FREEDOM FROM SIN

SATURDAY, 1ST OCTOBER, 2022.

Topic: FREEDOM FROM SIN

MEMORIZE: “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”  John 8:36 (NKJV)

SCRIPTURE READING: John 3:16-19.

“16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ¹⁸ He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

EXPOSITION:

SPIRITUAL DEATH

Spiritual death is the state of the natural or unregenerate man as still in his sins. (Eph. 2:1) alienated from the life of God (Eph4:18-19) and destitute of the Spirit. Prolonged beyond the death of the body, spiritual death is a state of eternal separation from God in conscious suffering. This is called "the second death." (Rev. 2:11; Rev. 20:6, 14; Rev. 21:8).

SAVED, SALVATION – Rom. 1:16.

The Hebrew, and Greek, "sōtēria", meaning "safety", "preservation", "healing", and "soundness". Salvation is the great inclusive word of the Gospel, gathering into itself all the redemptive acts and processes: as justification, redemption, grace, propitiation, imputation, forgiveness, sanctification, and glorification.

Salvation is in three tenses:

(1) The believer has been saved from the guilt and penalty of sin (Luke 7:50; 1 Cor. 1:18; 2 Cor. 2:15; Eph. 2:5; Eph. 2:8; 2Tim. 1:9) and is safe.

(2) the believer is being saved from the habit and dominion of sin (Rom. 6:14; Phil. 1:19; Phil. 2:12-13; 2 Thess. 2:13; Rom8:2; Gal. 2:19-20; 2 Cor. 3:18).

(3) The believer is to be saved in the sense of entire conformity to Christ. (Rom. 13:11; Heb. 10:36; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 3:2).

Salvation is by grace through faith, is a free gift, and wholly without works; (Rom. 3:27-28; Rom. 4:1-8; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8).

The divine order is: first, salvation, then, works; (Eph. 2:9-10; Titus 3:5-8).

PRAYER POINT:  LORD, I receive grace and power to maintain my victory over sin and death in Jesus name.

EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS - Part 4

FRIDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS – Part 4

MEMORIZE: “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”  Genesis 3:15.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 3:14-21.

¹⁴ So the Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. ¹⁵ And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." ¹⁶ To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you." ¹⁷ Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. ¹⁸ Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. ¹⁹ In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return." ²⁰ And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. ²¹ Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.”

2. ADAMIC - (Gen. 3:14-21)

The Adamic Covenant conditions the life of fallen man – conditions which must remain till, in the kingdom age, "the creation also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the sons of God" (Rom. 8:21).

The elements of the Adamic Covenant are:

(1) The serpent, Satan's tool, is cursed (Gen. 3:14), and becomes God's illustration in nature of the effects of sin – from the most beautiful and subtle of creatures to a loathsome reptile! The deepest mystery of the atonement is intimated here. Christ, "made sin for us," in bearing our judgment, is typified by the brazen serpent; (Num. 21:5-9; John 3:14; 2Cor. 5:21). Brass speaks of judgment – in the brazen altar, of God's judgment, and in the laver, of self-judgment.

(2) The first promise of a Redeemer (Gen. 3:15). Here begins the "Highway of the Seed," Abel, Seth, Noah (Gen. 6:8-10); Shem (Gen9:26-27); Abraham (Gen. 12:1-4; Isaac (Gen. 17:19-21); Jacob (Gen. 28:10-14); Judah (Gen. 49:10); David (2 Sam. 7:5-17); Immanuel – Christ; (Isa.7:9-14; Matt. 1:1, 20-23; 1 John 3:8; John 12:31.

(3) The changed state of the woman (Gen. 3:16). In three particulars:

(a) Multiplied sorrow in conception;

(b) motherhood linked with sorrow;

(c) the headship of the man (cf. Gen1:26-27). The entrance of sin, which is disorder, makes necessary a headship, and it is vested in man; (1 Tim. 2:11-14; Eph. 5:22-25;1Cor. 11:7-9).

(4) The earth cursed (Gen. 3:17) for man's sake. It is better for fallen man to battle with a reluctant earth than to live without toil.

(5) The inevitable sorrow of life (Gen. 3:17).

(6) The light occupation of Eden (Gen. 2:15) changed to burdensome labour (Gen3:18-19).

7). Physical death (Gen. 3:19; Rom. 5:12-21; Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Both Old and New Testaments centre on Jesus Christ. All covenants are types of Jesus. He is the fulfillment of them all. Celebrate Jesus now and always.

EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS - Part 3

THURSDAY, 29TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS – Part 3

MEMORIZE: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”  Genesis 1:28.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 1:26-28.

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Let us examine these covenants one after the other.

1. EDENIC COVENANT - Be fruitful

The Edenic Covenant, the first of the eight great covenants of Scripture which condition life and salvation, and about which all Scripture crystallizes, has seven elements. The man and woman in Eden were responsible:

(1) To replenish the earth with a new order – man;

(2) To subdue the earth to human uses;

(3) To have dominion over the animal creation;

(4) To eat herbs and fruits;

(5) To till and keep the garden;

(6) To abstain from eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil;

(7) To know that the penalty of sin is death.

Adam failed in all his responsibilities and was rejected. This became the reason why Jesus Christ, the second Adam was sent to redeem mankind from the captivity of sin and death that the first Adam have sold us into.

PRAYER POINT: Give Thanks to Jesus Christ for the work of our salvation.

EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS - Part 2

WEDNESDAY, 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” Matthew 1:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 9:1-4.

“And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.”

THE RELATION OF JESUS CHRIST TO THE EIGHT COVENANT AS FOLLOW:

(1) To the Edenic Covenant, Christ, as the "second Man," the "last Adam" (1Cor. 15:45-47) takes the place over all things which the first Adam lost. (Col. 2:10; Heb. 2:7-8).

