FAINTING AT THE BATTLE?

Thursday, 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2022.

Topic: FAINTING AT THE BATTLE?

MEMORISE: “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Samuel 21:15-17.

“Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint. And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.”

EXPOSITION:

To faint, by definition, is to lack strength or vigor. It is to be weak and likely to lose consciousness. It is lacking conviction or boldness or courage. There are times in the journey of life that we grow wearied and fainted. At this time, we see things in human perspectives and no longer with God’s eyes. Fainting at the war front is a sure path to death. David was a victim; he grew fainted in the battle against a philistine giant. He almost lost the battle if not for timely intervention of Abishai, one of his mighty men. He started strong with the killing of Goliath. His fame was noised even in the camp of his enemies. But in the cause of time, he grew wearied and fainted. But It is written, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10.

Let us learn from the courage of Hannah in her days of sorrow. When others have given up on her possibility of being fruitful, she never lose hope. Despite being mocked by her rival, she grows strong in her communion with God. Don’t be fainted in the day of evil. With God, all things are possible. It is written, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, be my strength in the day of evil and guard me against weariness In Jesus' Name.
