WAIT ON GOD

FRIDAY, 1ST JULY, 2022

Topic: WAIT ON GOD

MEMORIZE: "Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us" (PSALM 123:2).

SCRIPTURE READING: PSALM 123:1-4.

"A Song of Ascents. Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the Lord our God, Until He has mercy on us. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud." (NKJV).

EXPOSITION:

It is wise indeed to seek help when under threat or faced with challenging circumstances. The problem is that it is equally in the nature and character of a man to exhaust all his physical options before turning to God as a last resort. But the Lord ought to be our first port of call when we need help. That is the pertinent message conveyed here by the psalmist who was evidently confronted with daunting circumstances.

And he realised early enough that enduring solutions lie nowhere else than in the Lord. He likened himself to a servant expecting deliverance from his master and to a maiden seeking succour from her mistress. Also, he indicated no intention of turning elsewhere until God intervenes in his dire situation. He pleaded passionately with the Lord to have mercy on him and his people who were now pressed hard by enemies. Obviously, the enemies were very confident they would overwhelm the psalmist and his people. Hence, they exceedingly scorned them.

You may be despised by those who think they have the power to determine your fate in life. They may even reproach you for trusting in the Lord to help you. They may frighten and attempt to weaken your faith by boasting of their previous accomplishments in dealing harshly with their enemies. But your only recourse should be to turn to the Lord in prayer.

First ensure, like the psalmist, that the Lord is indeed your God by turning away from all your sins. Then you must pray to Him to have mercy and save you from all your troubles. If you depend on God, He will sooner than later, rebuke the proud and boastful enemies and grant you victory. All you need to do is to wait on God, He will not abandon you.

You are blessedly welcome to the second half of the year, 2022. Receive grace to end it well, prospering and flourishing in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

i. LORD, I received grace to wait on completely and wholeheartedly in Jesus name.

ii. I will trust You with my life henceforth and receive the blessing of waiting on You in Jesus name.

THE BEST AND UNFAILING OPTION FOR SOLUTIONS

THURSDAY, 30TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE BEST AND UNFAILING OPTION FOR SOLUTIONS

MEMORIZE: “'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'”  - Jeremiah 33:3.

SCRIPTURE READING: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' "Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them-Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'” – Psalm 123:1-4.

EXPOSITION:

There are numerous options for solution on earth and people at different times have taste of preference differ to one another in the time of trouble. Many of these preferred solution have deadly and highly regrettable ends. But the best and unfailing option for solutions is found absolutely in Jesus Christ.

1. The best option is to always lift up your eyes to the heavens while looking for solutions to challenges of life? v1.

a. Think of your challenges. Where do you look up to for solutions?

b. Why do you think God is the best option? Think.

2. The easiest way to always receive from God is to be occupied with His service v2. Servitude to sin, self and Satan always close the door of mercy.

a. Is God your Master in all your decisions?

b. Do you take service to God as your priority?

3. Some of the challenges those serving God may face:

a. Contempt from those too proud to submit to God - v4.

b. Exceeding contempt by those who are careless with spiritual things – vs. 3,4.

c. What are some of the other challenges you are facing? Mercy takes over when your faith cannot carry it as you look up to the heavens - v3.

PRAYER POINT:

i. O Lord, I hereby consecrate to you that while You may use anybody for me, only You will be my confidence henceforth.

ii. Lord, I have not been serving you enough. Inasmuch you sent Jesus to serve me, I also from today will be serving You with all my heart

iii. God of heaven, you are our ultimate solution to kidnapping, rituals, robberies and religious violence. Have mercy on this helpless world and bring an end to these plagues.

HOW TO TRANSFORM FROM WRETCHEDNESS TO NOBILITY

WEDNESDAY, 29TH JUNE, 2022

HOW TO TRANSFORM FROM WRETCHEDNESS TO NOBILITY

MEMORIZE: “Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.” 1 Corinthians 4:9-10.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Corinthians 4:1-10.

“The sons of Judah were Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. And Reaiah the son of Shobal begot Jahath, and Jahath begot Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites. These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi; and Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah the father of Bethlehem. And Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, and Ethnan; and Koz begot Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.”

EXPOSITION:

The text contains a long list of names, obviously, with nothing special to write about them except only one person called Jabez as recorded in verses 9,10. Jabez was called a son of sorrow and has his life full of affliction and wretchedness but he took the right steps at the right time and his story changed for better. These were the steps he took that gave him a transformed life:

1. KNOWLEDGE: He knew that, being a seed of Abraham, he was a blessed person by covenant vv9,10. As a child of God, you are joint heirs of all that God has both in heaven and earth. Do you belief this?

2. REFUSAL: He refused to be limited by his birth, background, brain, backwardness, bondage, barriers etc. vv9,10. What about you?

3. FAITH: He had the personal relationship with God that helped his faith in God of all possibilities vv9,10. Are you born again and having a deep relationship with God?

4. CLEAR Vision: He had a clear vision of what God has predestined him to be in life as a seed of Abraham vv9,10. His desire was along this divine vision.

5. "KNEEOLOGY": He made desperate, well defined, devil scaring and daring prayers to God vv9,10.

PRAYER POINTS:

i. Oh Lord, I plead that you will not allow me to live an inconsequential life in my generation in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, I refuse all forms of limitations in my life. Give me spiritual power to break all of them and soar high in all areas of my life.

iii. Pray for divine visitation for children of God who have ignorantly resigned to wretchedness or mediocrity.

iv. Pray for complete failure and disappointments for all super power personalities that want to take the position of God.

A PASSIONATE PRAYER

TUESDAY, 28TH JUNE, 2022

A PASSIONATE PRAYER

MEMORIZE: "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested" (1 Chronicles 4:10).

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.

“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.”

EXPOSITION:

God is a changeless changer of man, his situations and circumstances. He provides perfect solutions to man's problems. The case of Jabez in our text is a classic example of how a bad life scenario was dramatically changed through a thoughtful and wise decision to approach God who alone has the power to make and unmake every situation through prayer and faith.

