OFFER SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING UNTO GOD

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for Thursday, 1ST SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: OFFER SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING UNTO GOD

MEMORIZE: "I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works." Psalms 9:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 50:14-15

¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵ Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."

EXPOSITION:

Appreciating is supplicating. When you thank God, you will get more. Many people today found it uneasy to thank God but easy to pray, expressing their expectations before God. Why? They are fond of comparing themselves with others who are more successful than them. They always forget to think otherwise, examine countless others that they are better than. Since the year began, many healthy people have died without notice. Many smart guys have been implicated. Many sources of income have become dried, thereby exposing the owners to starvation/hardship. You may be crying you don't have money, house, dream-car, beautiful or wealthy spouse or family background,... etc, but have think of grace to sleep easily without routine medication? Have you think of NOT BEING a victim of rubbery, kidnapping, accident, lose of children, fire outbreak, sea storm, plane crash, etc. Even despite you don't know the source of the food stuff we are buying in the market, yet God in faithfulness has been protecting us. He that watches over us is neither slumber nor sleep - Psalm 121. If you can think deep, you will know that though we are not where we should be, we are not stagnant. God is moving us gradually to the land of fruitfulness and fulfillment. We shall get to our promised land easier and faster through our heart of thanksgiving.

We should learn to praise God unconditionally and at all times; not only when things are going on smoothly. Even over what you called "your failure", praise God. Sometimes, what we called failure might be God's way of preserving us for a glorious future. Don't forget that it will take the grace of God for a premature child to survive, unlike any mature baby that grow without stress. The dream released prematurely may not survive persecution in the hand of the sworn enemy of destiny. Stop blaming God or someone else over your fallure, instead, praise God for everything and pray for divine guidance unto greatness and honor in life. Instead of concentrating on what God is yet to do, thank God. He will then do what you cannot do.

PRAYER POINT: Praise God for your journey since January 1st till today 1st of September. It is never by your power or righteousness, it has been by God's intervention.

SURELY, IN VAIN SHALL THEY GATHER AGAINST YOU

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for WEDNESDAY, 31ST AUGUST, 2022.

SURELY, IN VAIN SHALL THEY GATHER AGAINST YOU

MEMORIZE: Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.. Isaiah 54:15.

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 54:15-17.

15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake. 16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."

EXPOSITION:

Battle and conspiracy have been in existence since the time devil revolted against God. He made attempt but could not prevail. He is therefore cast down into the earth. Since then he has been the author of confusion, bitterness and strife. We have seen the mighty oppressing the weak and the rich enslaving the poor. There are battles you may have confidence of winning easily or with your human effort, and there are others we know from the beginning that we cannot win except with divine intervention.

God knew surely that there are sworn enemies who are ready to gather together with their weapons, strength and strategies against the innocent, being threatened by their successes and their relationship with God. In response to this, the promise of God for the righteous is of protection even when others are been afflicted and wasted. God says in Psalm 91:7-12, "⁷A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. ⁸ Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. ⁹ Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, ¹⁰ No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; ¹¹ For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. ¹² In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone."

The bigness and fierceness of our enemies should never be allowed to scare us away from God, rather we should keep our eyes on the bigness and strength of God. Draw strength from how God fought for Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:20-24); Joseph (Genesis 50:20); King Abijah (2 Chronicles 13:1-18); and Apostle Peter (Acts 12:6-11, 18-19). Taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8). At the end, with God on your side, your testimony will be "Indeed they surely assembled, but not by God. Those Who assembled against me had fallen for My sake. Isaiah 54:15.

PRAYER POINT: LORD, fight for me, don't allow enemies to Overcome me in Jesus name.

MY KINDNESS SHALL NOT DEPART FROM YOU

TUESDAY, 30TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: MY KINDNESS SHALL NOT DEPART FROM YOU

MEMORIZE: For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 54:10-14 (NKJV)

¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

¹¹ "O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.

¹² I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones.

¹³ All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.

¹⁴ In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

EXPOSITION:

the kindness of God is His goodness to his creatures, most especially men created in his image and likeness. Not minding our shortcomings, he still loves and has compassion on you and I, the work of His hand. This passage in Isaiah 54:1-14 is one of many places where He personally committed himself to the welfare of His people. He said concerning the whatever situation facing you right now,.. " For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the Lord, who has mercy on you." Isaiah 54:10.

It doesn't matter the name people are calling you now. Sometimes, people call you names after your problems. Are you an afflicted? This is the good news for you... "O you afflicted one, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires. ¹² I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones." God has promised to step into your situation and beautify you with glorious destiny. All you need to do is to be on the Lord's side through your obedience in totality to God. Partial obedience equals disobedience.

It is written in Psalm 34:8-10 (NKJV) ⁸ Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! ⁹ Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. ¹⁰ The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing."

Isaiah 54:14 "In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you." Wait on God and He will turn your situation around for good. Because of his presence with you, he will establish you and take away terror far from you which is talking of security and protection.

PRAYER POINT: LORD, Let it be unto me according to your word in Jesus name

BE SLOW TO CONDEMN

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for MONDAY, 29TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: BE SLOW TO CONDEMN

MEMORIZE: "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person" (JOB 22:29)._

SCRIPTURE READING: JOB 22:21-30.

EXPOSITION:

Sometimes, we think we have a better knowledge of what God commands than others. Worse still, we inadvertently erect a standard of expectation for others far beyond what God demands. Some people feel good doing this because they believe they're helping them. But in reality, they are destroying whatever little faith in God others have left.

Such was the effect of the words of Job's friend, Eliphaz. When he started his speech, he commended Job for all the good and notable things he had done. But soon, he began to hint that there may be need for him to repent from some unknown sins. He urged him to turn to God and be forgiven. Thereafter, he would begin to prosper greatly; the Almighty shall protect him, and he would delight in God. When he prays, God will hear; whatever he decrees shall be done. God should shine His light on him; lift him up and save him from all his troubles. These are all truths; only that they did not apply to Job and his circumstances.

