NO MORE SEPARATION THERE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 31ST  JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

 *Topic: NO MORE SEPARATION THERE*

*MEMORIZE: “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17.*

 *SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.*

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

 *EXPOSITION* :

We thank God for counting us among the living today the last in January, 2023. Praise God!!! Hallelujah!!!

The greatest expectation of the Church is to see and be with her Saviour one day. This is the hope that keeps her (the Church) waiting and enduring hardship and persecution from one generation to another. At the rapture, here is the bliss of the saints at that day: they shall be ever with the Lord, 1 Thessalonians 4:17. It will be some part of their felicity that all the saints shall meet together, and remain together forever; but the principal happiness of heaven is this, to be with the Lord, to see him, live with him, and enjoy him, forever. Here on earth, death put separation between lovers. It is a great enemy to humanity. The word of God says, it is the last enemy that God shall destroy – “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” 1 Cor. 15:26.

This should comfort the saints upon the death of their friends, that, although death has made a separation, yet their souls and bodies will meet again; we and they shall meet together again: we and they with all the saints shall meet our Lord, and be with him forever, no more to be separated wither from him or from one another for ever. Therefore, apostle Paul would have us comfort one another with these words, 1 Thessalonians 4:18. We should endeavour to support one another in times of sorrow, not deaden one another's spirits, nor weaken one another's hands, but should comfort one another; and this may be done by serious consideration and discourse on the many good lessons to be learned from the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead, the second coming of Christ, and the glory of the saints in that day.

*PRAYER POINT:* Lord, count me worthy for the awaiting rapture in Jesus name.

ii. Holy Spirit, help me not to end my Christian journey like Judas Iscariot In Jesus name.

WHETHER YOU ARE READY OR NOT, JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For MONDAY, 30TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: WHETHER YOU ARE READY OR NOT, JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON

MEMORIZE: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.

EXPOSITION:

The Lord Jesus will come down from heaven in all the pomp and power of heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:16): The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout. He ascended into heaven after his resurrection, and passed through these material heavens into the third heaven, which must retain him till the restitution of all things; and then he will come again, and appear in his glory. He will descend from heaven into this our air, 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The appearance will be with pomp and power, with a shout--the shout of a king, and the power and authority of a mighty king and conqueror, with the voice of the archangel; an innumerable company of angels will attend him. For the trumpet shall sound, and this will awaken those that sleep in the dust of the earth, and will summon all the world to appear.

The dead in Christ shall rise first (1Th 4:16), before those who are found alive at Christ's coming shall be changed. This means those who shall then be found alive shall not prevent those that are asleep, 1Th 4:15. The first care of the Redeemer in that day will be about his dead saints; he will raise them before the great change passes on those that shall be found alive: so that those who did not sleep in death will have no greater privilege or joy at that day than those who fell asleep in Jesus.

Those that shall be found alive will then be changed. They shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, 1Th 4:17. At, or immediately before, this rapture into the clouds, those who are alive will undergo a mighty change, which will be equivalent to dying. This change is so mysterious that we cannot comprehend it: we know little or nothing of it, 1 Cor. 15:51.  Only, in the general, this mortal must put on immortality, and these bodies will be made fit to inherit the kingdom of God, which flesh and blood in its present state are not capable of. This change will be in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (1Cor. 15:52), in the very instant, or not long after the raising up of those that sleep in Jesus. And those who are raised, and thus changed, shall meet together in the clouds, and there meet with their Lord, to congratulate him on his coming, to receive the crown of glory he will then bestow upon them, and to be assessors with him in judgment, approving and applauding the sentence he will then pass upon the prince of the power of the air, and all the wicked, who shall be doomed to destruction with the devil and his angels. Therefore, it is to your advantage that you believe and accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God and your personal Lord and Saviour. Your decision today about Jesus Christ (if you accept Him) you will be a blessed of the Lord but if rejected, you will become condemned for ever. Decide wisely.