This Israelite, whose life had become synonymous with failure, shame and sorrows, had to break off the chains of frustration and disappointment when he made a heartrending prayer to God to rewrite the story of his life. God heard and granted his request. The after effect of his passionate prayer was that God made an honorable man of an erstwhile nobody. Our God is waiting for more sons and daughters who will dare pray to Him like Jabez, so that He would bless them.

The story of your life can be rewritten today if you will humbly approach the Lord in penitence for your sins and pride - beseech Him to cleanse you and clear every debt of sin you owe which demands judgement. The faithful Judge of repentant sinners will discharge and acquit you this day. You will have peace like a river and prosper like Jabez did. Through passionate prayer, we can bring succour to our helpless world. Call upon the One who answers prayers now and see things change in your life and ministry. Prayer remains the key that opens heaven's doors of abundance and prosperity.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to remain relevant in your heavenly calling in Jesus name.

DESIRE OF THE RIGHTEOUS

MONDAY, 27TH JUNE, 2022

DESIRE OF THE RIGHTEOUS

MEMORIZE: "Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end" Psalm 119:33).

SCRIPTURE READING: PSALM 119:33-40.

“Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way. Establish Your word to Your servant, Who is devoted to fearing You. Turn away my reproach which I dread, For Your judgments are good. Behold, I long for Your precepts; Revive me in Your righteousness.”

EXPOSITION:

We live in a world where many people are preoccupied with thoughts of how to get rich. Consequently, they enmesh themselves in the rat-race for money. Added to this are quests for knowledge and scientific discovery which have made many to attach little or no value to spiritual matters. They care little about their relationship with God.

In contrast, the psalmist in our text expressed a burning desire for spiritual things. Being a righteous man, he was always thinking of his relationship with God, how to please Him at all times and dwell with Him in eternity. He had previously expressed his heartfelt desires by saying, "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:1,2).

Through his petitions, the psalmist expressed his heart's desire: he wanted to know more of God's statutes in order to keep them. He never got too familiar with God's word. We should never be satisfied with the level of our spiritual state. There is need for us to constantly long for God and His word.

Every heaven-bound pilgrim should always pray for grace to be preserved from the pollution of this present evil world. The coming of the Lord is imminent. Daily self-examination is indispensable for every believer who desires to be part of His Kingdom. The Lord is not interested in partial obedience; rather, He delights in total obedience to His commandments.

WISE WORD: Never get too familiar with God's word.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I receive the grace to be preserved from the pollution of this present evil world in Jesus name.

GET THEE UP INTO THE HIGH MOUNTAIN

SUNDAY, 26TH JUNE, 2022

GET THEE UP INTO THE HIGH MOUNTAIN

MEMORIZE: "“O Zion, You who bring good tidings, Get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, You who bring good tidings, Lift up your voice with strength, Lift it up, be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!""  Isaiah 40:9

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 40:9-11.

“O Zion, You who bring good tidings, Get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, You who bring good tidings, Lift up your voice with strength, Lift it up, be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand, And His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him. He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.”

EXPOSITION:

Each believer should be thirsting for God, for the living God, and longing to climb the hill of the Lord, and see Him face to face. We ought not to rest content in the mists of the valley when the summit of Tabor awaits us. My soul thirsteth to drink deep of the cup which is reserved for those who reach the mountain's brow, and bathe their brows in heaven. How pure are the dews of the hills, how fresh is the mountain air, how rich the fare of the dwellers aloft, whose windows look into the New Jerusalem! Many saints are content to live like men in coal mines, who see not the sun; they eat dust like the serpent when they might taste the ambrosial meat of angels; they are content to wear the miner's garb when they might put on king's robes; tears mar their faces when they might anoint them with celestial oil. Satisfied I am that many a believer pines in a dungeon when he might walk on the palace roof, and view the goodly land and Lebanon. Rouse thee, O believer, from thy low condition! Cast away thy sloth, thy lethargy, thy coldness, or whatever interferes with thy chaste and pure love to Christ, thy soul's Husband. Make Him the source, the centre, and the circumference of all thy soul's range of delight. What enchants thee into such folly as to remain in a pit when thou mayst sit on a throne? Live not in the lowlands of bondage now that mountain liberty is conferred upon thee. Rest no longer satisfied with thy dwarfish attainments, but press forward to things more sublime and heavenly. Aspire to a higher, a nobler, a fuller life. Upward to heaven! Nearer to God!

"When wilt Thou come unto me, Lord? Oh come, my Lord most dear! Come near, come nearer, nearer still, I'm blest when Thou art near."

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I desire more of you in life, ignite my inner fire to be burning continuously in Jesus name.

THE GIFT AND CALLING OF GOD IS WITHOUT REPENTANCE

SATURDAY, 25TH JUNE, 2022

THE GIFT AND CALLING OF GOD IS WITHOUT REPENTANCE

MEMORIZE: “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”  - Remain 11:29

SCRIPTURE READING: “And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” – Romans 11:26-29.

EXPOSITION:

God's gracious intentions concerning Israel were made the matter of a covenant, which the God that cannot lie could not but be true and faithful to. They were the children of the covenant, Acts 3:25. The apostle adds, When I shall take away their sins, which some think refers to Isaiah 27:9, or only to the foregoing words, to turn away ungodliness. Pardon of sin is laid as the foundation of all the blessings of the new covenant (Hebrews 8:12): For I will be merciful. Now from all this he infers that certainly God had great mercy in store for that people, something answerable to the extent of these rich promises: and he proves his inference (Romans 11:29) by this truth: For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. Repentance is sometimes taken for a change of mind, and so God never repents, for he is in one mind and who can turn him? Sometimes for a change of way, and that is here understood, intimating the constancy and unchangeableness of that love of God which is founded in election. Those gifts and callings are immutable whom he so loves, he loves to the end. We find God repenting that he had given man a being (Genesis 6:6, It repented the Lord that he had made man), and repenting that he had given a man honour and power (1 Samuel 15:11, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king) but we never find God repenting that he had given a man grace, or effectually called him those gifts and callings are without repentance.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to remain relevant in your heavenly calling in Jesus name.

THE CONSEQUENCE OF UNCONQUERED WEAKNESS – Part 2

FRIDAY, 24TH JUNE, 2022

THE CONSEQUENCE OF UNCONQUERED WEAKNESS – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. " - Proverbs 6:33.