Many injuries have been inflicted as a result of rash judgements and insinuations that are totally untrue. Some young believers in faith have had to backslide as a result to receiving condemnation from those whose duty is to make them grounded in faith.

We must ensure at all times that we do not condemn those God has justified. Even when we see people suffering from many adversities, we must not hastily assume that it is because of their sins. Of course, where we see obvious sins, we should encourage them to repent and turn to God. But if they are living as believers, we should assure them of the unfailing promises of God and affirm to them His faithfulness to help His children.

PRAYER POINT: LORD, Lift up My hands which hang down and My feeble knees in Jesus name.

EXPLOIT THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for SUNDAY, 28TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: EXPLOIT THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

MEMORIZE: "“who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high," (Hebrews 1:3).

SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 1:26-27.

"²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself."

EXPOSITION:

The saints in Christ enjoy far greater, better and richer life that the sages in the Old Testament (OT).

1. In OT, the High Priest could not connect with God directly but through Moses, while in NT, the High Priest is God-man, Jesus Christ vv1,2, Hebrews 1:1,2.

2. Our High Priest, Jesus Christ is perfect and has no need to offer sacrifices for His sins unlike OT High Priest vv3,5,7, Hebrews 7:26,27.

3. People in OT must come to the altar with animals to sacrifice while in NT, you only come to God with faith in the blood of Jesus and nothing else vv11,15,18,19, Romans 3:25. "Nothing but the blood of Jesus"

4. The High Priest entered the Holy of holies with fear that God could strike him dead at anytime if he made a mistake. In NT, we are asked to come to God with boldness and assurance because of the efficacy of the blood of Jesus Hebrews 4:16. No need for guilty conscience after repentance.

5. Sweet incense on burning coals of fire must accompany the sacrifice in OT vv12,13. In NT, passionate prayer is needful in order to enjoy the benefits of the cross Revelation 8:3,4. If you are not enjoying the full life, maybe this is lacking.

5. Check Hebrews 7-10 for comparison between the OT and NT privileges.

ESCHATOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS

a. The NT saints is called the Bride of Christ and their dispensation will be terminated with the Rapture Ephesians 5:23,25,32, I Thessalonians 4:13-17.

b. The Jewish temple will be built again, and after the Rapture, the Antichrist will enter and sit in the Holy of holies and proclaim that he is God. This will trigger the battle of Armageddon during the Great Tribulation 2:3,4.

Praise the Lord for the shed blood of Jesus that makes total forgiveness and perfection possible

Ask God to teach you how to always exercise faith in the blood of Jesus better for all your needs

Ask for more fervency in prayers

Pray that Jesus will reveal Himself to people of other religions in this nation and that they will come to Christ for salvation

Ask that God will release the blood of Jesus to stop the spread of COVID-19 plague🙏

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help your Church to endure persecution without compromising our faith in you in Jesus name.

UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO GOD

SATURDAY, 27TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO GOD

MEMORIZE: "And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat" (LEVITICUS 16:2).

SCRIPTURE READING: LEVITICUS 16:1-19.

EXPOSITION:

Imagine trying to make an appointment with the president of the United States of America. You telephone the Whitehouse, tell them who you are and that you would like to make an appointment. The questions come thick and fast: "Who are you? Where are you from? What is the nature of your enquiry? Can anyone else help you? He is very busy." But if the president's son calls him, that's not the kind of response he'll get. It will be, "Oh yes, I'll put you right through." That's the kind of access we have with God.

Aaron's two sons died in the presence of the Lord after offering strange fire before Him. Aaron was reminded once again of the requirements to approach God in the most holy place. He was to offer a young bullock for a sin offering and a ram as burnt offering for himself and his household, and was also required to wash himself in water before putting on the priestly garments. For the children of Israel, he was to take two goats and cast lot. The one chosen would be offered as sin offering, while the second, the scapegoat was presented alive before the Lord to make an atonement after which it will be released into the wilderness. The blood of the sin offering would be sprinkled on the mercy seat for the cleansing of the people.

From Matthew's gospel, immediately Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, opening the way to the most holy place. This means the barrier between the presence of God and mankind has now been removed. However, unlike the time of old, today, if you must have access to God, it has to be granted through His own chosen medium, Jesus Christ. He is the mediator between lost humanity and God. Religion alone cannot save, but Christ.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Christ's death has granted us unrestrained access to God.

ENDURING PERSECUTION

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE  for Friday, 26TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: ENDURING PERSECUTION

MEMORIZE: "Shall evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my life. Remember that I stood before You To speak good for them, To turn away Your wrath from them." (Jeremiah 18:20).

SCRIPTURE READING: Jeremiah 18:18-23.

"¹⁸ Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words."

¹⁹ Give heed to me, O Lord, And listen to the voice of those who contend with me!

²⁰ Shall evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my life. Remember that I stood before You To speak good for them, To turn away Your wrath from them.

²¹ Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, And pour out their blood By the force of the sword; Let their wives become widows And bereaved of their children. Let their men be put to death, Their young men be slain By the sword in battle.

²² Let a cry be heard from their houses, When You bring a troop suddenly upon them; For they have dug a pit to take me, And hidden snares for my feet.

²³ Yet, Lord, You know all their counsel Which is against me, to slay me. Provide no atonement for their iniquity, Nor blot out their sin from Your sight; But let them be overthrown before You. Deal thus with them In the time of Your anger."

EXPOSITION:

The poor mother of a boy had prepared the only food left at home for the child as he got ready to go to school. On noticing that there was nothing else for the mother to eat, the boy started crying out of compassion for his mother. Meanwhile, as he could not explain why he was crying, the mother misunderstood it for ingratitude and started to beat him. When he came back from school, he was able to explain to the mother while he cried that morning. She hugged him and  for his forgiveness.asked

Jeremiah was also often misunderstood for his messages of judgement from God which he must deliver to his people. But he had concern and sympathy for their well-being and continued preservation. Meanwhile, his people whose good he sought, misread him and buffeted him with imprisonment, starvation and threats of death. He cried to God for retributive judgement against those persecutors.