PRAYER POINT: i. Lord, help me to remain steadfast in my walk with you till I see you face to face in your glory in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, help the unbelievers to see the reality of confessing the Lordship of Jesus Christ before it is too late

CONDEMNATION IS THE ROOT CAUSE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SUNDAY, 29TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: CONDEMNATION IS THE ROOT CAUSE

MEMORIZE: “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1, NASB

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 3:9-16.

“9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" 10 So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." 11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?" 12 Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate." 13 And the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." 16 To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you." 17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."”

EXPOSITION:

When you have a plant with sickly leaves, it would be foolish to just treat the leaves without knowing the root cause of the problem. Similarly, when “leaves” of sickness, poverty and destructive habits start sprouting in your life, you need to know what the root cause is. Experts will tell you that it is stress. They may go a little deeper and say that it is fear—fear of the future, of rejection, of loss, of death and so on. But is fear really the root? Or is there something deeper than fear?

The Bible shows us that the most fundamental cause of problems in our lives is condemnation. With condemnation comes fear. Fear then induces stress which brings about the symptoms of the curse. This is what happened to Adam. Long before he faced poverty, sickness and eventually death, he had stress. Because of his sin, God told him, “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground.” (Genesis 3:19) Sweat speaks of stress. But before there was stress, there was fear because Adam told God, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:10)

But what made Adam fearful? Adam only feared when, seeing his nakedness, he realized that he had sinned against God. He felt so ashamed and condemned that he hid himself. God then asked him, “Who told you that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11) There was no one else in the garden other than Adam and Eve, so we know that it was probably the devil who told Adam that he was naked.

My friend, condemnation is the root cause of the symptoms of the curse manifesting in your life. That is why you need to know that at the cross, God took all your sins, put them on Jesus and unleashed the full fury of His wrath against them until Jesus cried out, “It is finished!”

All your sins have been completely punished in the body of Christ who was condemned for you. The root cause of all your problems has been dealt with. This means that the devil cannot enforce the curse in your life apart from your receiving condemnation. So come to the place of no condemnation and no sick leaves will sprout in your life!

PRAYER POINT: Thank You Lord Jesus for my deliverance from the curse and its punishment in Jesus name.

HOW LONG WILL GOD ENDURE YOUR PROVOCATIONS?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SATURDAY, 28TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: HOW LONG WILL GOD ENDURE YOUR PROVOCATIONS?

MEMORIZE: "Then the LORD said to Moses: "How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?" (Numbers 14:11)._

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 23:26-30.

“26 Nevertheless the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath, with which His anger was aroused against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. 27 And the LORD said, "I will also remove Judah from My sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, 'My name shall be there.'" 28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 29 In his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went to the aid of the king of Assyria, to the River Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him. And Pharaoh Necho killed him at Megiddo when he confronted him. 30 Then his servants moved his body in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.”

EXPOSITION:

King Manasseh provoked the Lord and overstretched the mercy of God through provocations and unrestrained abominable acts King 21:11-16. The provocation was so much in the sight of God that his successor, Josiah the great reformer, could not reverse the judgement of doom and captivity on Judah despite all his unparalleled reformation vv26,27 (our text).

What provoked God?

a. Unbelief that led to open rebellion against God's appointed ministers, Numbers 14:11;                                                                                                                       16:30.

b. Breaking His covenant ( His word) and secret or open allegiance to other gods, worldly desires, ambitions and habits Deuteronomy 31:20, Ezekiel 8:3.

c. Open rebellion against His word with the disposition of "nobody can do anything" Isaiah 3:8,9.

d. Wrong actions and wrong use of the tongue against the Lord, Isaiah 3:8,9.

Read Numbers 14:23, Ezra 5:12, Hebrews 3:17,18 and observe that unrepentantly provoking God led to final irreversible evil prophecies and judgements on His people. God has not changed. "They do always err...", "how often did they provoked me" (“How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert!” Psalm 78:40, “Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.'” Hebrews 3:8,9,10) were divine utterances that signalled irreversible judgements as a result of recklessly provoking the Lord.