SCRIPTURE READING: “Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, And his reproach will not be wiped away. For jealousy is a husband's fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will accept no recompense, Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts.” – Proverbs 6:32-35.

EXPOSITION:

Other Consequences Of His Unconquered Weakness Includes:

i. Rebellion among his children – Amnon raped his half-sister. Tamar – 2 Samuel 13.

ii. Absalom killed him (Amnon, his brother).

iii. Absalom rebelled against his father.

iv. David ran away from his rebellious son, Absalom.

v. Absalom raped his father’s concubines.

vi. Adonijah declared himself king of Israel unlawfully.

vii. Solomon killed Adonijah, his brother, fro asking for Abishag, the youngest wife of David for himself.

viii. Ahithophel, the wise counselor/adviser of King David betrayed him and joined alliance with Absalom.

ix. David mourned the death of his children… etc

Don’t ever underrate the power of sin and its consequences. It always leaves a man ruined and sometimes unrecovered. Only Jesus Christ has the power to deliver and save mankind from all kinds of addiction and possession of sin and its deadly consequences. Since no one knows the actual day and time that Jesus will return, we must therefore never postpone the day of our salvation and deliverance from sins and what we call human weaknesses. Repent before it destroys all you have worked for or gathered in your entire lifetime in your very eyes.

ACTION POINT: Be born again to be "more than conquerors"

THE OTHER SIDE OF DAVID

WEDNESDAY, 22ND JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE OTHER SIDE OF DAVID

MEMORIZE: “Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house.” – 2 Samuel 11:4.

SCRIPTURE READING:

“Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, "I am with child…" 2 Samuel 11:2-5.

EXPOSITION:

David, from his childhood, was known to be a favourite child of God, someone who loved God deadly and feared him. He knew how to make God happy through inspirational songs of praise and worship. When king Saul disappointed God and was rejected by God from being king over Israel, God told Samuel not to mourn for Saul because He has found for Himself a man after His heart - David. The Spirit of God came upon him and began to do valiantly in the camp of Israel. He became famous in the strength of God and was made the king of Israel after the death of king Saul.

But David had the other side of him that he did not take care of – it was his appetite for women. When he was in the wilderness, he came in contact with the servants of Nabal, the husband of beautiful and respectful Abigail, who acted so foolishly for not taking care of David and his men who were kind to him. When he thought of revenge, Abigail intercepted, pacified him and met their needs. Ten days later, God killed him (Nabal). “Then it came about, after about ten days, that the LORD struck Nabal, and he died. So when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Blessed be the LORD, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept His servant from evil! For the LORD has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head." And David sent and proposed to Abigail, to take her as his wife.” 1 Samuel 25:38:39. The question is: when did David become the next of kin to Nabal, that he was the one to marry the widow? We thought it was normal until we read that in Hebron He has six sons from six wives and later he increases wives and concubines - 1 Chronicles 3:1-9. He multiplied wives which eventually became multiplied trouble unto him.

Examine yourself today, what is that weakness you are nurturing in your life, it is capable of destroying your testimony before God and men. Cry to God today to help you conquer it before it conquers you.

PRAYER POINT:

i. O Lord, my God, help me to conquer my weakness today, so as to be perfect instrument in your hand in Jesus name.

ii. O Lord, my God, I refused to be destroyed by my weakness in Jesus name.

iii. O Lord, my God, I preserve my testimony in you by the blood of Jesus Christ in Jesus name.

A LARGE DWELLING PLACE

TUESDAY, 21TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: A LARGE DWELLING PLACE

MEMORIZE: "Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof" - (Joshua 15:47).

SCRIPTURE READING: Joshua 15:21-47.

EXPOSITION:

God owns much more than any human could imagine. The earth is His and its fullness. There can be no restraint to His bestowals from any quarter or power, either in heaven or on earth or underneath the earth. The description of the territory to be occupied by Judah as captured in the Bible passage today shows an expansive land. This land covers the Southern part of Edom through the wilderness of Zin, including all the cities of Ashdod and Gaza unto the river of Egypt (the Red Sea) and the Great Sea that washes the coast of most cities of the Philistines. The Scriptural phrase, "...For as the man is, so is his strength..." (Judges 8:21) plays out in the case of the tribe of Judah. This tribe had seasoned warlords like Caleb and his nephew Othniel, and other Kenezites. As such, God apportioned them land that must be secured through armed struggle.

God knows who we are and what will satisfy us. Therefore, in life battles, we must quit seeing ourselves as mere men and bear in mind that nothing worthwhile comes easy. Our responsibility then is to maintain a mindset like Caleb and other members of the tribe of Judah to subdue the heathen and possess our possession. This is in line with God's word that we shall possess "the uttermost part of the earth" (Psalm 2:8). Beyond earthly possessions, we have a great city to possess - a Kingdom not built with human hands; a city inhabited by the Triune God. We must give our best to enter heaven so as to enjoy the eternal rest and bliss this glorious City affords. God's promised blessings are great and expansive. Go for them!

THE COMFORTS OF SUFFERING SAINTS LAID DOWN

MONDAY, 20TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE COMFORTS OF SUFFERING SAINTS LAID DOWN

MEMORIZE:"“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:"1 Peter 4:12.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Peter 4:12-14.

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.”

EXPOSITION:

(1) They are blessed for they now, in their life-time, receive their evil things (Luke 16:25), and receive them upon a good account. They are blessed for it is an honour to them (Acts 5:41) it is an opportunity of glorifying Christ, of doing good, and of experiencing special comforts and visits of grace and tokens of his presence, Dan 3:25; Rom 8:29.