While vengeful prayers were common under the Old Testament dispensation, it is no longer so in the New. Christ, our perfect example, did not only teach His followers to love their enemies but also to pray for them (Luke 23:34). Steven also prayed for those who stoned him, which led to the salvation of Paul the apostle. Truly, persecution can at times overstretch the patience of the believer. But he is ordered to rejoice because of the future glory that awaits him (Revelation 2:10).

Are you suffering persecution today for Christ's sake? Cheer up, and look unto Him, "who for joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame..." Sooner or later, you will be with Him in glory if you do not give up.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Persecution may be fierce, but he that endures shall be saved.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help your Church to endure persecution without compromising our faith in you in Jesus name.

TWO GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE COEXISTING TODAY - Part 2

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for Thursday, 25TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: TWO GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE COEXISTING TODAY – Part 2

THE GENERATION OF TRUE SEEKERS

MEMORIZE: “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” Psalm 27:8.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 27:8-14.

“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.  Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."

EXPOSITION:

Yesterday, we study on God’s expectation on us to come back to him and have active unbroken fellowship with him but the people said, they will not return to him. Jer. 6:16. In contrast, the Psalmist, who is the symbol of Christians said, “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” Psalm 27:8. This is the generation of true seekers, true worshippers, who seek and worship God in Spirit and in truth - John 4:24.

The Lord promised that anyone that seek Him early shall see him. “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” Proverb 8:17. “I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.” Hosea 5:15.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. To have an unbroken relationship with God, we must come through Jesus Christ in the strength of the Holy Spirit. The blessings attached to maintaining our fellowship with God are enormous. The Lord says, “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16.

TWO GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE COEXISTING TODAY – Part 1

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for Wednesday, 24th AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: TWO GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE COEXISTING TODAY – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Ps 9:17.

SCRIPTURE READING: Jeremiah 6:15-17.

“Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time I punish them, They shall be cast down," says the LORD. Thus says the LORD: "Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.' Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'"

EXPOSITION:

Why did God create man in His image? Or what is the essence of our existence as human being? In the OT, it was to be like him and to show forth his praises and have dominion over all He had created – “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over… all the earth…" So God created man in His own image; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Gen. 1:26-28. In the OT, the primary purpose of our redemption is to show forth the praises of Christ our Saviour – “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; THAT YE SHOULD SHEW FORTH THE PRAISES OF HIM WHO HATH CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT:” 1 Peter 2:9. People living under the heaven are categorized into two generations, base on our relationship with out Maker. In a word, we are created to have FELLOWSHIP with Him. But are we having fellowship with Him as He desires?

Let’s look at the reactions of people toward this. The generation of the rebellion are those who refused to leave the life of sin. They found pleasure in wickedness and sometimes in secret sins. They cannot do anything that will not profit them. They have no pleasure in the will of God if it will not give them material profit. They are full of themselves to extent they have no regards for God. God keeps calling them to come back to Him and be saved, but they keep turning him down. It is written, “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? But they said, 'We will not walk in it.' Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'" Jeremiah 6:15-17.

Therefore, God’s judgment was pronounced in Proverbs 1:24-31 “Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.”

Can you bear this consequence? If not, then turn to God today in genuine repentance before it is too late. Don’t end like Judas Iscariot who repented too late and died of guilty conscience. "Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself." Matthew 27:3-5.

PRAYER POINT: Lord JESUS CHRIST, help all sinners to see you and acknowledge and accept you as their Lord and personal Saviour in Jesus name.

Topic: UNFAITHFUL SERVANTS/FOLLOWERS

MEMORIZE: “22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.” 2Kings 5:22.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 5:20-27.

“But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?  And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow."

EXPOSITION:

Gehazi was an example of an unfaithful servant or follower. Self-centeredness, greediness and hunger for fame and material wealth couple with ingratitude are the bedrock for unfaithfulness. Upon all the grace and benefits received in the ministry under prophet Elisha, Gehazi was still not contented. He lied against his boss before Naaman because of material gift. Covetousness was the bait the devil used to end him. He coveted the gift rejected by the Lord and earned leprosy with it.

Unfaithfulness to the leaders is like poison in the blood. It never allow the bearer to receive blessing from the leader. Gehazi could not receive the blessing to succeed his master. Unfaithfulness makes a servant a rebel to his master. King Saul was found unfaithful to Samuel and God, he was cursed – “And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:20-23.

God desires our faithfulness, unfaithfulness on our path will earn us judgment. Concerning king Saul, Prophet Samuel (his king’s maker) declared: “Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” 1 Samuel 15: 23.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to remain faithful to you so as not to see your wrath in Jesus name.

FAITHFUL SERVANTS / FOLLOWERS - Part 2

Monday, 22nd AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: FAITHFUL SERVANTS/FOLLOWERS – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:21.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Samuel 7:15-17.

“When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint. Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose bronze spear was three hundred shekels, who was bearing a new sword, thought he could kill David. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, "You shall go out no more with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel."

EXPOSITION:

Lessons Derived From David-Abishai Relationship

i. Abishai was one of the four hundreds vain men that came unto David when he was running away from king Saul.

ii. He, together with others, were trained and transformed from ordinary to mighty men of David.

iii. He took after his master (David) in brevity – “Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee. So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him. Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.” 2 Samuel 26:6-9.

“And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.” 2 Samuel 23:18.

iv. When David was fainted and was about to be killed, Abishai rose up, risked his life and kill “Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant” thereby rescued David from the sword of the enemy. He was found faithful and helpful to David. No wonder he was called “one of the mighty men of David.” God still compensate the faithful servant/follower with greatness and establish them in honor. Jesus said, “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?” Lu 16:11-12.

