*TOPIC: THE ETERNAL REWARDS OF THE BELIEVERS:*
*FIVE CROWNS FOR THE SAINTS - Part 1*
*OBJECTIVE: To encourage believers to live faithfully, knowing that God has reserved eternal crowns for those who love and serve Him.*
*MEMORIZE: “Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.” (1 Corinthians 9 v. 25).*
*SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Timothy 4:7–8.*
*“7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”*
*EXPOSITION:*
Many run the Christian race, but not all finish well. The apostle Paul, nearing the end of his journey, declared with confidence: *"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness..." (2 Timothy 4:7–8).*
Crowns are not given for merely starting the race, but for finishing it faithfully. In Scripture, there are five different crowns promised to the saints—eternal, glorious rewards from the Righteous Judge.
*I. THE INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN – FOR SELF-CONTROLLED SAINTS*
*“24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:24–27*
*Key Verse:* *“Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.” (v. 25).*
This crown is for those who bring their bodies under discipline and live temperate lives. It’s the reward for those who deny the flesh and walk in the Spirit. Are you running to win? Or have you become entangled with the pleasures and distractions of this world?
An Olympic athlete sacrifices pleasures, follows strict diets, and endures intense training for a medal that fades. How much more should we, for a crown that never fades?
There are many earthly crowns—of power, fame, success—but they all fade. The crowns God gives are eternal. These crowns are not for the perfect, but for the faithful. They are not earned by merit, but granted by grace to those who:
* Run with self-discipline,
* Long for His appearing,
* Endure trials for His name,
* Shepherd others faithfully, and
* Win souls to Christ.
Will you be crowned on that day? Will heaven recognize your life as one that counted?
*PRAYER POINTS:*
* “Lord, give me grace to endure. Let my love for You outweigh my trials.
* I choose faithfulness over comfort. I will finish well In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