(2) They shall be recompensed; Theirs is the kingdom of heaven. They have at present a sure title to it, and sweet foretastes of it and shall ere long be in possession of it. Though there be nothing in those sufferings than can, in strictness, merit of God (for the sins of the best deserve the worst), yet this is here promised as a reward (Matthew 5:12) Great is your reward in heaven: so great, as far to transcend the service. It is in heaven, future, and out of sight but well secured, out of the reach of chance, fraud, and violence. Note, God will provide that those who lose for him, though it be life itself, shall not lose by him in the end. Heaven, at last, will be an abundant recompence for all the difficulties we meet with in our way. This is that which has borne up the suffering saints in all ages--this joy set before them

(3) "So persecuted they the prophets that were before you, Matthew 5:12. They were before you in excellency, above what you are yet arrived at they were before you in time, that they might be examples to you of suffering affliction and of patience, James 5:10. They were in like manner persecuted and abused and can you expect to go to heaven in a way by yourself? Was not Isaiah mocked for his line upon line? Elisha for his bald head? Were not all the prophets thus treated? Therefore marvel not at it as a strange thing, murmur not at it as a hard thing it is a comfort to see the way of suffering a beaten road, and an honour to follow such leaders. That grace which was sufficient for them, to carry them through their sufferings, shall not be deficient to you. Those who are your enemies are the seed and successors of them who of old mocked the messengers of the Lord," chapter23:31 Acts 7:52.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, make me fruitful in my walk with you even in the face of persecution and opposition in Jesus name.

THE VALUE OF FATHER

SUNDAY, 19TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE VALUE OF FATHER

(CELEBRATING 2022 WORLD’S FATHERS’ DAY)

MEMORIZE: “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion… " Genesis 1:26

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 1:26-28

“Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

EXPOSITION:

Man was created to represent Him on earth in overseeing the rest creatures. He was commissioned to watch over, to dominate and to procreate until he replenishes the earth. He is the father by the virtue of his procreation. He was the first to take care of his seed. Out of the man, the woman was brought out. She is not another created being, not another human being, but a woman – a man with womb, for the purpose of procreation. She is the incubator of future generation – destiny children. But the man is the donor. What he donates is what the woman processed, incubated and give birth to at the appointed time of God.

Therefore, as a man, your responsibilities includes:

1. AS HUSBAND, YOU MUST…

i. Give your wife name that you want her to reflect in your life. What you call her is what she will answer in your life. Adam called his wife “Woman” for she is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh… because she is taken out of man – Gen. 2:23.

ii. Leave your father and mother and cleave to your wife and the two shall be one. Gen. 2:24.

iii. Rejoice in your wife – Prov. 5:18.

iv. Live joyfully with your wife – Eccl. 9:9.

v. Love your wife = Eph. 5:25.

vi. Dwell with your wife according to knowledge – 1 Peter 3:7.

vii. Give honour unto your wife - – 1 Peter 3:7.

2. AS FATHER, YOU MUST…

i. Teach your children the way and fear of God – Deut 6:7, 20.

ii. Train your children in godliness – Prov. 22:6

iii. Provide for your family – 2 Cor. 12:14.

iv. To nurture your wife and children in the word of God – Eph. 6:4.

v. To control your household – 1 Tim. 3:4.

vi. To love your wife as yourself and your children as Christ loves the Church – Titus 2:4; Eph. 5:25.

Be a good, responsible and fulfilling father that makes God happy and proud as we are celebrating WORLD’S FATHERS’ DAY, 2022 today. Remain blessed always in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, make me a fulfilled man on earth according to your divine purpose for my life in Jesus name.

Lord, help all fathers to be a productive and fulfilling father from today in Jesus name.

YOUR PRIVATE LIFE

SATURDAY, 18TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: YOUR PRIVATE LIFE

MEMORIZE: “…lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11.

SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 16:1-21.

EXPOSITION:

In the journey of life, man’s life is of two faces – private life and public life. Everyone tries to be good and godly in the public but are likely and possible to be read devil and demonic in the private. Public life is like a life in the day light while private life is liken to the life in the dark (night). But I want to assure you that God delights and has full interest in our private life, which is our heart, than our public life. Bro. Samson was tearing the mouth of lion outside but there is Delilah eating up his life from inside. He is pulling off giant gate outside, but there is a big erosion eating up the pillar of his destiny from inside. Some ministers only roar like lion on the pulpit, but at home there is no prayer alter even with their family, some church workers are only active in the church, but at home things about God are very strange, some wives can greet other people's husband with their knee going down, but never do that to their husband. Some husbands appreciate other people's wives, but never knew the value of their own wife. Some like to preach to others, but never like to be preached to, many are going about preaching salvation message, yet, they are not saved. Let’s conquer the devil from inside to outside, that will be a genuine victory.

It was in the secret that integrity of Reuben was tested but he failed. Though he remained in his father’s house, yet his destiny has been kept in bondage. At the time he supposed to be blessed and declared the head over his brothers, he received a curse “Thou shall not excel”. The integrity of Joseph was likewise tested in the secret (in the inner room of Portiphar), but he regarded it as great wickedness and sin against God. He thereby ran away from it. Though he was punished for sin not committed, but he later became king and the head over his brothers. Always remember, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, build me from inside to outside. Build your life of integrity in me to be manifested both in my private and public life in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, help me see sin as great wickedness and to run away from it in order to please you in Jesus name.

THE COMPASSIONATE GOD

FRIDAY, 15TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE COMPASSIONATE GOD

MEMORIZE: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9.

SCRIPTURE READING: Jonah 4:9-11.

“Then God said to Jonah, "Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?" And he said, "It is right for me to be angry, even to death!" But the LORD said, "You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night."And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left-and much livestock?"

EXPOSITION:

Nineveh was known to be very wicked and sinful to the extent prophet Jonah would not want to preach repentance to them but rather wished they perish, though this is against the ethics of his profession. But what God saw was different from what his prophet saw – God saw readiness of the people to repent and turn from their wickedness but the prophet saw more wickedness in them and possibility of God not punishing their wickedness because He is compassionate God.

At the end, the Ninevites repented and God had mercy on them and forgave them. No sinner that God cannot forgive once there is genuine repentance. God is compassionate and ready to forgive even the worst of men. But you can only access this precious compassion of God through your genuine repentance from your sins and never to return into it again. God is indeed the compassionate God.

As it is written "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9. The price of our redemption that Jesus paid in full is for all. God has no pleasure in the death of sinners but waits patiently to see them repent and return to Him. If you are the one God is speaking to today, repent sincerely of your sins and return wholly unto God and He will have compassion on you. Today is the day of salvation for as many that are not sure of their names written in the book of life. Seek God now while He may be found, tomorrow may be too late.