Are a faithful servant/follower to your boss / leaders? Can he/she trust you blindly? Can you rescue him/her at the point of death? Know for sure that faithfulness is not stupidity! God rewards the faithful servants. What kind of relationship do you have with you leader? Can your leader see you as a saviour or a murderer? Answer this questions; and it will define who you are.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, furnish my life with faithful servants like Abishai and help me to be a faithful follower/leader to those who need my help too in Jesus name.

FAITHFUL SERVANT /FOLLOWER - Part 1

SUNDAY, 21ST AUGUST, 2022.

FAITHFUL SERVANTS/FOLLOWERS – Part 1

EXPOSITION:

The standard for acceptable service from any steward (servant) is faithfulness – “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:2. Having faithful stewards/followers is as precious as having precious gold. David was a man of valour, strong in war front from his youth age. His fame started when he killed Goliath, the warlord of the Philistine. He was a man after God’s heart known for his brevity. But at his old age, he began to diminish in strength, yet enemies do not cease existing neither do they stop their threats. The Bible says, “When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint.” The strong man fainted at the battle before his enemy. At the time the enemy wants to make us of the advantage, “Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him.” 2 Samuel 21:17.

There are times in our lives that we lose strength due to circumstances and we need someone to stand for us. It takes only the faithful follower to rescue us in the day of evil. David had chance to kill king Saul (his supposed enemy) twice, but he did not kill him, because he feared God and was a faithful follower to him. Working with an unfaithful servant is walking on the path of suicide.

The armour bearer of king Saul 1 Samuel 30,  would not kill him though he has seriously wounded and death is inevitable for him because he was faithful to him. At the end when king Saul fell on his sword, he too did the same. An unfaithful servant will see it as opportunity to waste his boss. Are you a faithful servant to your leaders? As a leader, what is your relationship with your followers? Do they see you as good leader that worthy dying for? Examine yourself. Remember, you cannot live alone on earth and find life fulfilled.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to build healthy relationship with my followers and my superiors in Jesus name.

REMEMBER YOUR HUMBLE BEGINNING

Saturday, 20TH AUGUST, 2022.

REMEMBER YOUR HUMBLE BEGINNING

MEMORIZE: “Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts: "I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.” 2Sam 7:8.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Samuel 7:8-11

“Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts: "I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.”

EXPOSITION:

Every greatness has a starting point called small beginning. Failure to call to remembrance the memory of your beginning, you will likely end up in pride. God reminded David how he started as a shepherd boy with his father’s sheep in the bush before grace anointed him in preference above his brothers. He was anointed king over Israel. Saul sought to kill him on several occasion but God saved him all through. This goodness of God increased his virtues and value. Calling to remembrance your past makes you think and act wisely.

When king Saul was full of himself in pride, God reminded him his little beginning… “So Samuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel? "Now the LORD sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.' "Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the LORD?"” 1Samuel 15:17-19.

The word of God give us warning against being proud… “Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:6b, 10.

The question is: What do you have that you were not given? Then, why pride? You owe all to God, the great Provider and the One who can promote and increase value. Always remember where and how you started (the days of your little beginning) and apply your heart unto wisdom (Psalm 90:12).

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to always humble myself before you so as not to suffer forceful humiliation in Jesus name.

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for Friday, 19TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

MEMORIZE: “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:” Rom 3:22

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 3:21-22.

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”

EXPOSITION:

Our human struggle to be meet up with the righteousness of God is compared to filthy rags – “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”. Isaiah 64:6. The sinner establishes the law in its right use and honour by confessing his guilt, and acknowledging that by it he is justly condemned. Christ, on the sinner's behalf, establishes the law by enduring its penalty, death. Compare (Matt. 5:17-18).

The righteousness of God is neither an attribute of God, not the changed character of the believer, but Christ Himself, who fully met in our stead and behalf every demand of the law, and who is, but the act of God called imputation (Lev 25:50; Jam 2:23); "made unto us… righteousness" (1Co 1:30). "The believer in Christ is now, by grace, shrouded under so complete and blessed a righteousness that the law from Mt. Sinai can find neither fault nor diminution therein. This is that which is called “the righteousness of God by faith." (2Cor. 5:21; Rom 4:6; Rom 10:4; Phil 3:9; Rom 3:26. "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:" Romans 3:22.

PRAYERPOINT:

Lord, I hold unto your righteousness till the end in Jesus name.

FREE INDEED

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for THURSDAY, 18TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: FREE INDEED

MEMORIZE: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 8:34-37

“Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. "I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.”

EXPOSITION:

Sin is violation of law. It is the grea gtest enemy man has, not even the devil. The word of God admonished us to resist the devil – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” But when it comes to sin, the word of God says we should run away from it – “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” 1Cor. 6:18; “Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.” 1Cor. 10:14; “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” 1Tim. 6:11; “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2Tim. 2:22.

From the Scriptures, we discovered that the power the devil uses against humanity that made him appear stronger and terrific is sin. Any man that sins is of the devil – “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1John 3:8. Therefore, he that overcomes the devil is he that hath his sins forgiven. He that is born of God does not lust after sin, in reality, he hates it. “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” 1John 5:18. The moment we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour, we exchange our iniquities for His righteousness. We are no longer slaves to sin. But if anyone indulges in secret sin, he gives the devil chance to afflict him. Run away from secret sin. “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23.

PRAYER POINT: Father, I am redeemed by the blood of Your Son, May Jesus Christ, help me never to return into foolishness of sin in Jesus name.

PRESERVE THE HARVEST

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For WEDNESDAY, 17TH AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE  - General Overseer

Topic: PRESERVE THE HARVEST

MEMORIZE: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever l have commanded you: and, lo, l am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20

SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 28:18-20

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

EXPOSITION:

It is one thing to be able to gather a harvest; it is another thing entirely to preserve it. It is sad that while the Church is making valiant efforts to gather plentiful harvests through evangelism, numerous outreaches and programmes, even less and less is being done to preserve the souls won for Christ. Many souls are won to Christ on a daily basis, but how many will eventually remain in the body of Christ as committed Christians?.

ln Matthew 9:37, Jesus laments the scarcity of people committed to keeping His harvest. “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;” Many Christians are like drainages always receiving emoluments, yet without productivity. This is very dangerous as Jesus says He will take such people out of His vine. “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” John 15:2.

