TAKE THE HIGH WAY

THURSDAY, 26TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  TAKE THE HIGH WAY

MEMORIZE: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 26:36-46

“Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there." 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed 38 Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me." 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done. 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 "Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand."”

EXPOSITION:

If you want to accurately understand the leading of God, then get better acquainted with His high ways than you are with the world’s low ways. Focus your time and attention on Him and His Word. Jesus operated that way. The Bible says He got up long before daylight to pray. Sometimes He spent the entire night communicating with God. Jesus made spending time with God the No. 1 priority in His life. That’s how He knew what God wanted Him to do. That’s how He perfectly pleased Him. He spent time with Him. Jesus’ disciples knew by watching His lifestyle that His power was connected to the time He spent praying. That’s why they asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). The instructions Jesus received in those times with God weren’t always easy. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He sweated blood and said, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39).

You may be in a type of Garden of Gethsemane right now. God may be telling you to do something your flesh just doesn’t want to do. He may have been telling you for months to get up earlier every morning so you can spend more time in prayer or in the Word. And you’ve been thinking for months, Yes, I really ought to do that...and then hitting the snooze button on your alarm and going back to sleep. Perhaps God has been speaking to you about other adjustments you need to make in your life. He may be saying, This is what you can do about this situation. Here’s what you need to change. No matter how insignificant God’s instructions may seem to you right now, you need to take them seriously. You need to obey them. What may seem of little significance now, may cause you to avoid serious consequences later. God’s directions are always in your best interest. If you’ll spend time with Him, you’ll learn His ways—and you can forget the world’s low ways. You’ll learn to take the high way!

PRAYER POINT:  Satanic roadblocks assigned to slow down my progress, catch fire in Jesus name.

2. I decree, let my prayers carry fire for speedy & unstoppable answers in Jesus name.

GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 3

WEDNESDAY, 25TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 3

“The Reasons Of The Apostle's Thanksgivings”

MEMORIZE: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:3.

SCRIPTURE READING: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.”  2 Corinthians 1:3-6.

EXPOSITION:

In continuation of our study, “God That Comforts Those That Are Cast Down”, we will be looking at “The Reasons Of The Apostle's Thanksgivings”, which are these:--

1. THE BENEFITS THAT HE HIMSELF AND HIS COMPANIONS HAD RECEIVED FROM GOD. For God had comforted them in all their tribulations, 2 Corinthians 1:4 “who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” In the world they had trouble, but in Christ they had peace. The apostles met with many tribulations, but they found comfort in them all: their sufferings (which are called the sufferings of Christ, (2 Corinthians 1:5 “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ”), because Christ sympathized with his members when suffering for his sake) did abound, but their consolation by Christ did abound also. Then are we qualified to receive the comfort of God's mercies when we set ourselves to give him the glory of them. Then we speak best of God and his goodness when we speak from our own experience, and, in telling others, tell God also what he has done for our souls.

2. THE ADVANTAGE WHICH OTHERS MIGHT RECEIVE. For God intended that they should be able to comfort others in trouble (2 Corinthians 1:4 “who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God”), by communicating to them their experiences of the divine goodness and mercy; and the sufferings of good men have a tendency to this good end (2 Corinthians 1:6 “Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation”) when they are endued with faith and patience.

What favours God bestows on us are intended not only to make us cheerful ourselves, but also that we may be useful to others. If we do imitate the faith and patience of good men in their afflictions, we may hope to partake of their consolations here and their salvation hereafter.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, let your comfort be sufficient for us in our hard times in Jesus name.

GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 2

TUESDAY, 24TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 2

EXPOSITION:

After the foregoing preface, the apostle begins with the narrative of God's goodness to him and his fellow-labourers in their manifold tribulations, which he speaks of by way of thanksgiving to God, and to advance the divine glory (2Co 1:3-6); and it is fit that in all things, and in the first place, God be glorified. Here we observe the object of the apostle's thanksgiving, to whom he offers up blessing and praise, namely, the blessed God, who only is to be praised, whom he describes by several glorious and amiable titles.

1.  THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST: God is the Father of Christ's divine nature by eternal generation, of his human nature by miraculous conception in the womb of the virgin, and of Christ as God-man, and our Redeemer, by covenant-relation, and in and through him as Mediator our God and our Father, John 20:17 “Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'”.

In the Old Testament we often meet with this title, The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, to denote God's covenant-relation to them and their seed; and in the New Testament God is styled the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to denote his covenant-relation to the Mediator and his spiritual seed.  Galatians 3:16 “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ.”.

2. THE FATHER OF MERCIES. There is a multitude of tender mercies in God essentially, and all mercies are from God originally: mercy in his genuine offspring and his delight.  He delighteth in mercy, Mic 7:18-19 “Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. 19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.”.

3. THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT; from his proceedeth the COMFORTER, John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”. He giveth the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts, 2 Corinthians 1:22 “who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”. All our comforts come from God, and our sweetest comforts are in him.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, let your comfort be our strength everyday of our lives in Jesus name.

GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 1

MONDAY, 23RD OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus” 2 Corinthians 7:6

EXPOSITION:

And who comforteth like Him? Go to some poor, melancholy, distressed child of God; tell him sweet promises, and whisper in his ear choice words of comfort; he is like the deaf adder, he listens not to the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely. He is drinking gall and wormwood, and comfort him as you may, it will be only a note or two of mournful resignation that you will get from him; you will bring forth no psalms of praise, no hallelujahs, no joyful sonnets. But let God come to His child, let Him lift up his countenance, and the mourner's eyes glisten with hope. Do you not hear him sing-- "'Tis paradise, if thou art here; If thou depart, 'tis hell?"