PRAYER POINT:

Pray for the salvation of as many who are yet to give their lives to the Lord so that the death and the compassion of the Lord will not be wasted in Jesus name.

THE EVIL OF BEING A SIMPLE (FOOL)

WEDNESDAY, 15TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE EVIL OF BEING A SIMPLE (FOOL)

MEMORIZE:  "How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?" Proverbs 1:22

SCRIPTURE READING:Proverbs 7:1-27 (NKJV)

¹ My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. ² Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. ³ Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart. ⁴ Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," And call understanding your nearest kin, ⁵ That they may keep you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words. ⁶ For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, ⁷ And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding, ⁸ Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house … ²¹ With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. ²² Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, ²³ Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life. ²⁴ Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; ²⁶ For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men.²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death."

EXPOSITION:

There are two types of people existing together

1. The strong: They are the people who can stand on their feet without fear or shame, without being controlled by others.

2. The simple. They are weak and too flexible. They are easily influenced, controlled or manipulated by others.

The simple are instruments in the hands of the strong to fulfill or retain their strength.

The young man in our Scripture reading was called simple because he could not resist sin and the enticement of an harlot. He followed her into immorality till the darts of death struck him suddenly and was unable to recover from it.

God is warning everyone who found pleasure in committing sin to act wisely by desiring from it. Ability to say to sin makes you a strong person. The results of foolishness is very disastrous and deadly.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES REVEALING THE EVIL OF SIMPLE

"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." Psalms 119:130

"To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion." Proverbs 1:4

"How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?" Proverbs 1:22

"Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him," Proverbs 9:4

"A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing." Proverbs 9:13

THE IMPLICATIONS: OF BEING SIMPLE

I. The simple easily falls into the trap of misfortune and evil because of their simplicity.

Ii. They are unable to discern between good and evil because they are being controlled by others.

iii. They labour only to benefits the strong.

iv. The simple is easily entrapped by sin and its lust because he can't resist it

v. He is often called and regarded as fool because when he knows that something is deadly, or having deadly consequences, he will forge ahead until he falls into evil.

vi. He is liking to a baby who does not has his own decision.

vii. God admonished us to leave the stage of being simple to being wise and strong.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, transform me from the state of being simple (a fool) to wise by your wisdom in Jesus name.

A GREAT DOOR FOR EFFECTIVE WORK

WEDNESDAY, 15TH JUNE, 2022

A GREAT DOOR FOR EFFECTIVE WORK

MEMORIZE: "But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me." 1 Corinthians 16:8-9 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING 1 Corinthians 16:6-9 (NKJV)

"And it may be that I will remain, or even spend the winter with you, that you may send me on my journey, wherever I go. For I do not wish to see you now on the way; but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits. But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries."

EXPOSITION:

As Paul concluded this letter to the Corinthian church, he added a bit about his upcoming plans. He was planning on staying in Ephesus until Pentecost, and then would be going to Jerusalem. On the way he hoped to pass through a number of places, including Corinth, collecting an offering for the church in Jerusalem. But he gave two reasons for saying in Ephesus a bit longer. And they seem, on the surface at least, to be contrary reasons. On the one hand, a great door for effective work had been opened to him. We can easily get on board with this one. I want to hang around where the Lord's hand is obviously at work. And especially if I am able to have an active part in it.

THERE WERE MANY WHO OPPOSED HIM

His second reason is a bit more challenging. He planned on staying because there were many who opposed him. That would seem to go along with his earlier comment in 1 Corinthians 15:32 that he had fought wild beasts in Ephesus. And with Luke's mention of the riot caused by his work in Ephesus (Acts 19:23-41). Why would Paul want to hang on where he was facing such opposition? I can think of a couple of reasons. First is that he considered suffering for the sake of Jesus to be a blessing (Phil. 1:29). And, secondly, that opposition was really a sign that the work he was doing was being effective. It was precisely because of the effectiveness of the Lord's work in Ephesus that he was facing so much opposition.

Paul's model here is a good one for us. Do not be discouraged if, as you do the Lord's work, you face opposition from the world. We should expect it. Count it as a blessing. And as a sign that God is indeed at work there. Look for that great door for effective work that God has opened to you and march through it. Doing exploits for God makes Him happy, most especially when you do it acceptably to Him.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, Silent every adversary standing in opposition against your purpose for my Life and my family in Jesus name.

ONE WITH GOD IS MORE THAN CONQUERORS

TUESDAY, 14TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: ONE WITH GOD IS MORE THAN CONQUERORS

MEMORIZE: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

SCRIPTURE READING: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”  1 John 4:4-6.

EXPOSITION:

A conqueror is a person who engaged in warfare and won. What qualifies a man for winning in the battle of life includes boldness to confront the enemy, effective strategy, knowing the hide out of your enemies, knowing how and when to strike the enemies. Having all these information intact with you gives you special confidence for victory. All these are found in satan and his hosts.

This world is a battle ground where the devil and his cohorts rage like an angry roaring lion seeking for prey to devour. Confronting them with our human strength cannot guarantee victory because he (the devil) and his agents are cunning in their plans than their opponents. It is written, “for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” Luke 16:8. Who can now decode and defeat the wisdom of this world that is so deadly? Hallelujah!!! Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, has fought and won for us all. It is written, “These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” Revelation 17:13-14. Therefore, anyone in alliance with God is a conqueror. We are in the world, but not of the world. We have overcome the world, the devil and the wicked… we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us – Romans 8:37.

When the likes of David, Jehoshaphat, Hezekiah, etc were in alliance with God, they were besieged by the kings stronger than them, but they overcame their enemies with little or no efforts, as God took over their fight and gave them victory instead. This God does not change. He will surely give you victory over your mighty enemies. Fear not but be courageous, for one with God is more than conquerors. Hallelujah!!!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I release myself unto you and release all my enemies into your hands, handle them in your own way and give me victory over them in Jesus name.

TO ALL WHO BELIEVED IN HIS NAME

MONDAY, 13TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: TO ALL WHO BELIEVED IN HIS NAME

MEMORIZE: "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING: John 1:10-12 (NKJV)

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. ¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. ¹² But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."