The parable of the talents teaches that the Lord expects every one of His children to diligently put their talents and special gifts into profitable use for the advancement of His kingdom. lf you fail to be fruitful or productive, then you are guilty of receiving the grace of God in vain, becoming an unprofitable servant. I pray that you will never be guilty of being an unprofitable servant in the mighty name of Jesus. Do everything within your power to be one of the few faithful labourers of the Lord Jesus today. Work very hard to win souls for Christ, and more importantly, preserve every harvest God brings your way through the work of other evangelists. May you not be found guilty of receiving the grace of God in vain in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to win souls and preserve the great harvest for You, in the mighty name of Jesus.

SOMEONE IS WAITING ON YOU. - Part 2

TUESDAY, 16TH AUGUST, 2022.

SOMEONE IS WAITING ON YOU! – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” Mark 9:27

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 9:26-29

“Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting."

EXPOSITION:

In verse 27, “Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” He arose! If you’ve laid hands on someone, and they haven’t looked healed, don’t let that tempt you into believing that healing didn’t come. Healing always comes. Your responsibility is to be obedient to the Word of God and lay hands on the sick. Now, not everyone may be healed. Sometimes people won’t receive the healing. Sometimes they’re full of fear or doubt or unforgiveness, and they can’t receive what God is giving them. But when that happens, the last thing you want to do is withdraw your faith and say, “Well, I guess it didn’t work this time.” Don’t do that! Your faith may be the only hope that person has! Keep believing God. Act like Jesus did. Trust. Don’t be moved by what you see with your natural eyes. Say, “Lord, I did what Your Word said. I laid hands on the sick and as far as I’m concerned, every person I’ve laid hands on is recovering. I’m standing in faith for that recovery. God, open the eyes of their understanding, so they can fully receive their healing.” Once you do that, never back off again. Go forward in faith. Boldly lay hands on the sick. Expect God to do exactly what He promised. And just like the little boy, there are people out there right now who need someone with enough faith to deliver their miracle—people who are waiting for someone just like you!

PRAYERPOINT:

Lord, use me for your glory and to the blessing of humanity in your strength in Jesus name.

SOMEONE IS WAITING ON YOU! – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” Mark 9:27

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 9:17-26

“Then one of the crowd answered and said, "Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. "And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not." He answered him and said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me." Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. "And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!" Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him.”

EXPOSITION:

Mark 9 recounts the story of a father who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus and asked for help. According to the scripture, Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded it to come out. Simple enough, we think. But in verse 26, Jesus was in a position to undo everything with unbelief...or simply trust. “And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.” What a situation! The man brings his son to Jesus for help. Jesus rebukes the spirit, casts it out, and now the boy looks dead! From a purely natural perspective, it looked as though Jesus had just made the situation worse. You’ve probably felt the same way where laying hands on the sick is concerned. Maybe you’ve laid hands on someone, and they haven’t looked healed. Or, maybe you’re not even willing to risk laying hands on someone because you aren’t sure they will be healed. Well, settle the issue here and now and forevermore. When Jesus was faced with what was happening to that little boy, He had more faith in the Word of God than He had in His natural senses. He wasn’t moved by physical appearances. He simply trusted that what He had said was done. He spoke and the boy was healed.

REMISSION OF SIN

SUNDAY, 14TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: REMISSION OF SIN

MEMORIZE: “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,” Acts 17:30.

SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 9:15.

“And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”

EXPOSITION:

REMISSION (ἄφεσις, áphesis , πάρεσις , páresis): The two Greek words, of which the latter occurs only in Romans 3:25, were translated by the same English word in the King James Version. In the Revised Version, paresis is translation "passing over." Remission is defined as an exemption from the consequences of an offense, forgiveness; while pretermission is the suspension of the penalty – "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,” Acts 17:30 ). Cremer, Lexicon of New Testament Greek, regards the meaning of the two words as identical, except that the one refers to the Old Testament and the other to the New Testament. Sins are remitted when the offender is treated as though the offense had never been committed. Remission is restricted to the penalty, while forgiveness refers more particularly to the person, although it may be used also of the sin itself.

Remission also is used of offenses against God's law; forgiveness, against either divine or human law. It is passing over or forgiveness of sins done aforetime, that is, since Adam. “And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” Heb. 9:15.

PRAYERPOINT:

Appreciate God for the remission of our sins without minding how terrible it has been.

Topic: OUR REDEMPTION

MEMORIZE: “to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:5

SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 4:4-7

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

EXPOSITION:

Redemption, "to deliver by paying a price." The New Testament doctrine. The New Testament records the fulfilment of the Old Testament types and prophecies of redemption through the sacrifice of Christ. The completed truth is set forth in the three words which are translated redemption

(1) Greek, "agorazo", "to purchase in the market." The underlying thought is of a slave-market. The subjects of redemption are "sold under sin" Rom 7:14 but are, moreover, under sentence of death; Ezek. 18:4; John 3:18-19; Rom 3:19; Gal 3:10; and the purchase price is the blood of the Redeemer who dies in their stead; Gal 3:13; 2Co 5:21; Mat 20:28; Mark 10:45; 1Tim 2:6; 1Peter 1:18.

(2) Greek, "exagorazo", "to buy out of the market." The redeemed are never again to be exposed to sale;

(3) Greek, "lutroo", "to loose,""to set free by paying a price" John 8:32; Gal 4:4-5, 31; Gal 5:13; Rom 8:21. Redemption is by sacrifice and by power. - Exod. 14:30.

