you (Rom 8:31)

All forms of other enemies bow at the name of Jesus as you get aligned with Jesus(John 3:16).

EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO COULD NOT CONTROL SELF:

1. Cain: He was a murderer so became a first born vagabond(Genesis 4:1-14)

2. Esau: He couldn't control his stomach and ended up forfeiting his birthright (Gen.25:29-31)

3. Samson: Despite his great anointing, he fell due to lust and ended up a blind prisoner of his enemies(Judges 16:1-end)

PRAYER POINT:

1. Father thank You for saving me.

2. Lord Jesus, as You overcame, let me overcome all temptations that come my way.

3. Father, by Your power: keep me holy and pure till the very end.

4. Holy Spirit, help me to pray victorious prayers.

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE - Part 4

WHY SHOULD WE PRAISE GOD?

1. Because He is the great King over all the earth – Psalm 47:2.

2. He created Heavens and the Earth and everything therein and He is God over them all – Gen. 1:1; Psalm 24:1.

3. Because He made us, we are His – Psalm 100:3.

4. Because He forgives us ALL our Sins & iniquities – Psalm 103:3.

WHY PEOPLE DON’T PRAISE GOD TODAY?

1. It is because men don’t know the greatness of God over their lives and their predicaments.

2. It is because men focus on their problem instead of the victory after the problem.

3. It is because men by nature are ingrate and easily forget the goodness of God.

4. It is because devil who knows the potency of praise/worship will not want his captives to be freed, thereby disallowing them from walking the route of praise/worship, an easy avenue to healing and deliverance.

ACTION POINT:

Take time to praise God with whole of your heart.

GOD'S EYES ARE ON YOU.

TOPIC: GOD’S EYES ARE ON YOU.

MEMORISE: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 139:7-12

7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8. If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

EXPOSITION:

God is Omnipresent- He is everywhere and sees everything at the same time. It does not matter what you are going through, He is right by your side. When the three Hebrew boys were facing King Nebuchadnezzar, to an outsider, it may have appeared they were on their own without any help whatsoever. However, the boys were confident; they knew who they believed. They were even bold enough to add that they would still not bow to any idol if God decided not to rescue them.

Many times, we don’t feel God by our side when we are facing trials, but He is there. You will realize it when you are in the furnace and the fire burns off your chains leaving you unharmed. God’s eyes are on you even when you are about to commit sin. A Pastor is said to have taken a female member of his church to a hotel with the intent of committing fornication. When they got in and the Pastor tried to touch her, she said “Sir, we looked left and right to be sure no one could see us, but we did not lock up. God can see us” She could feel that God could see them, so she fled.

You cannot hide anything from God. You may pretend to people in Church, but He knows your secrets. Your spouse may not be able to access your phone, but God knows all your conversations; you can deceive everyone but not Him. According to Luke 8:17, knowing that God can expose you should make you repent. “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.” Don’t continue in sin because sooner or later, every secret will be made open. I hope you make a change immediately. He has not yet revealed your sin because He wants you to have a chance to repent. If you refuse to repent, He will expose you and that would be dangerous.

God is omnipresent and omniscient. Don’t wait to be exposed; make amends where necessary right away. Tomorrow may be too late.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to understand that my life is in your hand and that you see all my doings. Create Your fear in me in Jesus name.