EXPOSITION:

The prologue to John's gospel is pretty intense. It starts by identifying the Word as being with God. And then, that the Word was God. That the Word had life in himself. And that life was the light of humanity. He then went on to say that the Word came into the world to give that light to everyone. That the Word, the Son, took on human form and lived for a while among us. And we know the Word made flesh as Jesus.

BELIEVE IN HIS NAME

Jesus came to bring light into the world. Some accepted the light he brought, while others did not. John tells us in this verse that all who received Jesus and the light he brought were given the right to become children of God. If there is any question about what it means to receive Jesus, John explains that it means to believe in his name. To believe in who he is.

John makes it clear that the light that Jesus brought was for everyone (John 1:9). Some rejected the light he brought. But all who believe in him, or put their faith in him, are given the right to experience rebirth as children of God. The good news is that Jesus has come into the world to bring light into the darkness. If you have believed in him, you are a new creature. But, if you have not, I would plead with you to receive the light that he brings. True life can be found only in him.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, open the eyes of every sinner to their salvation in Jesus Christ in Jesus name.

PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE – Part 3

SATURDAY, 11TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE – Part 3.

MEMORIZE:  “I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.” Revelation 2:13.

SCRIPTURE READING:  Matthew 5:10-12.

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

EXPOSITION:

This is the third stage of persecution… Come to think of it… All this persecution is for righteousness' sake (Matthew 5:10) for my sake, Matthew 5:11. If for righteousness' sake, then for Christ's sake, for he is nearly interested in the work of righteousness. Enemies to righteousness are enemies to Christ. This precludes those from the blessedness who suffer justly, and are evil spoken of truly for their real crimes let such be ashamed and confounded, it is part of their punishment it is not the suffering, but the cause, that makes the martyr. Those suffer for righteousness' sake, who suffer because they will not sin against their consciences, and who suffer for doing that which is good. Whatever pretence persecutors have, it is the power of godliness that they have an enmity to it is really Christ and his righteousness that are maligned, hated, and persecuted For thy sake I have borne reproach, Psalms 69:9; Romans 8:36.

When you are persecuted, not for your iniquity, nor for your careless living, you are identified with Christ in his suffering and shall also be rewarded at his appearing. “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Romans 8:17. God knew that you live where the seat of satan is, yet He hath also make way of escape from its torment. “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13. God highly appreciates and rewards our faithfulness to Him, most especially when we remain faithful till the end. Be one of these faithful saints.

He that overcomes, endures till the end without compromising his faith in Christ Jesus shall not have part in the second death.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Revelation 2:11

“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:” Revelation 2:26.

“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5.

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” Revelation 21:7.

“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1John 5:5.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to be faithful to you till the end, even if persecution and hatred come my way for your sake in Jesus name.

WE HAVE HEARD FOR OURSELVES

SUNDAY, 12TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: WE HAVE HEARD FOR OURSELVES

MEMORIZE: John 4:42

They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” John 4:42 NIV

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:16-30 (NKJV)

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." ¹⁷ The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,' ¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly." ¹⁹ The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. ²⁰ Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship." ²¹ Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. ²² You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. ²⁵ The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things." ²⁶ Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He."... ²⁸ The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, ²⁹ "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" ³⁰ Then they went out of the city and came to Him."

EXPOSITION :

After Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, she returned to town and told everyone she met about Jesus. She believed that Jesus was the Messiah they had been hoping for. And many of the town's men believed her testimony about Jesus and came out to see him. They urged Jesus to stay with them for a while. So Jesus spent two days in the town teaching them. And many more came to believe that Jesus was the Savior of the world because of what they heard Jesus say.

TO KNOW WITH CERTAINTY

I believe what the men said to the woman in this verse is very important. They had initially believed because of her testimony. But now, they believed because of their own experience. Her witness opened them up to the good news and made them receptive. But when they experienced Jesus for themselves, it became much more personal.

Many people today hear about Jesus. And they respond in a variety of ways. Some reject what they hear, having no interest in the message of Christ. Others hear and intellectually accept what is said, but it does not change their lives. And, finally, some hear the message, allow it to bear fruit in their lives, and encounter the risen Messiah for themselves. And it is these who can know with certainty that Jesus is their Savior.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, open the eyes of My understanding to be able to see you as my personal Savior, apart from the testimony of others in Jesus name.

REVILED FOR CHRIST'S SAKE

FRIDAY, 10TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: REVILED FOR CHRIST'S SAKE

MEMORIZE: "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.“ Matthew 5:11.

SCRIPTURE READING:  Matthew 5:11-12.

"“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

EXPOSITION:

This is stage two of the persecution for righteousness’ sake. The persecuted believers were reviled, and have all manner of evil said against them falsely. Nicknames, and names of reproach, are fastened upon them, upon particular persons, and upon the generation of the righteous in the gross, to render them odious sometimes to make them formidable, that they may be powerfully assailed things are laid to their charge that they knew not, Jer 20:18 Acts 27:6,7. Those who have had no power in their hands to do them any other mischief, could yet do this and those who have had power to persecute, had found it necessary to do this too, to justify themselves in their barbarous usage of them they could not have baited them, if they had not dressed them in bear-skins nor have given them the worst of treatment, if they had not first represented them as the worst of men. They will revile you, and persecute you.

Note, Reviling the saints is persecuting them, and will be found so shortly, when hard speeches must be accounted for (Jude 1:15), and cruel mockings, Hebrews 11:36. They will say all manner of evil of you falsely sometimes before the seat of judgment, as witnesses; sometimes in the seat of the scornful, with hypocritical mockers at feasts; they are the song of the drunkards; sometimes to face their faces, as Shimei cursed David; sometimes behind their backs, as the enemies of Jeremiah did. Note, There is no evil so black and horrid, which, at one time or other, has not been said, falsely, of Christ's disciples and followers

Therefore, if you are spoken against or reviled by men for Christ's sake, do not compromise nor retreat from from following Christ. Do not be ashame of the cross of Christ, ur Lord. Stand for/with Him. Count it all joy, for so they did to the saints that were before you. When the men in power denied you promotion or recognitions... When you labour and they give your reward to another person... When you are denied your employment because of your faith in Christ... Know for sure that you are not the only one in it. Many other brethren are also passing through the same. The most important thing is that you are not alone, Christ is with you and will reward you greatly both here and in life beyond in His kingdom. All you need to do is to make sure you don't deny Jesus Christ till you see Him face-to-face at the rapture of the saints. Shalom!!!