(2) He is the "Seed of the woman" of the Adamic Covenant (Gen. 3:15; John 12:31; 1 John 3:8; Gal. 4:4; Rev. 20:10) and fulfilled its conditions of toil (Mark 6:3) and obedience.

(3) As the greatest son of Shem, in Him was fulfilled supremely the promise to Shem in the Noahic Covenant. Gen. 9:1; Col. 2:9.

(4) He is the "Seed to whom the promises were made" in the Abrahamic Covenant; the son of Abraham obedient unto death. (Gen. 22:18; Gal. 3:16; Phil. 2:8).

(5) He lived sinlessly under the Mosaic Covenant and bore for us its curse. (Gal. 3:10-13).

(6) He lived obediently as a Jew in the land under the Palestinian Covenant, and will yet perform it gracious promises. (Deut. 28:1-30; Deut. 28:9).

(7) He is the "Seed," "Heir," and "King" under the Davidic Covenant. (Matt. 1:1; Luke 1:31-33).

(8) His sacrifice is the foundation of the New Covenant. (Matt. 26:28; 1Cor. 11:25).

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Both Old and New Testaments centre on Jesus Christ. All covenants are types of Jesus. He is the fulfillment of them all. Celebrate Jesus now and always.

EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS – Part 1

TUESDAY, 27TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: EIGHT BIBLICAL COVENANTS – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” Col. 2: 10.

SCRIPTURE READING: “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.” 1 Cor. 15:45-47.

EXPOSITION:

The term “Covenant” means God’s dealings with His people in the various dispensations of the world’s history. The Holy Scriptures by their familiar title keep this thought before us as Old Testament and New Testament / Covenant, the writings produced within the Jewiish “Church” being the writings of the Old Covenant, those within the Christian Church, the Scriptures of the New Covenant. The alternative name “Testament” – adopted into our English description through the Latin, as equivalent of the Hebrew “berith” and the Greek “diatheke”, which both mean a solemn disposition, compact or contract – suggests the disposition of property in a last will or testament.

To all the fathers of faith, God established covenant. Through this week, we shall examine these covenant one-by-one. But today, let us look at those Covenants:

(1) The Edenic Covenant - (Gen. 1:26), conditioned the life of man in innocency.

(2) The Adamic Covenant - (Gen. 3:14) conditions the life of fallen man and gives promise of a Redeemer.

(3) The Noahic Covenant - (Gen. 9:1) establishes the principle of human government.

(4) The Abrahamic Covenant - (Gen. 15:18) founds the nation of Israel, and confirms, with specific additions, the Adamic promise of redemption.

(5) The Mosaic Covenant - (Exod. 19:25) condemns all men, "for that all have sinned."

(6) The Palestinian Covenant - (Deut. 30:3) secures the final restoration and conversion of Israel.

(7) The Davidic Covenant - (2 Sam. 7:16) establishes the perpetuity of the Davidic family (fulfilled in Christ), (Matt. 1:1; Luke 1:31-33; Rom. 1:3) and of the Davidic kingdom, over Israel, and over the whole earth; to be fulfilled in and by Christ. (2 Sam 7:8-17; Zech. 12:8; Luke 1:31-33; Acts 15:14-17; 1Cor. 15:24).

(8) The New Covenant rests upon the sacrifice of Christ, and secures the eternal blessedness, under the Abrahamic Covenant (Gal. 3:13-29) of all who believe. It is absolutely unconditional, and, since no responsibility is by it committed to man, it is final and irreversible.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Jesus Christ is all in all, the power that sustains the world till today. Praise Him now and always.

YOU ARE CREATED IN GOD'S IMAGE

MONDAY, 26TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: YOU ARE CREATED IN GOD’S IMAGE

EXPOSITION OF GENESIS 1:26-28

MEMORIZE: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen. 1:26.

Genesis 1:26-27 gives the general detail of man’s creation and purpose, while Gen 2:7, 21-23 gives the particular account of the creation of man. The revealed facts are:

(1) Man was created not evolved.

(a) This is expressly declared, and the declaration is confirmed by Christ in Matt. 19:14; Mark 10:6;

(b) "an enormous gulf, a divergence practically infinite"  between the lowest man and the highest beast, confirms it;

(c) The highest beast has no trace of God-consciousness – the religious nature;

(d) Science and discovery have done nothing to bridge that "gulf."

(2) That man was made in the "image and likeness" of God. This image is found chiefly in man's tri-unity, and in his moral nature. Man is "spirit and soul and body" as written in 1Thess. 5:23, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

"Spirit" is that part of man which "knows" (1 Cor. 2:11) and which allies him to the spiritual creation and gives him God-consciousness. "Soul" in itself implies self-consciousness life, as distinguished from plants, which have unconscious life. In that sense animals also have "soul" (Gen. 1:24).  But the "soul" of man has a vaster content than "soul" as applied to beast life. It is the seat of emotions, desires, affections (Psalm 42:1-6). The "heart" is, in Scripture usage, nearly synonymous with "soul." Because the natural man is, characteristically, the soulual or physical man, "soul" is often used as synonymous with the individual, for example (Gen. 12:5). The body, separable from spirit and soul, and susceptible to death, is nevertheless an integral part of man, as the resurrection shows; (John 5:28-29; 1Cor. 15:47-50; Rev. 20:11-13). It is the seat of the senses (the means by which the spirit and soul have world-consciousness) and of the fallen Adamic nature. (Rom. 7:23-24).

