Topic: MERCY FOR DELIVERANCE (VISITING THE SOURCE) – Part 1
MEMORIZE: “Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'" 2 Kings 2:21
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 2:19-22
“Then the men of the city said to Elisha, "Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren." And he said, "Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'" So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.”
EXPOSITION:
The source, by definition, is a place, person or thing you get something from. For example, we have source of information/income; source as the place where a river or stream starts. The source also referred to a person or thing that causes something, particularly a problem: for example, a source of confusion, violence, or trouble.
Spiritually, every male man is a head of a clan, a source for his descendants, a determinant of the destiny and future of his lineage, a frontier and pillar of confidence for the children, etc. A man that is caged in the realm of darkness automatically has his descendants in serious bondage. Many men that were captured by the enemies of destiny found it difficult to be delivered because of their prayerlessness and inability to discover their state of captivity. The reality of life is that the battle a man could not overcome shall confront the children.
The men of Jericho came to Elisha, they knew they had problem, but never know the cause or its origin. The bitterness of the water and barrenness of the land of Jericho has a source. If the source is bitter, wherever it flows to will be bitter. When the source is cursed, his offspring is also curse. The major affliction many people are passing through today is not primarily self-caused but inherited. If the chain of affliction is not broken from its source, the suffering may be transferred to another generation innocently. Know that all problems and sorrow have a source. When it is rightly addressed, the solution will come easily. Elisha poured salt into the source of the river of Jericho, and the city was permanently healed. “Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'" So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.”
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, heal me from my source and cause me to recover from all set back I have suffered in life in Jesus name.