Christ paid the price, the Holy Spirit makes deliverance actual in experience - Rom 8:2; Isa. 59:20; Rom 1:16.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, thank you Jesus for the redemption of my soul and of the world in Jesus name.

PROPITIATION

FRIDAY, 12TH AUGUST, 2022

Topic: PROPITIATION

MEMORIZE: “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2.

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 3:23-26.

“23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

EXPOSITION:

Literally, a propitiatory sacrifice, through faith by his blood; (Greek, "hilastērion", "place of propitiation"). The word occurs, (1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10) as the translation of the Greek, "hilasmos", "that which propitiates,""a propitiatory sacrifice." "Hilasterion" is used by the Septuagint, and Heb 9:5 for "mercy-seat." The mercy-seat was sprinkled with atoning blood in the day of atonement (Lev 16:14) in token that the righteous sentence of the law had been (typically) carried out, so that what must else have been a judgment-seat could righteously be a mercy-seat; (Heb 9:11-15; Heb 4:14-16); a place of communion (Exod. 25:21); (Exod. 25:22).

In fulfilment of the type, Christ is Himself the "hilasmos", "that which propitiates," and the "hilasterion", "the place of propitiation" -- the mercy-seat sprinkled with His own blood -- the token that in our stead He so honoured the law by enduring its righteous sentence that God, who ever foresaw the cross, is vindicated in having "passed over" sins from Adam to Moses (Rom 5:13) and the sins of believers under the old covenant - (Exod. 29:33) and just in justifying sinners under the covenant. There is no thought in propitiation of pacifying a vengeful God, but of doing right by His holy law and so making it possible for Him righteously to show mercy. Through propitiation in person of Jesus Christ, God the Father was pacified and satisfied to forgive us and restore us back unto Himself. What a willful sacrificial life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Therefore, the price of our redemption is not free, it costs Jesus His own life. Hallelujah.

ACTION POINT:

Give thanks to God Jesus Christ for making Himself propitiation for our sins that enabled our salvation.

CONDEMNATION - Part 2

Thursday, 11TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: CONDEMNATION – Part 2

In the New Testament Perspective

MEMORIZE: “Though I were righteous, my own mouth would condemn me; Though I were blameless, it would prove me perverse.” Job 9:20.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 3:17-18

“"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

EXPOSITION:

Today, we are continuing looking at condemnation in New Testament perspective. Let us examine Greek definition of the Word, "CONDEMNATION" The New Testament usage of condemnation is much more complicated, both because of the greater number of Greek words rendered "condemn" and "condemnation," and because the King James Version translates the same word in several different ways, apparently with no rule whatever.

(1) The most important word is krı́no, "to judge." From it are a number of derivative verbs and nouns. the Revised Version has rigidly excluded the harsh words "damn" and "damnation," substituting "judge," "condemn," "judgment," "condemnation." This is proper, since the word damn (Latin, damnare , "to inflict loss" upon a person, "to condemn"), and its derivatives has, in process of time, suffered degradation, so that in modern English it usually refers to eternal punishment. This special application of the word for some centuries ran side by side with the original meaning, but the word "damn" is usually employed in the sense of condemn, as in Job 9:20, "My mouth shall dampne me." It is even applied to the condemnation of Jesus by the chief priests and scribes (Mark 10:33). Krinō is rendered condemnation (John 3:17-18; John 12:47; Acts 7:7; "might be damned," in 2 Thessalonians 2:12 KJV; Romans 14:22; James 5:9).

(2) The more specific sense of condemn, however, is found in katakrı́no, "to judge one down" (Matthew 12:41-42; Mark 14:64 ): "is damned if he eat". In Romans 14:23; 1 Corinthians 11:32. the KJV; RSV used "condemned"). See also Mark 16:16; 2 Peter 2:6 .

(3) For "condemnation" there is the noun, krı́ma in a forensic sense, "the sentence of the judge" (Luke 23:40; Matthew 23:14, "condemnation of the devil" 1 Timothy 3:6; 1 Timothy 5:12; Judges 1:4 ).

(4) Much stronger is, "katákrima", "condemnation" (Romans 5:16, Romans 5:18; Romans 8:1) with reference to the Divine judgment against sin.

5. krı́sis, "the process of judgment," "tribunal" (John 3:19; John 5:24), with reference to "the judgment brought by men upon themselves because of their rejection of Christ."

(6) A stronger word is the adjective, autokatákritos, "self-condemned" (Titus 3:11; compare 1 John 3:20, 1 John 3:21).

In summary, sin brought condemnation upon all humanity. Who can deliver us from this great condemnation? Only the sinless blood, death and resurrection of the sinless Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) can pacify the angry God. Only the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ pay the price of our redemption in full. As many that have accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ is no more under condemnation but have passed from death unto life. Hallelujah!!!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, thank You for redeeming me from eternal condemnation through your sacrificial death and glorious resurrection in Jesus name.

CONDEMNATION - Part 1

WEDNESDAY, 10TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: CONDEMNATION – Part 1

In the Old Testament Perspective

MEMORIZE: “But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?” Lu 23:40.

SCRIPTURE READING: Job 40:7-8.

“Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me: "Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?”

EXPOSITION:

Biblical definitions for condemnation in the Old Testament perspective.

(1) The causative stem of רשׁע , rāsha‛ "to declare (or make) wrong,""to condemn," whether in civil, ethical or religious relations. Taken in this sense the word needs no comment (Exodus 22:9; Deuteronomy 25:1; Job 40:8 ); "Who then can condemn?" (Job 34:29).

(2) ענשׁ , ‛ānash , "to fine.""Condemned the land" (2 Chronicles 36:3) "amerced"; "fined"); "wine of the condemned" ( Amos 2:8) "fined unjustly”).

(3) The active participle of שׁפט , shāphaṭ , "to judge.""From those that condemn his soul" (Psalms 109:31) "that judge his soul").

Men got condemnation through sin (disobedience) and sin brought death. No man can save another, neither can any angel died for the redemption of our sins. Men were helpless and without hope. Our condemnation denied us hope of liberty. But while we were yet sinners, Christ, through mercy and grace, died for us. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34.