NO GREATER SIGN - Part 2

SUNDAY, 25TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: NO GREATER SIGN – Part 2

MEMORIZE: “The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.” Luke 11: 32.

SCRIPTURE READING: “And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.” Luke 11:29-30.

EXPOSITION:

THE AGE OF SKEPTICISM: An evil generation

A skeptic concerning the truth of the word of God is an evil person.

WHY DID JESUS CALLED THAT GENERATION AN EVIL GENERATION?

The Jews were fully aware of the miraculous virgin birth. They could see the unprecedented miracles of Christ. They listened to His teachings and said "never man spake like this man". He lived a blameless life that they testified, "He had done all things well". They saw miracles which were unprecedented in history. John the Baptist testified that He was the Messiah. Did they have any reason for still asking for signs? Even when Jesus rose up from the grave, did they belief despite the empty tomb? Were they not evil? John 8:46, 15:24. God has given enough signs to every sinner to belief and come to Christ. It may be through dreams, nature, preachers, the Bible etc. No unrepentant skeptic person has an excuse. Luke 11:29,30.

QUESTION: WHAT OTHER LESSONS CAN YOU LEARN FROM THIS?

In the Judgement  "day", the saints will judge and condemn the sinners before final divine proclamation. Why? So " that every mouth will be stopped" and no excuse will be valid. “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” I Corinthians 6:2. “The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.” Luke 11:31,32.

It is either your "eye" is single, with heavenly focus, or you are evil – “The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.” v34.  You can loose this single eye if you are not watchful and careful. – “If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.” v36.

Our duty as believers is to let our light shine to both the skeptics and the believers – “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.” v33.

PRAYER POINT: i. Ask God to give you a tender and believing heart.

ii. Ask for a single purpose and determination to live for God alone and not to please man.

iii. Pray for any skeptic you know that God will remove every blindness on his heart.

iv. Pray saints will be more zealous for God and soul winning during this period.

NO GREATER SIGN

SATURDAY, 24TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: NO GREATER SIGN

MEMORIZE: "And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet" (LUKE 11:29).

SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 11:29-36.

“And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.”

EXPOSITION:

We live in an age where believing is subject to seeing. Except people are able to lay hold to a tangible evidence, it is difficult to accept and believe a truth. This strong drive for signs is what has given rise to many false signs and miracle workers in many assemblies today. People look at these and become so captivated that they do not bother to look at the source of such miracles, the lives of the miracle workers and the doctrines they teach.

The Jews in Jesus' day were signs seekers too. In our passage today, Jesus was clear in His response to their obvious demand for a sign for Him to prove He was the Messiah. He told them He was not going to give any other sign other than the one provided in the Scriptures about the story of Jonah. Jonah's miraculous deliverance from the fish's belly after three days was both a symbolic and prophetic pointer to Jesus' resurrection from the grave after three days.

Today, the empty tomb of Christ, which is the infallible proof of His resurrection, remains one indisputable sign that shows that He is the Saviour of the world. The world has had several signs and miracle workers today who claim to be great prophets, saviours and gods but whose graves are all around us. However, only One person - Jesus Christ - is the Saviour of the world.

As we evangelise, let our emphasis be on Jesus, the risen Lord. While working miracles, signs and wonders are good, they can be counterfeited. But there is no counterfeit to the fact of Christ's resurrection. And faith in Him is the basis for every other miracle the world can ever desire.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: His empty tomb is the sign the world needs!

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help us to remain in you firm and uncompromising and be able to present you well in our lives and messages in Jesus name.

HYMNOLOGY - BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS

FRIDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER, 2022.

HYMNOLOGY  -  BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS

Author: John Fawcett

MEMORIZE: “He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” 1 John 2:10

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 John 2:7-11

“Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.”

EXPOSITION:

Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. The first thing that struck me about the life of John Fawcett was his devotion to the people he was called to minister to. He is cited as a spiritual leader who sacrificed ambition and personal gain for Christian devotion.

His parents were poor and from Yorkshire in England. He was born in 1740 and converted to Christ at the age of sixteen, ten years later he was ordained as a Baptist minister. His first parish was a small one with mostly poor congregants. After spending several years there with a meager salary he got the call to go to a big affluent parish in London.

Come the day of him and his wife's departure, as his saddened parishioners gathered around his wagon to bid them farewell, his wife, Mrs. Fawcett broke down and said. "John, I cannot bear to leave, I know not how to go" to which he replied "Neither can I"

He continued his faithful ministry to the humble people of Wainsgate for more than fifty years. During this time he remained on a small salary of not more than 200 dollars A YEAR. During this time he wrote the words to this hymn under the title "Brotherly love"

He gained a reputation as an excellent teacher and was conferred with a Doctorate in Divinity by Browns University in the United States in 1811, wrote several books and started a seminary. During his ministry he received several other offers to minister in bigger towns but stayed faithful to his congregation until his death in 1817 as a result of a paralytic stroke.

John Fawcett remains an inspiration and example of selfless ministry, a quality that we dearly need in the church today.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, give me a true love for my brother and sister in Christ. Amen.

GOD NEVER COMES TOO LATE - Part 2

THURSDAY, 22ND SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: GOD NEVER COMES TOO LATE – Part 2

MEMORIZE: "And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not." Luke 7:13.

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 7:11-15

“11. And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.”

EXPOSITION:

The medical practitioners admit that they only care, but God cures. Whenever someone dies, medically, it is over. The dead is good for nothing than to be buried. A widow from Nain lost her only son to untimely death. She has lost all her hope and the mourners have started mourning for her, sympathizing her irreparable lost. But on their way to cemetery, Jesus met them. But they didn’t know him, unlike Bartimeaus the blind, who heard him passing and cried for his mercy. Notwithstanding, Jesus had compassion on her, stepped into her case and restored the dead boy back to life and handed him alive to his mother. While others thought it was over, Jesus stepped in. He never comes too late into any situation.