You could not have cheered him: but the Lord has done it; "He is the God of all comfort." There is no balm in Gilead, but there is balm in God. There is no physician among the creatures, but the Creator is Jehovah-rophi. It is marvellous how one sweet word of God will make whole songs for Christians. One word of God is like a piece of gold, and the Christian is the goldbeater, and can hammer that promise out for whole weeks. So, then, poor Christian, you need not sit down in despair. Go to the Comforter, and ask Him to give you consolation. Thou art a poor dry well. You have heard it said, that when a pump is dry, you must pour water down it first of all, and then you will get water, and so, Christian, when thou art dry, go to God, ask Him to shed abroad His joy in thy heart, and then thy joy shall be full. Do not go to earthly acquaintances, for you will find them Job's comforters after all; but go first and foremost to thy "God, that comforteth those that are cast down," and you will soon say, "In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul." - Psalm 94:19.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord Jesus Christ, comfort the afflicted and the oppressed in Jesus name.

I MUST WORK… WHILE IT IS DAY,…

SUNDAY, 22ND OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC: I MUST WORK… WHILE IT IS DAY,…

MEMORIZE: "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:34-35.

“Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. "Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”

EXPOSITION:

The Father, when he sent his Son into the world, gave him work to do; he did not come into the world to take state, but to do business; whom God sends he employs, for he sends none to be idle. The works Christ had to do were the works of him that sent him, not only appointed by him, but done for him; he was a worker together with God. He was pleased to lay himself under the strongest obligations to do the business he was sent about: I must work. He engaged his heart, in the covenant of redemption, to draw near, and approach to God as Mediator, Jer 30:21. Shall we be willing to be loose, when Christ was willing to be bound?

Christ, having laid himself under obligations to do his work, laid out himself with the utmost vigour and industry in his work. He worked the works he had to do. I must work while it is day, while the time lasts which is appointed to work in, and while the light lasts which is given to work by. Christ himself had his day. The consideration of our death approaching should quicken us to improve all the opportunities of life, both for doing and getting good. The night comes, it will come certainly, may come suddenly, is coming nearer and nearer.

Take note of these facts:

1. All the business of the mediatorial kingdom was to be done within the limits of time, and in this world; for at the end of the world, when time shall be no more, the kingdom shall be delivered up to God, even the Father, and the mystery of God finished. So also we should preach to the perishing souls while we are agile (active).

2. All the work he had to do in his own person here on earth was to be done before his death; the time of his living in this world is the day here spoken of. Note, The time of our life is our day, in which it concerns us to do the work of the day. Day-time is the proper season for work Ps 104:22-23; during the day of life we must be busy, not waste day-time, nor play by day-light

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to be fruitful and fulfilled in your work in Jesus name.

STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD – Part 2

SATURDAY, 21ST OCTOBER, 2023.

TOPIC:  STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD – Part 2

Facts About The Word Of God

MEMORIZE: "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:34-35.

“Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. "Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”

EXPOSITION:

Facts about the Word of God

1. The word which ministers preach is the word of truth, for the author of it is the God of truth – “Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.”  Psalm 119:151.

2. It requires great wisdom, study, and care, to divide this word of truth rightly; Timothy must study in order to do this well.

3. The messengers must prepare themselves fitted/qualified unashamedly for the work.

Many ministers were truly given the word of life, but they lack the wisdom to rightly divide it – right meaning and application. Their messages thereby loss value and acceptance.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, give me wisdom for a fruitful and fulfilling ministry in Jesus name.

STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD – Part 1

FRIDAY, 20TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

Topic: STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD

MEMORIZE: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Timothy 2:14-18.

“Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.”

EXPOSITION:

At this end of age, people are very prone to strive about words, and such strives never answer any other ends than to shake some and subvert (undermine) others; they are not only useless, but they are very hurtful, and therefore ministers are to charge the people that they do not strive about words, and they are most likely to be regarded when they charge them before the Lord, that is, in his name and from his word; when they produce their warrant for what they say.

Study to show thyself approved unto God, 2Timothy 2:15.

The care of ministers must be to approve themselves unto God, to be accepted of him, and to show that they are so approved unto God. In order thereunto, there must be constant care and industry: Study to show thyself such a one, a workman that needs not be ashamed.

Ministers must be workmen

They have work to do, and they must take pains in it. Workmen that are unskilful, or unfaithful, or lazy, have need to be ashamed; but those who mind their business, and keep to their work, are workmen that need not be ashamed.

And what is their work?

It is rightly to divide the word of truth. Not to invent a new gospel, but rightly to divide the gospel that is committed to their trust.

What is the message?

i. To speak terror to those to whom terror belongs,

ii. comfort to whom comfort belongs;

iii. to give everyone his portion in due season, Mt 24:45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?”.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help all your ministers to be faithful and obedient to you till the end in Jesus name.

FOR THIS CHILD I PRAYED.

THURSDAY, 19TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC: FOR THIS CHILD I PRAYED.

MEMORIZE: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." --Matthew 7:7-8.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 1:24-28

“Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh. And the child was young. 25 Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. 26 And she said, "O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD. 27 "For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 "Therefore I also have lent him to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD." So they worshiped the LORD there.”