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I receive grace never to be ashamed of your crucifixion which was the price for my redemption in Jesus name.

PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE

THURSDAY, 9TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE

MEMORIZE:  “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:12.

EXPOSITION:

Those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, are happy. This is the greatest paradox of all, and peculiar to Christianity and therefore it is put last, and more largely insisted upon than any of the rest. This beatitude, like Pharaoh's dream, is doubled, because hardly credited, and yet the thing is certain and in the latter part there is change of the person, "Blessed are ye - ye my disciples, and immediate followers. This is that which you, who excel in virtue, are more immediately concerned in for you must reckon upon hardships and troubles more than other men" Observe here, The case of suffering saints described and it is a hard case, and a very piteous one…

They are persecuted, hunted, pursued, run down, as noxious beasts are, that are sought for to be destroyed as if a Christian did bear a wolf's head, as an outlaw is said to do--any one that finds him may slay him, they are abandoned as the offscouring of all things fined, imprisoned, banished, stripped of their estates, excluded from all places of profit and trust, scourged, racked, tortured, always delivered to death, and accounted as sheep for the slaughter. This has been the effect of the enmity of the serpent's seed against the holy seed, ever since the time of righteous Abel. It was so in Old-Testament times, as we find, Hebrews 11:35. Christ has told us that it would much more be so with the Christian church, and we are not to think it strange, 1 John 3:13. He has left us an example

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, I receive grace to stand with you in my moments of hard time and bring glory to you in Jesus name.

OUR VICTORY OVER DEATH

WEDNESDAY, 8TH JUNE, 2022

TOPIC:  OUR VICTORY OVER DEATH

MEMORIZE:  “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” 1 Corinthians 15:26.

SCRIPTURE READING: - 1 Corinthians 15:51-57.

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

EXPOSITION:

Death is termination of life’s existence. It stops man’s existence, dreams and aspiration. Its cause is sin. It is written, “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.” Death is fearful and has since become the great enemy and threat to man. It has stopped many destinies and aspiration. In its worst fight, it has separated many generations from God through sin. Sin brought death, for death is the punishment for sin.

There are three types of death that exist:

i. Physical death: This is literal death of the body, returning it back into dust.

ii. Spiritual death: This is separation of soul of man from having cordial relationship with God while still alive physically. It is also referred to as being an unbeliever in God.

iii. Eternal death: This is eternal separation of man from God after his physical death.

This is the simple analysis of death and life: If you are born once through the natural birth, you are shall die three times (Spiritually, physically and eternally); but if you are born twice (physically and spiritually into the family of God through your personal faith in the atoning death of Christ), you shall die only once, which is the physical death. This is victory over death brought to us by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the only solution to the problem of death, be it physical, spiritual and eternal. It is written, - “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14-15. Jesus offered Himself as the only acceptable sacrifice to God to set the mankind free from the bondage, fear and judgment of death. Since the price of our redemption is paid in full by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, physical death is no longer our enemy. It is a gateway to eternal life. We need not to fear it. We also have ultimate victory over both spiritual and eternal death as we give our lives to Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour. Since he has set us free from the power and sting of death, we have no reason to fear death again when it threatens us with its sting. Always remember that our Redeemer liveth. “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:” Job 19:25. Whenever we are faced with torment of death (the physical death), always remember that He has given us victory over death in totality. Because Jesus lives, your victory over death is establish and sure.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, open my eyes of faith to see my victory over death and walk in its reality in my life in Jesus name.

GOD'S ARMS ARE WIDE OPEN

TUESDAY, 7TH JUNE, 2022

TOPIC :  GOD'S ARMS ARE WIDE OPEN

MEMORIZE:  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 15:11-32

11.  And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

EXPOSITION:

If you extend your hand to someone for a handshake, the person would most likely decline if his/her hands are dirty. Naturally, humans avoid staining clean people. However, God does not operate that way. He is willing to give you a hug even when you are dirty. The father of the prodigal son for example, did not ask him to take a bath before he could embrace him. He saw his son from afar and ran to meet him (Luke 15:11-32 ). The woman with the issue of blood had been bleeding for twelve years. She may have been smelly, the doctors might have taken all her earnings and left her wearing rags but she chose to touch Jesus - the One everyone was celebrating. Considering her state, ordinarily, she may not have wanted to come close, but she did! She probably felt too dirty to speak, so she decided to just touch the hem of His garment. She did not stay away totally because she was dirty. She made the move and He did not reject her; He even prayed for her (Luke 8:43-48 ). The countless sins you have committed  stealing, adultery, fornication, or even murder may make you feel dirty. So, you may think God cannot accept you anymore. Listen, He is waiting for you to take just one step towards Him. There is no sin too big for the blood of Jesus to cleanse, neither is there any sinner too guilty for Him to forgive. You might not be able to pray unhindered if you are still feeling dirty. In this case, you have to first pray for forgiveness. All He needs is genuine repentance and He will do the rest.

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you...”  James 4:8. All He requires is that you take a step towards Him and He will do the rest. Even if you have entered into a covenant with the devil and sold your soul to him, God is able to help you. He remains the same; He still sets the lawful captives free (Isaiah 49:24-46 ). His arms are still wide open, come to Him now when He is near (Isaiah 55:6). Don't wait until it would be too late.

KEY POINT:

Spread the good news of Gods unconditional love and if you have sinned, come to Him as you are. His arms are still wide open.

THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

MONDAY, 6TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:1-24

MEMORIZE: "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." - Zechariah 4:6.

EXPOSITION

Failure to walk in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit will result in powerlessness, failure and disappointment. It behoves us therefore as believers to walk in total obedience to Him. When we are totally yielded to the Holy Spirit, we stand to experience a lot of benefits such as the following: wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to know the truth and how to apply it to specific situations (1 Corinthians 12:8). He gives us strength such that even when we are tired, we do not expire or burn out. Many believers are burning out today because they lack the wisdom of the Holy, which the Bible says is profitable to direct (Ecclesiastes 10:10b).