What are you passing through now that you think God is too late to come? It is written concerning you… “Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. 16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. 17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.” Isaiah 60:15-20. Keep trust God and hope in Him. At His right time, He will turn your situation around for good. It is ypur turn to shine bright with your testimonies in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT: Pray and Claim the promises written in Isaiah 60:15-20 quoted above.

GOD NEVER COMES TOO LATE - Part 1

WEDNESDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: GOD NEVER COMES TOO LATE – Part 1

MEMORIZE: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: Esther 6: 1-11.

“1 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. 2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus. 3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him. 4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5 And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in. 6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself? 7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, 8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head: 9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour. 10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken. 11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.”

EXPOSITION:

There are times when we view God’s intervention as coming too late. At that time, we hold God responsible for our misfortunes and inability to live our dreamed life. Martha told Jesus concerning the death of her dear brother, Lazarus: “Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:21. Today, we say the same, such as, God, if you had answered my prayers, I would not have become a prostitute / armed rubber… If God had been good to me, he should have given me children… If truly God answer prayers, He should have given me my dreamed spouse… If God loves, my child/loved ones would not have died, etc.

Mordecai have done good for the king in protecting him from sudden death. But he was not rewarded immediately. He remained a gateman despite his being good. Nevertheless, God did not forget him. At his appointed time, God caused the king to remember him and it was timely. This lead to his promotion from a gateman to the second in command in the kingdom.

God has never been too late in His intervention. IF he delayed in your own eyes, as Martha thought, yet He will prove it that His time has ever been the best. He raised Lazarus back to life because He is the resurrection and life. Our Memory Scripture reads "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1. He is the right help you ever need. Trust his timing and you will surely glorify God at last. Trust Him with your needs, He cares for you.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I trust you with my burden. I confess your timely intervention over my life situation.

(If you have any threatening case in your life right now, commit it to the Lord now and you will laugh for joy over it).

A HYPOCRITE? - Part 2

TUESDAY, 20TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: A HYPOCRITE? – Part 2

MEMORIZE: "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." Matthew 15:8.8

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 29: 12-14.

“And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.”

EXPOSITION:

At the outset of his reign, Adolf Hitler was known for his profuse use of Christian vocabulary. He was said to be in the habit of brandishing his tattered Bible and declaring to the people that he drew inspiration and strength from it for the great work he had on hand. He gave out himself as a man zealous of good works and by this captured the attention of pious people as a God-ordained leader. But history later revealed his true self. There has never been a short supply of people who draw near to God with their mouths, but their hearts are far from Him (Matthew 15:8).

The Jews in Babylonian captivity typified this attitude. They displayed much of outward religion but had no heart for God. He revealed to prophet Ezekiel how much they talked about Him. They went through the motions of religious worship, delighted in hearing the sermons of the prophet which served only to entertain them. They heard the Word but did not obey it.

Instead of returning to and being thankful to God, they were filled with presumption, pride and abominable practices. Yet, they were so confident that they were divinely favoured to possess the land, the same way today's hypocrites vainly lay claim to God's promises.

Today, churches are filled with people preoccupied with religious activities but who mock faithful ministers of God and ridicule the eternally settled Word. But you can stand out by making your calling and election sure.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* Don't be double-faced; serve God if you want to!

A HYPOCRITE? THANK Part 1

MONDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: A HYPOCRITE? – Part 1

MEMORIZE: "And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness" (EZEKIEL 33:31).

SCRIPTURE READING: EZEKIEL 33:21-33.

” And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten. Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb. Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance. Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land? Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land? Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence. For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through. Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD. And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.”

EXPOSITION:

An hypocrite is a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold in order to conceal his or her real feelings or motives. An hypocrite is man with a fake life. He is a man with a double life. He is contrary to what he profess to be.

WEIGH YOURSELF ON THE SCALE

1. COVENANT BREAKING AND YET CONFESSING FAITH VV21-25.

a. Abraham got the Canaan land by covenant. Israel habitually broke the covenant and still express mere positive confession to possess and secure the land vv21-25.

b. Positive confession and faith can never substitute for obedience.

2. ABOMINABLE AND ASSERTIVE VV26-29.

a. Israel was defiled with many abominable acts and yet strongly believed that the promise of God to possess the land will come to pass vv26-29.

b. Any faith in the promises of God not backed up with holy living is mere bold face.

3. DEVOTED BUT DECEPTIVE V30.

a. They were gossiping against the prophet and yet consulting him to hear the word of God v30.

b. Making attempts to hear the word of God from a minister you gossip against is hypocrisy.

4. ATTENTIVE BUT ADAMANT VV32-33

a. They had the habit of listening attentively to the word of God but never allowed the word to change their lives vv32-33.

b. Being attentive to the word of God without a corresponding change of life is self deception James 1:22.

The Question is, where do you belong in the four categories above?

PRAYER POINTS: Lord, I repent of all positive confession that is void of obedience to your word.

Mention and confess the abominable acts in your life and ask that the blood of Jesus will cleanse you totally.

Lord, forgive me of all gossips against my spiritual leaders that are feeding me with the word of God.

Purge your church of all hypocrisies and give each member the commitment to doing all we are being taught from the word of God.

HOW READY ARE YOU FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD?

 SUNDAY, 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: HOW READY ARE YOU FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD?

MEMORIZE: " Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." (LUKE 12:40).

SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 12:32-48.

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

EXPOSITION:

HOW READY ARE YOU FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD?