PRAYERPOINT:

Thank you Jesus Christ for taking away my sins and condemnation and replaced it with joy of the salvation in Jesus name.

MINISTERING ANGELS SENT TO SERVE

TUESDAY, 9TH  AUGUST, 2022.

Topuc: MINISTERING SPIRITS SENT TO SERVE

MEMORIZE: Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING: Heb 1:13-14 (NKJV)

¹³ But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"? ¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation"

EXPOSITION:

The first chapter of Hebrews is an exaltation of Jesus, the Son of God. The Son was the agent of creation, the radiance of God's glory, and the exact representation of his being. He provided purification for sins and is now sitting at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

It appears like there was a temptation among early believers to exalt and worship angels. Colossians 2:18 alludes to this, with Paul warning the Colossian church about those who delight in the worship of angels. The author of Hebrews makes clear in this first chapter that the Son is superior to the angels. That he is the one we should worship. He is far above the angels and everything else in the created order.

ABOUT ANGELS

But what about angels? This chapter closes with the author telling us that angels are ministering spirits sent to serve us who are inheriting salvation. The Scripture does not tell us a lot about angels, leading to endless speculation. But they are sent to help us in some way. It is hard to know what that might be since we have the indwelling Spirit of God. But I think the author's primary intent here was not to tell us what angels did, as much as to clearly distinguish them from the Son. The Son is worthy of our worship. The angels are sent to serve. Keep your focus on the Son, not on the angels. Or anything else in the creation.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me not to provoke my guiding angel in Jesus name.

THE CHARIOT IS READY - Part 1

MONDAY, 8TH  AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: THE CHARIOT IS READY – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:52.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

“For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

EXPOSITION:

Chariot is a light two wheel horse drawn ceremonial carriage. It is used for war and reared in ancient Egypt and Greece and Rome. It is also used as means of transportation. It is used for funfair by men of honour. But in the case of our devotion today, we want to examine the chariot is ready in the case of rapture is at hand. Jesus is coming back soon to come and take His people away to himself. He will come with the shout of the trumpet of the archangel . All the signs of His coming are almost all fulfilled. How are you preparing for His coming.

Like the chariot that took Elijah away from Elijah without notifying him (Elisha), so will the coming of the Son of man be. He will come and meet many people unprepared. Many people are already doubting His second coming, thereby living a loosed life of unchecked sin. He will come like a thief in the night. His coming will be like the rain of the Noah. Men will be feasting, marrying and giving to marriage, His coming will meet them unprepared and will miss the rapture. Are you prepared? Nineveh heard the word of God, repented and were saved. But this generation is hearing the word of God, and is mocking it, not believing it. Notwithstanding, this will not stop the coming of Jesus Christ. He that hath ear, let him hear what the Spirit ids telling the Church. The chariot is ready, be ready!

ACTION POINT:

Don’t wait to be victim of your negligence and disobedience. Get prepare for the rapture. There is no second faction of it.

THE GREAT CONTROVERSY

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE - SUNDAY, 7TH  AUGUST, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

Topic: THE GREAT CONTROVERSY

MEMORIZE: “Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."” Romans 3:4.

SCRIPTURE READING: Job 1:6-12

“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it." Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? "Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. "But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!" And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.”

EXPOSITION:

All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God’s adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the global flood, as presented in the historical account of Genesis 1-11. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Gen. 3; 6-8; Job 1:6-12; Isa. 14:12-14; Ezek. 28:12-18; Rom. 1:19-32; 3:4; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14; 1 Peter 5:8; 2 Peter 3:6; Rev. 12:4-9.)

PRAYERS POINT:

Lord, help me not to disappoint you in the battle of life in Jesus name.

THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

SATURDAY, 6TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

MEMORISE: “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING:  Timothy 4:5-8 (NKJV).

“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

EXPOSITION:

As Paul wrote this second letter to Timothy, his son in the faith, he was facing imminent execution. Yet Paul was anything but discouraged or troubled by this thought. He had been faithful to his Lord since he had encountered him on the road to Damascus. Paul had fought the good fight and finished the race set out for him. He had kept the faith. And, as his life on earth drew to a close, he was looking forward to Jesus awarding him a victor's crown, the crown of righteousness. Paul's conviction was that this same crown awaits all who are eagerly looking forward to Jesus' return.

I am not sitting on death road like Paul was when he wrote this. I will likely remain here in this life for a few years longer. My hope and prayer are that those years will be in faithful service to my Lord. But more and more, I am looking forward to what awaits me when the Lord calls me home and awards me the crown of righteousness. What a wonderful day that will be.

PRAYERS POINT:

Lord, uphold me uncompromisingly in this kingdom race till I see you face to face in Jesus name.

HOLD FIRM TO SOUND DOCTRINE

Friday, 5TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: HOLD FIRMLY TO SOUND DOCTRINE

MEMORIZE: “He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.” Titus 1:9 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Timothy 3:16-17

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

EXPOSITION:

Paul had left Titus in Crete to, among other things, appoint elders in each town. And Paul gave Titus some criteria to use in this selection. And that included the doctrinal integrity of potential leaders within the church. They should hold firmly to what they had been taught so that they could faithfully pass it on to others. As well as to refute those who were teaching contrary to sound doctrine.

So just what is sound doctrine? Doctrine is a word that means teaching. For the church of Paul's day, sound doctrine was teaching that conformed to what Jesus and his apostles had taught them as well as the Scriptures they had. It is no different for us today except that the teachings of Jesus and the apostles have been written down and collected together in our New Testament. We must hold on to it and teach it undiluted and hand it over to the next generation unpolluted. Though it is a pity that many occupants of the altars are already adulterated and their preaching is polluted, to this effect, they only produce half-baked (undone) followers; those that have never experienced Calvary. We must repent and return to the sound doctrine of the Scriptures.