EXPOSITION:

Devout souls delight to look upon those mercies which they have obtained in answer to supplication, for they can see God's special love in them. When we can name our blessings Samuel, that is, "asked of God," they will be as dear to us as her child was to Hannah. Peninnah had many children, but they came as common blessings unsought in prayer: Hannah's one heaven-given child was dearer far, because he was the fruit of earnest pleadings. How sweet was that water to Samson which he found at "the well of him that prayed!" m n   Quasit   cups turn all waters bitter, but the cup of prayer puts a sweetness into the draughts it brings.

Did we pray for the conversion of our children? How doubly sweet, when they are saved, to see in them our own petitions fulfilled! Better to rejoice over them as the fruit of our pleadings than as the fruit of our bodies. Have we sought of the Lord some choice spiritual gift? When it comes to us it will be wrapped up in the gold cloth of God's faithfulness and truth, and so be doubly precious. Have we petitioned for success in the Lord's work? How joyful is the prosperity which comes flying upon the wings of prayer! It is always best to get blessings into our house in the legitimate way, by the door of prayer; then they are blessings indeed, and not temptations. Even when prayer speeds not, the blessings grow all the richer for the delay; the child Jesus was all the more lovely in the eyes of Mary when she found Him after having sought Him sorrowing. That which we win by prayer we should dedicate to God, as Hannah dedicated Samuel. The gift came from heaven, let it go to heaven. Prayer brought it, gratitude sang over it, let devotion consecrate it. Here will be a special occasion for saying, "Of Thine own have I given unto Thee."

ACTION POINT:  Is prayer your element or your weariness? Which?

I ACKNOWLEDGED MY SIN UNTO THEE

WEDNESDAY, 18TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  I ACKNOWLEDGED MY SIN UNTO THEE

MEMORIZE: "I acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin." --Psalm 32:5

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 51:1-19.

“Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight-That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

7 ¶ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.

14 ¶ Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. 16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart-These, O God, You will not despise. 18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.”

EXPOSITION:

David's grief for sin was bitter. Its effects were visible upon his outward frame: "his bones waxed old"; "his moisture was turned into the drought of summer." No remedy could he find, until he made a full confession before the throne of the heavenly grace. He tells us that for a time he kept silence, and his heart became more and more filled with grief: like a mountain tarn whose outlet is blocked up, his soul was swollen with torrents of sorrow. He fashioned excuses; he endeavoured to divert his thoughts, but it was all to no purpose; like a festering sore his anguish gathered, and as he would not use the lancet of confession, his spirit was full of torment, and knew no rest.

At last it came to this, that he must return unto his God in humble penitence, or die outright; so he hastened to the mercy-seat, and there unrolled the volume of his iniquities before the all-seeing One, acknowledging all the evil of his ways in language such as you read in the fifty-first and other penitential Psalms. Having done this, a work so simple and yet so difficult to pride, he received at once the token of divine forgiveness; the bones which had been broken were made to rejoice, and he came forth from his closet to sing the blessedness of the man whose transgression is forgiven. See the value of a grace-wrought confession of sin! It is to be prized above all price, for in every case where there is a genuine, gracious confession, mercy is freely given, not because the repentance and confession deserve mercy, but for Christ's sake. Blessed be God, there is always healing for the broken heart; the fountain is ever flowing to cleanse us from our sins. Truly, O Lord, Thou art a God "ready to pardon!" Therefore will we acknowledge our iniquities.

PRAYER POINT:  Truly, O Lord, Thou art a God "ready to pardon!" Therefore will we acknowledge our iniquities.

THE LIBERTY THROUGH CHRIST, AS THE LORD OF LIFE

TUESDAY, 17TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  THE LIBERTY THROUGH CHRIST.

MEMORIZE: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." --Galatians 5:1

SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 5:1-6.

“In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].Notice, it is I, Paul, who tells you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no profit (advantage, avail) to you [for if you distrust Him, you can gain nothing from Him]. I once more protest and testify to every man who receives circumcision that he is under obligation and bound to practice the whole of the Law and its ordinances. If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited blessing). For we, [not relying on the Law but] through the [Holy] Spirit’s [help], by faith anticipate and wait for the blessing and good for which our righteousness and right standing with God [our conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action, causes us] to hope.” Amplified

EXPOSITION:

It is written, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." John 8:36. This "liberty" makes us free to heaven's charter--the Bible. Here is a choice passage to the believer, "When thou passest through the rivers, I will be with thee." Isaiah 43:2. You are free to have it.

Here is another: "For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee." - Isaiah 54:10; you are free to have it too.

You are a welcome guest at the table of the promises. Scripture is a never-failing treasury filled with boundless stores of grace. It is the bank of heaven; you may draw from it as much as you please, without let or hindrance. Come in faith and you are welcome to all covenant blessings. There is not a promise in the Word which shall be withheld.

In the depths of tribulations let this freedom comfort you; amidst waves of distress let it cheer you; when sorrows surround thee let it be thy solace. This is thy Father's love-token; thou art free to it at all times. Thou art also free to the throne of grace. It is the believer's privilege to have access at all times to His heavenly Father. Whatever our desires, our difficulties, our wants, we are at liberty to spread all before Him. It matters not how much we may have sinned, we may ask and expect pardon. It signifies nothing how poor we are, we may plead His promise that He will provide all things needful. We have permission to approach His throne at all times--in midnight's darkest hour, or in noontide's most burning heat. Exercise thy right, O believer, and live up to thy privilege. Thou art free to all that is treasured up in Christ--wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. It matters not what your need is, for there is fullness of supply in Christ, and it is there for thee. O what a "freedom" is thine! freedom from condemnation, freedom to the promises, freedom to the throne of grace, and at last freedom to enter heaven!