1. THE QUALIFIED

a. Must have a sonship relationship with God or new birth experience v32.

b. Must be heavenly minded putting priority to heavenly investment and reward vv33, 34. Not earthly minded.

c. Must be burning and shining for the Lord v35.

d. Must be in constant expectation and waiting for the Lord's coming v36.

Pray on each of the points above so that you will be truly ready👆

2. THE IMMINENCE

a. Believers waiting for the Lord and neither for the Great Tribulation nor the Antichrist vv36,37,43,46.

b. Nobody knows the time vv 36, 39, 40, 46.

c. It will happen when people least expect v 40. If the Great Tribulation and the coming of Antichrist will precede the Rapture, then, believers will only need to relax and watch for the Antichrist. This is a devilish doctrine.

Pray that you will not be deceived into carelessness through false doctrine🙏

Ask for grace to be in constant watchfulness and readiness🙏

3. THE SURPRISES

a. Some of God's children and servants will descend into carelessness and worldliness at His coming v. 45.

b. These careless children of God will be sentenced to hell where unbelievers and sinners will be v46. No eternal security.

c. Careless or backslidden Christians at the coming of Christ will be condemned to a hotter part of hell compared to those who never repented vv 47, 48.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me and don't permit me to backslide at any time in your mercy🙏

Pray that God will awaken the Church members to the imminence of His coming and ever readiness for His coming🙏.

GET READY FOR CHRIST'S RETURN

SATURDAY, 17TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: GET READY FOR CHRIST'S RETURN

MEMORIZE: "And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocks, they may open unto him immediately" (LUKE 12:36).

SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 12:32-40.

Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

EXPOSITION:

Each time a conversation gets to the direction of the return of Jesus Christ, many people are either dismissive, amused or unconcerned. This is because they think it is unlikely or if it will happen at all, that it would be in the distant future. In the process, they miss the essential lesson of ensuring that the Lord's coming does not meet them unprepared.

Jesus Christ assures His disciples that the Almighty God has reserved a place in heaven for them. Believers should therefore, not misplace their priorities but jettison anything, including love of money, that could hinder their love, obedience and service to the Lord. They must allow their lives to shine brightly, while living in constant expectation of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ so that when He comes, they will be ready. In fact, He would come when most people are not expecting Him.

Great blessings await those He will meet ready at His return. But those who fail to prepare for His coming and are consumed by the rat race, revelry and oppressive activities of the world would suffer eternal separation from Him. Those that are ignorant of His advent will also face punishment; while those that knew but refused to get themselves ready, will get a more severe punishment.

This is a timely warning, especially in our present age when all talk about the return of Jesus Christ seem like fable to many. To be ready, you must not condone even the slightest sin in your life but shun all evil distractions of the world. You must diligently follow the Lord faithfully, engage in the service of winning and preparing souls for heaven and growing daily into the nature and stature of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. How ready are you to meet the Lord?

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to remain qualified and prepared for your coming in Jesus name.

WHEN THE WICKED GOES UNPUNISHED

FRIDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: WHEN THE WICKED GOES UNPUNISHED!

MEMORISE: "Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them" (JOB 24:12).

SCRIPTURE READING: JOB 24:1-13

“Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children. They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked. They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold. They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter. They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor. They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.”

EXPOSITION:

There are many things about God and His dealings that we seem not to understand. One of such is the spate of wickedness and atrocities being perpetrated by wicked people, and judgment does not seem to quickly catch up with them. Evils and crimes are committed in many places with impunity. The rights and privileges of the less privileged are forcefully trodden with no one to speak for them. And God seems to be silent!

Many people wonder why God delays judgment on the wicked. They want Him to unleash His wrath as they observe all the wickedness going on in the world. This was the same question Job raised in our passage as he tried to show his friends that God was not punishing him for his sins as they thought.

He pointed their attention to all the wickedness going on daily around them which they were quite aware of, and yet God seems to be silent about them. If God was punishing him for his sins, why then were all the wicked and terrible people around him in the society walking about free and judgment is not coming upon them, he queried.

Many people have been tempted to think that God is not fair. In fact, there are people who have concluded that it is either that God does not exist or that He has abandoned the world to self-destruction. But the truth is, God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He has set a time for everything and a day of judgment for every wicked person.

Our attitude then is to have faith in His righteousness and justice. We cannot have a sense of justice more than the Almighty God. Let us leave the judgment of the wicked in His Hands and strive to maintain an upright life. He will certainly judge the wicked and reward the upright with good.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God's sense of justice will not overlook wickedness.

FAINTING AT THE BATTLE?

Thursday, 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: FAINTING AT THE BATTLE?

MEMORISE: “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Samuel 21:15-17.

“Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint. And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.”

EXPOSITION:

To faint, by definition, is to lack strength or vigor. It is to be weak and likely to lose consciousness. It is lacking conviction or boldness or courage. There are times in the journey of life that we grow wearied and fainted. At this time, we see things in human perspectives and no longer with God’s eyes. Fainting at the war front is a sure path to death. David was a victim; he grew fainted in the battle against a philistine giant. He almost lost the battle if not for timely intervention of Abishai, one of his mighty men. He started strong with the killing of Goliath. His fame was noised even in the camp of his enemies. But in the cause of time, he grew wearied and fainted. But It is written, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10.

Let us learn from the courage of Hannah in her days of sorrow. When others have given up on her possibility of being fruitful, she never lose hope. Despite being mocked by her rival, she grows strong in her communion with God. Don’t be fainted in the day of evil. With God, all things are possible. It is written, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, be my strength in the day of evil and guard me against weariness In Jesus' Name.

CHOICE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

WEDNESDAY, 14TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: CHOICE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

MEMORISE: “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14.