PRAYERS POINT:

Lord, help all your ministers to hold on to the sound doctrine of the Scripture in order to produce heavenly candidates in Jesus name.

GRACE

 Thursday, 4TH AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: GRACE

MEMORIZE: “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17.

SCRIPTURE READING: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29.

EXPOSITION:

Grace is not only dispensationally a method of divine dealing in salvation – John 1:17, but is also the method of God in the believer's life and service. As saved, he is "not under the law, but under grace". (Rom 6:14). Having by grace brought the believer into the highest conceivable position Eph 1:6. God ceaselessly works through grace, to impart to, and perfect in him, corresponding graces. (John 15:4-5; Gal 5:22-23).

Grace, therefore, stands connected:

i. With service; Rom 12:6; Rom 15:15-16; 1 Cor. 1:3-7, 10; 1 Cor. 15:10; 2 Cor. 12:9; 2 Cor. 12:10; Gal 2:9; Eph 3:7; Eph 3:8; Eph 4:7; Philp. 1:7; 2 Tim. 2:1-2; 1 Peter 4:10.

ii. With Christian growth; (2Co 1:12; Eph 4:29; Col 3:16; Col 4:6; 2Thess. 1:12; Heb 4:16; Heb 12:28-29; Heb 13:9; Jam 4:6; 1Peter 1:2; 3:7; 5:5; 5:10; 2Peter 3:18; Judges 1:4; and

iii. With giving; (2Co 4:15); (2Co 8:1); (2Co 8:6); (2Co 8:7); (2Co 8:19); (2Co 9:14).

Grace imparted. Romans 6:1-3 reads “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?”

“You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:17-18.

PRAYERS POINT: LORD, help me to grow in grace in Jesus name.

PRAYERS FOR THE YOUTHS

WEDNESDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: PRAYERS FOR THE YOUTHS.

MEMORIZE: That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: Psalms 144:12

SCRIPTURE READING: ECCLESIASTES 12:1-4

1. Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; 2. While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: 3. In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, 4. And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low;

PRAYERS POINT:

1. Thank God for the youths even if you are one yourself. Praise Him for giving them strength, agility and a glorious future.

2. Father, don’t let the devil win over the lives of our youths. Please help them to overcome every temptation that comes their way and don’t let them give in to negative peer pressure.

3. Father, raise youths who will uphold Your name in their generation, youths who will stand for You and will not be ashamed to preach the gospel at all times.

4. Father, whenever we hear from our youths, let it always be good news news of promotion, great achievements, breakthroughs and miracles, in the mighty name of Jesus.

5. Father, anoint our youths greatly and perform great miracles through them.

6. Father, for all our youths of marriageable age and status, please let their wedding bells ring this year.

7. Father, let our youths be greater than their parents and the elders of today.

8. Father, don’t let the sun of our youths set prematurely. Don’t let us ever bury our youths.

HEAVEN REJOICES

TUESDAY, 2ND AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: HEAVEN REJOICE.

MEMORISE: I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Luke 15:7

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 15:1-7

1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

EXPOSITION:

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1.

Hebrews 12:1 says we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. This means that the host of Heaven are constantly observing us and our actions on the earth. Sadly, when they look down, most of what they see is sin.

Yes, once in a while, these clouds of witnesses see one or two people who surrender their lives to Christ and the whole Heaven erupts in joy because of this one fellow. This is why I use every opportunity to win souls to Christ; I want Heaven to rejoice always. What about you? When last did Heaven rejoice because you brought someone to Christ? “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16

The statement Jesus made in the above verse is very logical. First, God loves soul winners- so whatever they ask, He will give. Imagine if someone who always makes you happy comes with a request. Even if the father of the house wants to say no, every other person will speak up for him and say “Daddy, we cannot say no to the request of this fellow, he is special to us in this family.” That is what happens when a soul winner prays. The whole of Heaven will cooperate to ensure that the prayer is answered because you are constantly making them rejoice.

When we gather for services, Heaven doesn’t rejoice over the great sermon, music, communion or giving, rather in souls won. Heaven will ask “Did anyone get saved?” If you are saved, share the gospel to save others. If you are yet to surrender all to Christ, do so now and there would be great rejoicing in Heaven over you. Therefore, Speak to someone about Jesus today and make this a daily habit.

PRAYER POINT:

LORD, help us to be active souls winners from today onward in Jesus name.

A NEW BEGINNING

MONDAY, 1ST AUGUST, 2022.

Topic: A NEW BEGINNING

MEMORIZE: " So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." (2 Kings 5:14).

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Samuel 5:1, 14.

“Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper… So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.”

EXPOSITION:

You are welcome to the eight month in this year. Number Eight represents “New Beginning”. From our today’s Scripture reading, Naaman was the commander of the army of the king of Syria. He was a great and honorable in the eyes of his master. By him, God had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.

Leprosy is the predominant and characteristic form of leprosy in the Old Testament is a white variety, covering either the entire body or a large tract of its surface, which has obtained the name of Lepra mosaica. Such were the cases of Moses - Ex 4:6; Miriam - Nu 12:10; Naaman - 2 Kings 5:1; and Gehazi - 2 Kings 5:27. But, remarkably enough, in the Mosaic ritual diagnosis of the disease.

It was a critical sign of pollution. The tendency to spread seems especially to have been relied on. A spot most innocent in other respects, if it "spread much abroad," was unclean; whereas, as before remarked, the man so wholly overspread with the evil that it could find no further range was on the contrary "clean." - Leviticus 13:1, 13, 14:1.

But when Naaman had encounter with God of Israel, he was miraculously cleansed. He then had a new beginning of new and healthy life. In this new month of August, hold unto God for the miracle of new beginning of a fortune and honour. Your old life of struggle without fruition shall receive healing and you shall experience new beginning of greater success and prosperity. Only God can do it as He did it for Naaman.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, cause me to experience the new beginning of greater fortunes and honor in Jesus name.