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, I receive grace to enter into the heavenly treasury and be satisfied with all good things of the Kingdom in Jesus name.

THE POWER OF CHRIST, AS THE LORD OF LIFE.

MONDAY, 16TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  THE POWER OF CHRIST, AS THE LORD OF LIFE.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  THE POWER OF CHRIST, AS THE LORD OF LIFE

MEMORIZE: “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 10:17-18.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”

EXPOSITION:

In our today’s scriptural passage, we see Jesus declaring his power as the Lord of life, particularly of his own life, which he had in himself and the source of eternal life to every believer that believes in him.

1. He had power to keep his life against all the world, so that it could not be wrested (taken) from him without his own consent. Though Christ's life seemed to be taken by storm, yet really it was surrendered, otherwise it had been impregnable, and never taken. The Lord Jesus did not fall into the hands of his persecutors because he could not avoid it, but threw himself into their hands because his hour was come. No man taketh my life from me. This was such a challenge as was never given by the most daring hero.

2. He had power to lay down his life.

(a.) HE HAD ABILITY TO DO IT. He could, when he pleased, slip the knot of union between soul and body, and, without any act of violence done to himself, could disengage them from each other: having voluntarily taken up a body, he could voluntarily lay it down again, which appeared when he cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

(b.) HE HAD AUTHORITY TO DO IT. Though we could find instruments of cruelty, wherewith to make an end of our own lives -- we can do that, and that only, which we can do lawfully. We are not at liberty to do it; but Christ had a sovereign authority to dispose of his own life as he pleased. He was no debtor (as we are) either to life or death, but perfectly sui juris.

3.  He had power to take it again; we have not. Our life, once laid down, is as water spilt upon the ground; but Christ, when he laid down his life, still had it within reach, within call, and could resume it. Parting with it by a voluntary conveyance, he might limit the surrender at pleasure, and he did it with a power of revocation, which was necessary to preserve the intentions of the surrender.

Secondly, we see here the grace of Christ; since none could demand his life of him by law, or extort it by force, he laid it down of himself, for our redemption. He offered himself to be the Saviour: Lo, I come; and then, the necessity of our case calling for it, he offered himself to be a sacrifice: Here am I, let these go their way; by which will we are sanctified, Heb 10:10 “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”. He was both the offerer and the offering, so that his laying down his life was his offering up himself.

PRAYER POINT:  Thank you Jesus Christ for your life in me. Hallelujah!!!

THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

SUNDAY, 15TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

Topic: THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:1-24

MEMORIZE: "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." - Zechariah 4:6.

EXPOSITION

Failure to walk in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit will result in powerlessness, failure and disappointment. It behoves us therefore as believers to walk in total obedience to Him. When we are totally yielded to the Holy Spirit, we stand to experience a lot of benefits such as the following: wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to know the truth and how to apply it to specific situations (1 Corinthians 12:8). He gives us strength such that even when we are tired, we do not expire or burn out. Many believers are burning out today because they lack the wisdom of the Holy, which the Bible says is profitable to direct (Ecclesiastes 10:10b).

The Holy Spirit helps us not to get discouraged by the challenges that we face as children of God in our daily activities and life generally. When we are aware that it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we move and not by our own power or might, we are able to forge ahead to accomplish any assignment He has for us, no matter how difficult they may be (Zechariah 4:6). We rely on God to see us through rather than try to manipulate or scheme to achieve our goals. So, even when we experience distress, we will not become negatively desperate or cut corners to get things done as children of God.

When we do God's work with the help of the Holy Spirit, and according to His leading, we will be successful and blessed, no matter what is happening around us. However, the fact that we are walking in the Spirit does not mean that life will be easy. But we will continue, knowing that we have a Helper who will never leave us nor forsake us. That is our confidence (Romans 4:21).

PRAYER POINTS:

i.  Lord help me and give me the grace to live in complete obedience to the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

ii. The labour of my hands shall prosper, in the name of Jesus.

CHRIST'S OFFERING UP HIMSELF FOR HIS SHEEP

SATURDAY, 14TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  CHRIST'S OFFERING UP HIMSELF FOR HIS SHEEP

MEMORIZE: “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10:18.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 10:15-18

“As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”

EXPOSITION:

Christ's offering up himself for his sheep is another proof of his being a good shepherd, and in this he yet more commended his love, John 10:15,17-18.

He declares his purpose of dying for his flock John 10:15 “As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.” I lay down my life for the sheep. He not only ventured his life for them (in such a case, the hope of saving it might balance the fear of losing it), but he actually deposited it, and submitted to a necessity of dying for our redemption--I put it as a pawn or pledge; as purchase-money paid down. Sheep appointed for the slaughter, ready to be sacrificed, were ransomed with the blood of the shepherd. He laid down his life, not only for the good of the sheep, but in their stead.

Thousands of sheep had been offered in sacrifice for their shepherds, as sin-offerings, but here, by a surprising reverse, the shepherd is sacrificed for the sheep. When David, the shepherd of Israel, was himself guilty, and the destroying angel drew his sword against the flock for his sake, with good reason did he plead, These sheep, what evil have they done? Let thy hand be against me, 2 Samuel 24:17 “And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.”. But the Son of David was sinless and spotless; and his sheep, what evil have they not done? Yet he saith, Let thine hand be against me. Christ here seems to refer to that prophecy, Zec 13:7, “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.”; and, though the smiting of the shepherd be for the present the scattering of the flock, it is in order to the gathering of them in.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, let not your sacrificial death over me be in vain in Jesus name.