SCRIPTURE READING: Joshua 24:14-17.

“Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed.”

EXPOSITION:

Choice making is the act of choosing or selecting what is believed to be of superior grade or preferred. The truth about life is that our today is the outcome of the choice we made yesterday. At the time, our today’s choice and decision will define what our tomorrow will be. Many heroes of faith in the Scripture made wrong choice and has deadly consequences over their lives and future generations. The list includes

Cain who killed his brother, Abel, because God accepts his sacrifice and rejects his own. God pronounced him vagabond, fugitive, wanderer, etc. Help will be far from him and no one will have mercy on him.

David: The man after God’s heart, but stoop so low as to engage in adultery with Bathseba. This attracts divine punishment of internal crisis in his family. The Lord said, “Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.” 2 Sam. 12:10-11.

Achan: Became covetous of the accursed things and he became accursed too. This brought desolation unto him and his household. Joshua 7:19-26.

Ananiah and Shaphirah: They sought human recognition and honor and they lied and it was counted against the Holy Spirit. They died instantly as a result. Acts 5:1-10.

Be conscious of your choice and its consequence. Not all consequences is amendable. Seek godly counsel before you make your choice. “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14. Not all that glitter is gold. Apostle Paul says, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” 1 Cor. 10:23.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me in all my decision making not to stand against you In Jesus' Name.

ii. Lord, be the originator and guide of all my decisions in Jesus name.

CALLED TO BE SAINT BUT BECAME A BETRAYAL

TUESDAY, 13TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: CALLED TO BE SAINT BUT BECAME A BETRAYAL

MEMORISE: “The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.” Mt 26:24.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 10:1-4.

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.”

EXPOSITION:

Choice making is as ancient as God himself. Everything God did at creation is product of choice God made. He decided to do them all. He also created men with free-will volition to make choice as he wills. Judas Iscariot is a victim of wrong choice he made in life. He was called like the remaining eleven disciples for the same purpose of reaching the whole world with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, winning souls for Christ. But he missed his track along the line as he pursued money and material wealth. He started with covetousness to stealing to betraying his Master for money. His choice was a costly mistake indeed. He later regrets what he did but could not lead him unto repentance (salvation), as he committed suicide by hanging. That ended his life into hell fire for killing himself.

He was called to be a saint, but he ended being a sinner, a betrayal of trust. He could not be counted among the remaining disciples as the end. In Acts 1:15-26, Matthias was elected to replace him in the ministry. What a tragedy! What are you doing before the Lord? In what way are you also betraying God? If men did not see you, as the rest of disciples did not know the mission of Judas Iscariot, the Lord Jesus knows and sees all you are doing even in the secret. Repent and desist from it now before your sins find you out. Judas Iscariot discovered this too late. He ended his life in sorrow and bitterness. Remember, you are called to be saint, not a betrayal.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, in all the way I have been living as a betrayal of trust, forgive me. I repent from it today In Jesus' Name.

ii. Lord, as many betrayal of trust in your Church, help them to discover themselves and repent genuinely today in Jesus name.

WHY SHOULD WE PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD

MONDAY, 12TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: WHY SHOULD WE PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD?

MEMORISE: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” Proverbs 30:5.

SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 57:13-15.

“When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

WHY SHOULD WE PUT OUR TRUST IN GOD?

1. Because vain is the help of men “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.” Psalms 60:11; 108:12.

2. Because there are days of evil from which it is only God that can deliver “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Psalm 56:3

3. Because victory can only be guaranteed by God not by human strength or skill – “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.” Psalm 20:7,8.

4. Because money can never buy life, God is the giver of life – “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:” Psalm 49:6,7.

5. It is better to put our trust in God than in men and princes. “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.” Psalm 118:8,9.

BLESSINGS OF PUTTING OUR TRUST IN GOD

“They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” Psalm 125:1. They shall experience and enjoy divine establishment and security like mount Zion. They shall become the blessed of the Lord. God shall direct their paths unto fatness and honor. God shall be their father and God. It is written, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5,6.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I receive the blessings of trusting in you In Jesus' Name.

TEST OF YOUR TRUST

SUNDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC: TEST OF YOUR TRUST

MEMORISE: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Proverbs 29:25.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 44:6-8

“For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever.”

EXPOSITION:

Trust is having confidence in a thing believing that it is of quality that cannot fail us. When there is trust, there is flow of life and sense of security. Having trust in a friend enables friendship to go far. God seeks men to trust Him for our daily living in order to keep our relationship with Him alive.

In 1 Kings 17:11-16, when there was serious famine in Israel, there was a widow in Zarephath who was about to eat her last meal and later die together with her son, because there is no more food to eat later. At this time when she has no hope of provision, God sent his prophet to put her trust in God to test on whether she will obey the word of God or not. Though she was left with her last meal and has right to complain and refused. Yet she obeyed the man of God and she was miraculously provided for throughout the famine season in Israel. That she obeyed was a proof of her trust in God. The psalmist says, “For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. 8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name forever.” Psalm 44:6-8.

The Sons of Korah, in the Psalm 44 quoted above, vowed not to put their trust in  their bow, neither in their sword, but in the strength of God who saves from the enemies. They promised to boast only in God. Are you like them? In what do you put your trust? In the rich people, government, family members, friends, business associates, etc. David says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.” Psalm 20:7,8.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I put my trust in you, be my strength all the days of my life In Jesus' Name.

LOVE YOUR WIFE

SATURDAY, 10TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC: LOVE YOUR WOMAN

MEMORISE: “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.” Colossians 3:19.

SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 5:25-29.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:”

EXPOSITION:

A WOMAN is like a rose, if you treat her well, she will bloom; otherwise, she will wither." Show you truly love your wife. It is not enough to profess love for your wife, you must show it by your actions. Let your love be demonstrated in practical ways, such that she will feel and appreciate it. Love like a river flows from the top (husband) down to meet the wife, as she submits.

There are virtues in our women greatly to be desired. It is coded. It takes wisdom to decode it. The key to decode it is found in the Scripture:

1. Love: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” Ephesians 5:25. Women need love; they are at their best when you truly, practically demonstrate love to them. Make your wife feel loved.

2. Be happy and Rejoice in the wife of your youth - “Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.” Proverbs 5:18.

3. Be conjugally satisfied only in your wife “Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.” Proverbs 5:15.

4. Give her the attention she deserves, and never treat her as if she's a burden to you.

5. Do not cheat on her for God is the judge between you and the wife of your youth. “Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.” Malachi 2:14-15.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help all our men to bring out the best in their wives In Jesus' Name.

LORD, REMEMBER ME FOR GOOD.

FRIDAY, 9TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC:  LORD! REMEMBER ME FOR GOOD

MEMORISE: “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.” Genesis 41:14.

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 40:18-23; 41:1-14 (Please, read from your Bible)

EXPOSITION:
It has been established on several occasions that human calculation or timing cannot equal God’s. Joseph was imprisoned for years for sin not committed. He most have prayed, waiting for a wonder that will bring him out but all seem not coming. Yet he hope in God. At a time, his hope became brighter when he interpreted the dream of butler and used the opportunity to send him to Pharaoh for his release. He said, “…think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.” Genesis 41:14-15. Unfortunately, he forgot him completely for the next two years. “Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgot him.” v. 23.

But at the right time of God, God troubled Pharaoh with heart-threatening dreams of what would soon happen in Egypt and made Joseph an interpreter and solution provider for him. This did not only brought him out of prison but also got him elevation to an envious position he would not have ask for or think of. When God has not remembered a man, sitting with nobles will not mean he is one of them. Joseph thought Butler will remember him for his good deed immediately, but he didn’t until God act. Stop looking at men for help, make your needs known and look unto God for help. He sends help at the right time. He never comes too late.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, remember me today for good in Jesus name.

HOW CAN WE RECEIVE GRACE

THURSDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC:  HOW CAN WE RECEIVE GRACE?

MEMORISE: “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 1:14,16-18

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth… And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

EXPOSITION:

Though the grace of God is meant for everyone but of a truth, not all people receive or enjoy this grace. Therefore what must do to receive this grace and enjoy it?

1. We must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour sincerely. This is gate way to becoming a member of God’s family. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth… And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” John 1:14,16-18.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, we became rich through his poverty. “Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:7,9.

2. We must be humble. God detests anyone who is sufficient in himself. A proud look and haughty heart God abhor “And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.” 2 Samuel 22:28. “Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.” Proverbs 3:34; God gives grace to the humble and will draw them to Himself to have relationship with them and give them enabling grace to walk with Him. “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” James 4:6.

3. We cannot earn grace by our good works – “For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.”  Romans 11:16; “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” 2 Timothy 1:9.

4. We cannot earn grace by keeping the law - “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14; “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, let your grace be sufficient for me in Jesus name.

THE WONDERS OF GRACE

WEDNESDAY, 7TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC:  THE WONDERS OF GRACE

MEMORISE: “The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee.” Numbers 6:25.

SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 2:8-10

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

EXPOSITION:

Grace is God’s free and underserved favour. Grace is God’s life transforming gift of His favour to those who do not deserve it. The gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins is available for all who through faith accept His grace revealed in Jesus Christ, but so many miss the gift because they rely on themselves and try to earn grace by keeping the law.

God’s grace also supplies us with everything we need for daily life, and to that end he invites us to come to him with our needs to a limited extent, even the wicked receive blessings from God’s grace.

1. Grace appears in the blessing God asked Aaron to be blessing the children of Israel with everyday of their life. Numbers 6:22-26 says “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

2. Salvation is by grace – “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” Acts 11:18

3. Salvation received by faith – “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Gen. 15:6.

4. Salvation is not by work – “Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. 5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.” Deut. 9:4-6.

5. Grace needed for each day – “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”  Psalm 84:11

6. Grace is even given for the wicked to repent and be blessed – “Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.” Isaiah 26:10.

PRAYER POINT: Celebrate the grace of God you are enjoying in your daily living and thank God for it.

DREAM AND ITS REALITY - Part 2

TUESDAY, 6TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC:  DREAM AND ITS REALITY – Part 2

MEMORISE: “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.” 1 Kings 3:5.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Kings 3:5-15.

“In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.”

EXPOSITION:

I hear many people saying dream is foolish or unreal. But from the Scripture, we realized that dream is one of many unique ways God is communicating with men. It is a way to know the mysteries of the past , the present and also the future. As I said in our yesterday’s devotional guide, dream has many sources: God, the devil, psychology, senseless, and dream without sleeping. From our today’s Scripture reading, we saw how God appeared unto king Solomon in his dream asking him to ask whatsoever he wants. What he asked, God gave him even more. It was not only him that enjoyed God’s visitation in the dream… Joseph also saw the vision of his future in his dream and it came to fulfillment.

Even the unbelievers that had encounter with God in their dream got their dreams fulfilled according to God’s revelation. Pharaoh saw the dream of seven years of plenty followed by seven years of sever famine – Genesis 41:1ff. God also revealed the dream of image with golden head to Nebuchadnezzar which is the symbol of the world powers till the end of the age - Daniel 4:1ff. All these and many more came to pass.

