Topic: PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE – Part 3.
MEMORIZE: “I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.” Revelation 2:13.
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 5:10-12.
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
EXPOSITION:
This is the third stage of persecution… Come to think of it… All this persecution is for righteousness' sake (Matthew 5:10) for my sake, Matthew 5:11. If for righteousness' sake, then for Christ's sake, for he is nearly interested in the work of righteousness. Enemies to righteousness are enemies to Christ. This precludes those from the blessedness who suffer justly, and are evil spoken of truly for their real crimes let such be ashamed and confounded, it is part of their punishment it is not the suffering, but the cause, that makes the martyr. Those suffer for righteousness' sake, who suffer because they will not sin against their consciences, and who suffer for doing that which is good. Whatever pretence persecutors have, it is the power of godliness that they have an enmity to it is really Christ and his righteousness that are maligned, hated, and persecuted For thy sake I have borne reproach, Psalms 69:9; Romans 8:36.
When you are persecuted, not for your iniquity, nor for your careless living, you are identified with Christ in his suffering and shall also be rewarded at his appearing. “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Romans 8:17. God knew that you live where the seat of satan is, yet He hath also make way of escape from its torment. “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13. God highly appreciates and rewards our faithfulness to Him, most especially when we remain faithful till the end. Be one of these faithful saints.
He that overcomes, endures till the end without compromising his faith in Christ Jesus shall not have part in the second death.
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Revelation 2:11
“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:” Revelation 2:26.
“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5.
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” Revelation 21:7.
“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1John 5:5.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to be faithful to you till the end, even if persecution and hatred come my way for your sake in Jesus name.