HIS FRUIT WAS SWEET TO MY TASTE

FRIDAY, 13TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  HIS FRUIT WAS SWEET TO MY TASTE

MEMORIZE: " As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste." --Song of Solomon 2:3

SCRIPTURE READING: Song of Solomon 2:3-4.

“As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. 4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.”

EXPOSITION:

Faith, in the Scripture, is spoken of under the emblem of all the senses. It is sight: "Look unto me and be ye saved." It is hearing: "Hear, and your soul shall live." Faith is smelling: "All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia"; "thy name is as ointment poured forth." Faith is spiritual touch. By this faith the woman came behind and touched the hem of Christ's garment, and by this we handle the things of the good word of life. Faith is equally the spirit's taste. "How sweet are Thy words to my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my lips." "Except a man eat my flesh," saith Christ, "and drink my blood, there is no life in him."

This "taste" is faith in one of its highest operations. One of the first performances of faith is hearing. We hear the voice of God, not with the outward ear alone, but with the inward ear; we hear it as God's Word, and we believe it to be so; that is the "hearing" of faith. Then our mind looketh upon the truth as it is presented to us; that is to say, we understand it, we perceive its meaning; that is the "seeing" of faith. Next we discover its preciousness; we begin to admire it, and find how fragrant it is; that is faith in its "smell." Then we appropriate the mercies which are prepared for us in Christ; that is faith in its "touch." Hence follow the enjoyments, peace, delight, communion; which are faith in its "taste." Any one of these acts of faith is saving. To hear Christ's voice as the sure voice of God in the soul will save us; but that which gives true enjoyment is the aspect of faith wherein Christ, by holy taste, is received into us, and made, by inward and spiritual apprehension of His sweetness and preciousness, to be the food of our souls. It is then we sit "under His shadow with great delight," and find His fruit sweet to our taste.

PRAYER POINT:  i. Lord, help me to see your goodness all the days of my life in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, help me taste your sweetness in all I face daily in Jesus name.

GOOD SHEPHERD: MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE…

THURSDAY, 12TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  GOOD SHEPHERD: MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE…

MEMORIZE: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John 10:27.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 10:14-16.

“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”

EXPOSITION:

First, "They shall hear my voice. Not only my voice shall be heard among them (whereas they have not heard, and therefore could not believe, now the sound of the gospel shall go to the ends of the earth), but it shall be heard by them; I will speak, and give to them to hear." Faith comes by hearing, and our diligent observance of the voice of Christ is both a means and an evidence of our being brought to Christ, and to God by him.

Secondly, There shall be one fold and one shepherd. As there is one shepherd, so there shall be one fold. Both Jews and Gentiles, upon their turning to the faith of Christ, shall be incorporated in one church, be joint and equal sharers in the privileges of it, without distinction. Being united to Christ, they shall unite in him; two sticks shall become one in the hand of the Lord.

Note, One shepherd makes one fold; one Christ makes one church. As the church is one in its constitution, subject to one head, animated by one Spirit, and guided by one rule, so the members of it ought to be one in love and affection as written in Eph 4:3-6, “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, give me hearing ear to always hear you voice and give me understanding to understand your word in Jesus name.

LET THE WHOLE EARTH BE FILLED WITH HIS GLORY

TUESDAY, 10TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

Topic: LET THE WHOLE EARTH BE FILLED WITH HIS GLORY

MEMORIZE: "Let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen." --Psalm 72:19

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 72: 18-19

“Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. 19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.”

EXPOSITION:

This is a large petition. To intercede for a whole city needs a stretch of faith, and there are times when a prayer for one man is enough to stagger us. But how far-reaching was the psalmist's dying intercession! How comprehensive! How sublime! "Let the whole earth be filled with His glory." It doth not exempt a single country however crushed by the foot of superstition; it doth not exclude a single nation however barbarous. For the cannibal as well as for the civilized, for all climes and races this prayer is uttered: the whole circle of the earth it encompasses, and omits no son of Adam. We must be up and doing for our Master, or we cannot honestly offer such a prayer. The petition is not asked with a sincere heart unless we endeavour, as God shall help us, to extend the kingdom of our Master. Are there not some who neglect both to plead and to labour?

Reader, is it your prayer? Turn your eyes to Calvary. Behold the Lord of Life nailed to a cross, with the thorn-crown about His brow, with bleeding head, and hands, and feet. What! can you look upon this miracle of miracles, the death of the Son of God, without feeling within your bosom a marvellous adoration that language never can express? And when you feel the blood applied to your conscience, and know that He has blotted out your sins, you are not a man unless you start from your knees and cry, "Let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen." Can you bow before the Crucified in loving homage, and not wish to see your Monarch master of the world? Out on you if you can pretend to love your Prince, and desire not to see Him - the universal ruler. Your piety is worthless unless it leads you to wish that the same mercy which has been extended to you may bless the whole world. Lord, it is harvest-time, put in Thy sickle and reap.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, let my life show forth your praises in Jesus name.

THE GOOD SHEPHERD: THE PURPOSES OF HIS GRACE CONCERNING HIS SHEEP:

WEDNESDAY, 11TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  THE GOOD SHEPHERD: THE PURPOSES OF HIS GRACE CONCERNING HIS SHEEP:

MEMORIZE: “And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.” Luke 15:5.