If our good dreams and aspirations will come to pass, we must walk with God who only can help us out. If the plan of Joseph brothers had come to pass over him, he would have died without being celebrated in life. It was the presence of God that he enjoyed that gave him favour and protection that sustained him all through tempting stages of his life. There are lots of enemies of destiny and who are ready to fight against our dream realization, we need God to fight for us. Dream is real, whether positive or negative. Partner with God to enjoy the blessing of God-given dreams.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, give life to my God-given dream and let me experience the blessings of good dream in Jesus name.

God, I hereby call on you to give me heaven inspired dreams and ambition to be what You want me to be

DREAMS AND ITS REALITY - Part 1

Monday, 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

TOPIC:  DREAMS AND ITS REALITY - Part 1

MEMORISE: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.”  Acts 2:17 (NKJV).

SCRIPTURE READING: Gen 37:5-8 (NKJV)

⁵ Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.

⁶ So he said to them, "Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:

⁷ There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf."

⁸ And his brothers said to him, "Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?" So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words."

EXPOSITION:

1. TYPES OF DREAMS

a. Spiritual dreams. The source is God, Acts 2:17.

Someone who is not a saint can also be given dreams by God. Examples are Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar. So dreams coming to pass is not an attestation of acceptance of the dreamer by God.

b. Satanic dreams. The source is from the kingdom of darkness. Just like prophesy, Satan always has a counterfeit to all spiritual gifts of God. Example: Eating in the dream is definitely not from God.

c. Psychological dreams. Such dreams are products of your mind or what you think about at a particular time, Isaiah 29:8.

d. Senseless dreams. There are dreams that you cannot bring a sense out of it. But you must be sure it is senseless before you come to that conclusion. Pharaoh's dream appeared senseless but it was coded with meanings. If you can remember your dream and narrate it logically, it may not be classified as senseless.

e. "Sleepless" dreams. These are dreams concerning your plans or  ambitions. These has nothing to do with sleep.

2. PURPOSE OF DREAMS

a. Dreams from God are to pass across a definite message from God whether negative or positive. They may be divine revelations as to what heaven or the kingdom of darkness is planning. Which ever way, they should be committed to God in prayer either to prevent the evil or to pray that the good come to pass.

b. Satanic dreams often come to confuse, deceive and instil fear into your heart. At times it is a revelation of satanic project that must be resisted through faith and prayers instantly. In most cases, they contradict the word of God. Don't take it for granted but use the word of God and prayer to cancel it.

c. Psychologic dreams may just be a reflection of the preoccupations in your mind while senseless dreams are just to be discarded.

d. A person without "Sleepless" dreams inspired by God and backed up with plans to fulfil them is as good as dead.

3. POINTS TO NOTE ON DREAMS

a. A sinner is not likely to understand God given or satanically inspired dreams because there is no light or Spirit of God in them. Nebuchadnezzar and Pharaoh had to call for the help of saints in order to interprete their dreams.

b. In most occasions, God uses symbols to speak in the dreams. The only way to decode them is to go to the scriptures and know how those symbols are used. You must be conversant with the word of God if you want to be the interpreter of your dreams.

c. Never take any meaningful and reasonable dream for granted. You must seriously pray on or against them.

d. If you don't dream, you may be missing a very important way God speaks to people even though it is not a crime.

e. For every dream that you dream, the word of God is more authoritative and final. So don't exalt the dream above or contrary to the written word of God.

PRAYER POINTS

*Lord,* open the door of my inner man to be hearing your voice more clearly and regularly.

*Lord,* give me the spirit of understanding and discernment needed for decoding my dreams correctly

*God,* I hereby call on you to give me heaven inspired dreams and ambition to be what You want me to be.

*Ask* for the Spirit of revelation to descend on His children.

BLOCK THAT CHANNEL 1

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for SATURDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE - General Overseer

TOPIC:  BLOCK THAT CHANNEL 1

MEMORISE: “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” – Matthew 5:30

SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 5:28-30 (KJV)

“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”

EXPOSITION:

The devil is cunning, not wise. When he sees a Christian determined not to commit sin, he puts strategies in place to ensure such a one falls. He locates the person’s weakness, then searches for a channel through which he can bring him/her down.

Once the devil discovered Moses weakness, he began to find ways to get him angry, so he could misbehave. He used Miriam but Moses overcame (Numbers 12:10-13); he also used the Israelites to get him angry by successfully tempting them to worship the golden calf (Exodus 32:1-6). On Moses return from the mountain, he got so angry with the Israelites that he broke the tablets God had just given him (Exodus 32:19).

The devil knew anger was Moses weakness so he continued using the Israelites to annoy him. At another time, Moses let the murmurings of the Israelites get to him again and he lost his temper terribly (Numbers 20:10-12). The devil had him in his hands. Since the devil has made it a point of duty to discover and exploit the weakness of all Christians, what should we do?

Block every channel he could use to employ that weakness against you. The devil knows you can control what you see on the streets, so he might try another channel your phone. If you allow lust to take over when provocative pictures pop up on your phone, the devil will rejoice in having found a channel to destroy you. He will then start to introduce more provocative pictures and even more sites to nurture the seed of lust he has planted. You won’t be a victim in the mighty name of Jesus. Brother, the devil could attack you through the smile of a young lady when you are stressed. He could also use provocation from your spouse to lure you to source money through shady means. Whatever that channel may be, cut it off completely or train your mind to ignore it.

If Moses had blocked the channel of anger early enough, perhaps he would have overlooked the murmurings of the Israelites and reached the promised land. You have the chance now, don’t become a victim. Block those channels!

PRAYER POINT:

Father, expose every hidden channel of destruction the devil could use against me. Give me the grace to block and forsake them completely, in the mighty name of Jesus.