The Holy Spirit helps us not to get discouraged by the challenges that we face as children of God in our daily activities and life generally. When we are aware that it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we move and not by our own power or might, we are able to forge ahead to accomplish any assignment He has for us, no matter how difficult they may be (Zechariah 4:6). We rely on God to see us through rather than try to manipulate or scheme to achieve our goals. So, even when we experience distress, we will not become negatively desperate or cut corners to get things done as children of God.

When we do God's work with the help of the Holy Spirit, and according to His leading, we will be successful and blessed, no matter what is happening around us. However, the fact that we are walking in the Spirit does not mean that life will be easy. But we will continue, knowing that we have a Helper who will never leave us nor forsake us. That is our confidence (Romans 4:21).

PRAYER POINTS:

i.  Lord help me and give me the grace to live in complete obedience to the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

ii. The labour of my hands shall prosper, in the name of Jesus.

REASONS FOR SEEKING GOD

SATURDAY, 4TH JUNE, 2022

Topic: REASONS FOR SEEKING GOD

MEMORIZE: “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul” Deuteronomy 4:29.

SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 4:29-32

“But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;  (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?”

EXPOSITION:

Seeking God is to turn back to the world and its luring baits. To seek God means to say “Yes” to God and “No” to devil and worldliness. It is to seek the right path of the old, which is called the path of righteousness and holiness. The word of God gives us this promise: “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul” Deuteronomy 4:29.

REASONS FOR SEEKING GOD

The following are the reasons for seeking God:

1. To have more knowledge about Him

2. Him alone can deliver us

3. There are confusion everywhere (Isaiah 8:19)

4. Him alone is trustworthy (Isaiah 31:1)

5. God is always good to those who truly seek Him (Lamentation 3:25)

6. To turn His anger away from us (Zeph. 2:3)

7. Seeking God truly attracts His Glorious Presence (Malachi 3:1)

8. To have eternal life (Amos 5:4-8)

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF TRUE SEEKERS

a. Abraham (Gen. 22:9)

b. Moses (Ex. 33:12-22, 29-33)

c. David (Ps. 27:4)

d. Elijah (1Kings 18:41-45)

e. Daniel (Dan. 9:2-4; Dan. 2:17-23)

f. Mary Magdalene and other Mary (Matt. 28:1-7)

g. Zachaeus (Luke 19:1-6)

God cannot be deceived, He knows those who truly seek Him out of a pure heart and those who are deceiving themselves, you cannot hide from Him. (Isaiah 58:1-5)

CONCLUSION: Those who seek God and find Him are those who truly search dip about Him. What are you still doing? (Jer. 29:13-14), What are the things holding you back not to serve your God from a sincere heart, this is just the right time for you to drop them and seek God out of a pure heart because those who did not seek and find God here cannot see Him at rapture. My prayer for you is as you have come to seek Him here today you will see Him in Jesus name. Remain blessed.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to obey You willingly and with the whole of my heart and walk in your way in Jesus name.

TRUE SEEKERS: GOD’S DESIRE

FRIDAY, 3RD JUNE, 2022

Topic: TRUE SEEKERS: GOD’S DESIRE

MEMORIZE: “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6

SCRIPTURE READING: John 4:23-25

“"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things.”

EXPOSITION:

A seeker is a person who is trying to find or get things mention. The word desire is defined as to express a wish for, to entreat or to request. True Seekers are the people who truly seek the face of God and find Him. And these are the types of seekers that God desires to have in His Vine Yard. There are many types of seekers we have in the house of God namely:

1) The Unserious Seekers

2) The Lazy Seekers

3) The Unstable Seekers

4) Faithless Seekers

5) Unfocused Seekers;

6) Visionless Seekers

7) The true seekers.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A TRUE SEEKER

There are some qualities in man/woman that make him/her the true seeker, they include:

1. They seek God diligently

2. They are always patient in seeking God

3. True seekers can let go anything for the sake of God.

4. They seek God out of a pure and contrite heart

5. They deny themselves of the worldly pleasures.

6. True seekers are always committed to the things of God.

7. The true seekers put God first in everything in their lives.

8. There are heavenly focus, heaven is their target

9. The true seeker serve God unconditionally.

For any man to seek God and receive a desired result, such must possess all these characteristics or qualities.

According to the scriptures, God is not far away, He does not travel and He does not sleep, yet many seek Him and never see Him. What could be the problems? The answer is very simple. Sin such as Pride, (Hosea 7: 10), Prostitution, Unfaithfulness, Lie, Disobedient and so on (Hosea 5:3-7).

PRAYER POINT:

I desire you more than anything in this world, help me to be a true seeker indeed in Jesus name.

THE REVISIT OF GOD’S GRACE

THURSDAY, 2ND JUNE, 2022

Topic: THE REVISIT OF GOD’S GRACE

MEMORIZE: “However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaven.” Judges 16:22.

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 9:15-16.

“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”

EXPOSITION:

Our God is God of grace. If God should mark iniquity, who shall stand blameless before Him? But through mercy, he bestows His grace upon the unqualified and make them worthy and qualified. Through grace, those who have misused their opportunities, like the prodigal son, are welcome back and restored.

Though Samson had wasted his opportunity and grace, which paved way to the enemies to capture him and removed his eyes, yet the grace of God revisited him. The Bible says, “However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaven.” Judges 16:22. If the Philistine had the understanding that the growth of his hair is the revisit of God’s grace in his life, they would have never allow it to grow. But God is God of grace, also called, God of second chance.

When king Saul messed up with God’s grace upon his life in the matter of sacrifice, God gave him another chance but he never knew. God sent him to go and utterly destroy Amalek, but he once again wasted it. He was rejected from being established as God’s ordained king of Israel. Have you discovered that God has given you another chance that makes you stand fit in the ministry? How are you using it? Samson was able to pray and God answered him because he was given second chance. But more that waiting for the second chance, it is better not to waste your golden opportunity. Though second chance came unto Samson, but the damage enemies had done in his life made him to request to die with his enemies. May you not die with your enemies in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me not to be a waster of your grace in Jesus name. And where I have misused your grace, give me a second chance and guide me never to misuse it again in Jesus name.