EXPOSITION:

Jesus addressing himself as the good shepherd promised to reunite his sheep from other flock together and make them one fold and one shepherd. He says, "Them also I must bring, bring home to God, bring into the church, and, in order to this, bring off from their vain conversation, bring them back from their wanderings, as that lost sheep," Lu 15:5-6 “And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.”.

But why must he bring them? What was the necessity?

First, The necessity of their case required it: "I must bring, or they must be left to wander endlessly, for, like sheep, they will never come back of themselves, and no other can or will bring them."  Therefore, I must search for them and bring them back home myself and unite them together with the ones in the flock.

Secondly, The necessity of his own engagements required it; he must bring them, or he would not be faithful to his trust, and true to his undertaking. "They are my own, bought and paid for, and therefore I must not neglect them nor leave them to perish." He must in honour bring those with whom he was entrusted.

PRAYER POINT:  Thank you Jesus Christ for being my shepherd. Help me never to quit following you in Jesus name.

TREMBLE, O EARTH, AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.

MONDAY, 9TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  TREMBLE, O EARTH, AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.

MEMORIZE: “… work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 114:1-8

“When Israel went out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language, 2 Judah became His sanctuary, And Israel His dominion. 3 The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back. 4 The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs. 5 What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back? 6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters”

EXPOSITION:

That the earth shook and trembled when God came down on Mount Sinai to give the law (Ps 114:4

“The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs.”): The mountains skipped like rams, and then the little hills might well be excused if they skipped like lambs, either when they are frightened or when they sport themselves.  The same power that fixed the fluid waters and made them stand still shook the stable mountains and made them tremble for all the powers of nature are under the check of the God of nature. Mountains and hills are, before God, but like rams and lambs; even the bulkiest and the most rocky are as manageable by him as they are by the shepherd.

The trembling of the mountains before the Lord may shame the stupidity and obduracy of the children of men, who are not moved at the discoveries of his glory. The psalmist asks the mountains and hills what ailed them to skip thus; and he answers for them, as for the seas, it was at the presence of the Lord, before whom, not only those mountains, but the earth itself, may well tremble (Ps 114:7), since it has lain under a curse for man's sin. Psalm 104:32 “He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke.”

Isa 64:3-4 “When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence. 4 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.”. He that made the hills and mountains to skip thus can, when he pleases, dissipate the strength and spirit of the proudest of his enemies and make them tremble.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to honour you with my whole life in Jesus name.

GROWING IN CHRIST

SUNDAY, 8TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  GROWING IN CHRIST

MEMORIZE: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Col. 1:13, 14

SCRIPTURE READING: “You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:17-18

EXPOSITION:

By His death on the cross Jesus triumphed over the forces of evil. He who subjugated the demonic spirits during His earthly ministry has broken their power and made certain their ultimate doom. Jesus’ victory gives us victory over the evil forces that still seek to control us, as we walk with Him in peace, joy, and assurance of His love. Now the Holy Spirit dwells within us and empowers us. Continually committed to Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we are set free from the burden of our past deeds. No longer do we live in the darkness, fear of evil powers, ignorance, and meaninglessness of our former way of life.

In this new freedom in Jesus, we are called to grow into the likeness of His character, communing with Him daily in prayer, feeding on His Word, meditating on it and on His providence, singing His praises, gathering together for worship, and participating in the mission of the Church.

We are also called to follow Christ’s example by compassionately ministering to the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of humanity. As we give ourselves in loving service to those around us and in witnessing to His salvation, His constant presence with us through the Spirit transforms every moment and every task into a spiritual experience – “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” John 20:21.

PRAYER POINT:  LORD, help me to grow in my walk with you in Jesus name.

I AM PERSUADED...

SATURDAY, 7TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  I AM PERSUADED

MEMORIZE: “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17.

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 8:35-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

EXPOSITION:

A direct and positive conclusion of the whole matter: For I am persuaded, Ro 8:38-39. It denotes a full, and strong, and affectionate persuasion, arising from the experience of the strength and sweetness of the divine love. And here he enumerates all those things which might be supposed likely to separate between Christ and believers, and concludes that it could not be done.

(1.) Neither death nor life--neither the terrors of death on the one hand nor the comforts and pleasures of life on the other, neither the fear of death nor the hope of life. Or, We shall not be separated from that love either in death or in life.

(2.) Nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers. Both the good angels and the bad are called principalities and powers: the good, Eph 1:21; Col 1:16; the bad, Eph 6:12; Col 2:15. And neither shall do it.  The good angels will not, the bad shall not; and neither can.  The good angels are engaged friends, the bad are restrained enemies.

(3.) Nor things present, nor things to come--neither the sense of troubles present nor the fear of troubles to come.  Time shall not separate us, eternity shall not. Things present separate us from things to come, and things to come separate and cut us off from things present; but neither from the love of Christ, whose favour is twisted in with both present things and things to come.

(4.) Nor height, nor depth--neither the height of prosperity and preferment, nor the depth of adversity and disgrace; nothing from heaven above, no storms, no tempests; nothing on earth below, no rocks, no seas, no dungeons.

(5.) Nor any other creature--anything that can be named or thought of. It will not, it cannot, separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. It cannot cut off or impair our love to God, or God's to us; nothing does it, can do it, but sin.  Observe, The love that exists between God and true believers is through Christ. He is the Mediator of our love: it is in and through him that God can love us and that we dare love God. This is the ground of the steadfastness of the love; therefore God rests in his love Zep 3:17 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” because Jesus Christ, in whom he loves us, is the same yesterday, to-day, and forever.

Mr. Hugh Kennedy, an eminent Christian in Scotland, when he was dying, called for a Bible; but, finding his sight gone, he said, "Turn me to the eighth of the Romans, and set my finger at these words, “I am persuaded that neither death nor life, …"” "Now," said he, "is my finger upon them?" And, when they told him it was, without speaking any more, he said, "Now, God be with you, my children; I have breakfasted with you, and shall sup with my Lord Jesus Christ this night;" and so departed.

Keep trusting God with your life, for He is able to do what he says. “… what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Romans 4:21.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, I give my life to you. Help me to trust you in the days of trouble in Jesus name.

NOTHING SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST

THURSDAY, 5TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  NOTHING SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST

MEMORIZE: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37.

EXPOSITION:

The inability of all these things to separate us from the love of Christ. Shall they, can they, do it? No, by no means. All this will not cut the bond of love and friendship that is between Christ and true believers.

[1.] Christ doth not, will not, love us the less for all this. All these troubles are very consistent with the strong and constant love of the Lord Jesus. They are neither a cause nor an evidence of the abatement of his love. When Paul was whipped, and beaten, and imprisoned, and stoned, did Christ love him ever the less?  Were his favours intermitted? his smiles any whit suspended? his visits more shy? By no means, but the contrary.  These things separate us from the love of other friends. When Paul was brought before Nero all men forsook him, but then the Lord stood by him, 2 Timothy 4:16-17 “At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them. 17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.”. Whatever persecuting enemies may rob us of, they cannot rob us of the love of Christ, they cannot intercept his love-tokens, they cannot interrupt nor exclude his visits: and therefore, let them do their worst, they cannot make a true believer miserable.

[2.] We do not, and will not, love him the less for this; and that for this reason, because we do not think that he loves us the less. Charity thinks no evil, entertains no misgiving thoughts, makes no hard conclusions, no unkind constructions, takes all in good part that comes from love. A true Christian loves Christ never the less though he suffer for him, thinks never the worse of Christ through he lose all for him.

(3.) The triumph of believers in this Ro 8:37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors.

We are conquerors: though killed all the day long, yet conquerors. A strange way of conquering, but it was Christ's way; thus he triumphed over principalities and powers in his cross. It is a surer and a nobler way of conquest by faith and patience than by fire and sword. The enemies have sometimes confessed themselves baffled and overcome by the invincible courage and constancy of the martyrs, who thus overcame the most victorious princes by not loving their lives to the death, Re 12:11.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, I receive grace to overcome every obstacle and trap of the enemies on my way to following You in Jesus name.

WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS

FRIDAY, 6TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS

MEMORIZE: “AMP:For just as Christ’s [own] sufferings fall to our lot [as they overflow upon His disciples, and we share and experience them] abundantly, so through Christ comfort (consolation and encouragement) is also [shared and experienced] abundantly by us.” 2 Corinthians 1:5 Amplified.

EXPOSITION:

As we proceed in our study today, we want to examine our inheritance in Jesus Christ which is being more than conquerors. In our patiently bearing these trials we are not only conquerors, but more than conquerors, that is, triumphers. Those are more than conquerors that conquer, First, With little loss. Many conquests are dearly bought; but what do the suffering saints lose? Why, they lose that which the gold loses in the furnace, nothing but the dross. It is no great loss to lose things which are not--a body that is of the earth, earthy. Secondly, With great gain. The spoils are exceedingly rich; glory, honour, and peace, a crown of righteousness that fades not away. In this the suffering saints have triumphed; not only have not been separated from the love of Christ, but have been taken into the most sensible endearments and embraces of it. As afflictions abound, consolations much more abound, 2 Corinthians 1:5 “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.”.

There is one more than a conqueror, when pressed above measure.

- He that embraced the stake, and said, "Welcome the cross of Christ, welcome everlasting life,"

--He that dated his letter from the delectable orchard of the Leonine prison,

--he that said, "In these flames I feel no more pain than if I were upon a bed of down,"

--She who, a little before her martyrdom, being asked how she did, said, "Well and merry, and going to heaven,"

--Those that have gone smiling to the stake, and stood singing in the flames-

-THESE WERE MORE THAN CONQUERORS.

It is only through Christ that loved us, the merit of his death taking the sting out of all these troubles, the Spirit of his grace strengthening us, and enabling us to bear them with holy courage and constancy, and coming in with special comforts and supports.  Thus we are conquerors, not in our own strength, but in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. We are conquerors by virtue of our interest in Christ's victory. He hath overcome the world for us John 16:33 Amplified: "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]", both the good things and the evil things of it; so that we have nothing to do but to pursue the victory, and to divide the spoil, and so are more than conquerors.

PRAYER POINT:  I receive grace to overcome all challenges of life without compromise in Jesus name.

WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?

WEDNESDAY, 4TH OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?

A DARING CHALLENGE TO ALL THE ENEMIES OF THE SAINTS

MEMORIZE: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” Romans 8:35.

EXPOSITION:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” Rom 8:35. We have good assurance of our preservation and continuance in this blessed state, to the end. The fears of the saints lest they should lose their hold of Christ are often very discouraging and disquieting, and create them a great deal of disturbance; but here is that which may silence their fears, and still such storms, that nothing can separate them. We have here from the apostle,

A daring challenge to all the enemies of the saints to separate them, if they could, from the love of Christ. Who shall? None shall, Ro 8:35-37. God having manifested his love in giving his own Son for us, and not hesitating at that, can we imagine that any thing else should divert or dissolve that love? Observe here,

The present calamities of Christ's beloved ones supposed--that they meet with tribulation on all hands, are in distress, know not which way to look for any succour and relief in this world, are followed with persecution from an angry malicious world that always hated those whom Christ loved, pinched with famine, and starved with nakedness, when stripped of all creature-comforts, exposed to the greatest perils, the sword of the magistrate drawn against them, ready to be sheathed in their bowels, bathed in their blood. Can a case be supposed more black and dismal? It is illustrated in Romans 8:36 by a passage quoted from Psalm 44:22 “Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” For thy sake we are killed all the day long, which intimates that we are not to think strange, no not concerning the fiery bloody trial. We see the Old-Testament saints had the same lot; so persecuted they the prophets that were before us.  Killed all the day long, that is, continually exposed to and expecting the fatal stroke. There is still every day, and all the day long, one or other of the people of God bleeding and dying under the rage of persecuting enemies.  Accounted as sheep for the slaughter; they make no more of killing a Christian than of butchering a sheep. Sheep are killed, not because they are hurtful while they live, but because they are useful when they are dead. They kill the Christians to please themselves, to be food to their malice. They eat up my people as they eat bread, Psalm 14:4 “Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call on the LORD?”.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to continue growing in you and in your grace in Jesus name.

BEWARE OF LUST

TUESDAY, 3RD OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  BEWARE OF LUST

MEMORIZE: "For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world." 1 John 2:16.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 John 2:15-17.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

EXPOSITION:

Lust can be defined as a strong desire for sex, power or some other thing. The scripture above talks about the lust of the flesh, a reference to sexual lust. How many happy families have been devastated by the lust of the flesh, too numerous and increasing by the day.

LUST OF THE FLESH

Lust of the flesh is not love. Love seeks to give while lust seeks to take, possess. It is a desire to satisfy one’s sexual desire, it is usually short lived and leaves consequences.

King David had an episode of lust of the flesh with Uriah’s wife in 2 Samuel 11. Whilst the Israelite army was off fighting a war David was in his palace and saw the figure of Uriah’s wife bathing, lust overcame him and he ended up committing adultery with her. To cut the story short she became pregnant and to cover his tracks he had the husband, Uriah, killed.

LUST OF THE EYES

The lust of the eyes can mean the desire for power and wealth. It can manifest into peer pressure. The desire to have a thing because I see others with it. It leads to one taking short cuts to hasten the acquisition of what we lust after. These shortcuts can result in criminality.

Celebrity lifestyles and the flaunting of material wealth can result in a lust of the eyes, especially in young people's minds.

Political back stabbings and disloyalty could all be a consequence of a lust of the eye. The lust for power can also be found in the church. These things come from the world and as long as we are in the world we must watch out and be on our guard.

LUST VERSUS LOVE

Whilst lust is all about taking, love is about giving. The two cannot be compared. Love is patient whilst lust is impatient. Love is caring but lust only cares about satisfying itself nevermind who gets hurt.

HOW TO OVERCOME LUST

The way to avoid lust creeping into our hearts is to have another influencer, the Spirit of God. We cultivate his presence by taking in the teachings of the Bible regularly. Reading the word keeps the world away. Regular fellowship with Christians helps also. The most effective is awareness of the potency of this devil’s device called lust and covering ourselves with prayer, Lord keep me from lust, amen. Remain blessed.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, keep me from lust In Jesus Name.

TRUE FREEDOM (INDEPENDENCE) Part 2

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For MONDAY, 2ND OCTOBER, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE

TOPIC:  TRUE FREEDOM (INDEPENDENT) – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” Luke 13:16

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 13:10-17

“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? 17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.”

EXPOSITION:

The offer of this cure to one that sought it not speaks of the mercy and grace of Christ: When Jesus saw her, he called her to him, Lu 13:12. It does not appear that she made any application to him, or had any expectation from him; but before she called he answered. She came to him to be taught and healed, and then Christ gave this relief to her bodily infirmity.

(1.) IN THE CONVERSION OF SINNERS. Unsanctified hearts are under this spirit of infirmity; they are distorted, the faculties of the soul are quite out of place and order; they are bowed down towards things below. Base souls that bend towards the earth! They can in no wise lift up themselves to God and heaven; the bent of the soul, in its natural state, is the quite contrary way. Such crooked souls seek not to Christ; but he calls them to him, lays the hand of his power and grace upon them, speaks a healing word to them, by which he looses them from their infirmity, makes the soul straight, reduces it to order, raises it above worldly regards, and directs its affections and aims heavenward. Though man cannot make that straight which God has made crooked (Ecclesiastes 7:13), yet the grace of God can make that straight which the sin of man has made crooked.

(2.) IN THE CONSOLATION OF GOOD PEOPLE. Many of the children of God are long under a spirit of infirmity, a spirit of bondage; through prevailing grief and fear, their souls are cast down and disquieted within them, they are troubled, they are bowed down greatly, they go mourning all the day long, Ps 38:6. But Christ, by his Spirit of adoption, looses them from this infirmity in due time, and raises them up.

The present effect of this cure upon the soul of the patient as well as upon her body. She glorified God, gave him the praise of her cure to whom all praise is due. When crooked souls are made straight, they will show it by their glorifying God.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, give us true freedom from the power of sin and darkness in Jesus name.