The New Testament language for provoking the Lord is grieving the Holy Spirit – “How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert!” Psalm 78:40, “Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.'” Hebrews 3:10. Believers can grieve (or provoke) the Holy Spirit in different ways. Check Ephesians 5:30-32 to be sure you are free from this sin. There is a limit a believer can continuously grieve the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Let the Holy Spirit do a deeper cleansing of my heart from all thoughts and habits that grieves the Holy Spirit🙏

ii. Lord save and purge your children from all their peculiar sins that grieves the Spirit🙏

DIVINE PUNISHMENT

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For FRIDAY, 27TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

 Topic: DIVINE PUNISHMENT

MEMORIZE: *"Notwithstanding the LORD turned out from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal" (2 KINGS 23:26).

EXPOSITION:

Sometimes, we ask why some bad things happen to good people. But most of the time we do not seek the answers from the right sources. And so, we keep asking the same question over and again without getting answers that could put such endless questions to rest.

It is a reality of life that the answers go beyond human comprehension but we can understand if, by divine revelation, we are privileged to have some inkling. The ignorance of man produces a tendency to shift attention to wrong causes sometimes to remain hardened in iniquity. Rather than show contrition, people tend to explain away the repercussions of evil deeds. This helps to perpetuate more evil and confusion. Ignorance is not a justification for man's errors and not a reason to think God will support wrongdoings.

Manasseh had provoked God, who was going to deal decisively with the people. His earlier pronouncements on Jerusalem, that His name would be there, was not enough to deter Him or assuage His anger, seeing that the people were presumptuous and adept in sinning. God is love; yet, He is also a consuming fire. What happened in times past can still happen again today to those who remain in iniquity and do things that are displeasing to God. Rather than pity those who suffered at that time, we should examine what moved God to disown and visit them with severe punishment. Only then shall we understand how to escape divine judgment.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you offend man, you can run to God; if you offend God, who will you run to?

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, let your mercy overlook all my previous provocations as I am making up my mind now to start walking closely to thee.

ii. Teach me Lord to walk closely with you as I now reject all the tendencies to grieving the Holy Spirit.

7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 4

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For THURSDAY, 26TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 4

MEMORIZE: “So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 2 Kings 6:16.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 6:15-17.

“15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?" 16 So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

 *EXPOSITION* :

 *6. MENTORS STAY CONNECTED*

The seven qualities of a good mentor include staying connected with the mentee. At times, it is appropriate for a mentor to provide tangible support for the mentee’s career. Some examples of this might be notifying the mentee about specific job or assignment opportunities, introduce the mentee to other people that can support their development, or sponsor them for special projects or new roles. To be in a position to offer this kind of support to the mentee, the mentor must be well-networked and have resources to tap.

In our today’s Scripture reading, the servant of Elisha was sore afraid when he saw the chariots of horses of the army of the king of Syria in multitude to capture them. But Elisha was calm and being connected with God, he prayed to God for divine eyes opening for him. Immediately, God opened his eyes and he was connected to the realm of supernatural of God. He saw beyond the level and dimension he has ever been operating before.

 *7. THEY ARE CURIOUS*

Even though the mentor is typically seen as the experienced one in a mentor/mentee relationship, it is not helpful to frame the mentor as having *“arrived.”* A good mentor should have curiosity and a desire to learn and grow. The best mentoring relationships recognize that learning can go both ways. For example, in reverse mentoring, the mentor might learn specific skills from the mentee (such as technology skills), even though the mentor is more experienced.

In 2 Kings 6:1-7, it was the servants of Elisha that called the attention of their master to the fact that the house where they were living together with their master was too tight for them, They need expansion. They sought his consent for enlargement and even his presence to go with them to Jordan and he approved it. He later became solution to what could have been a great irrecoverable loss for them.

If you are looking for a professional mentor, use this list of qualities of a good mentor to select the right one. And for those considering or already in a mentoring role, it is helpful to reflect on these qualities and find opportunities to improve.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to be up to the task ahead of me as a positive transformer of destiny in Jesus name.

7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 3

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For WEDNESDAY, 25TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

 7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 3*

*MEMORIZE* : “ *And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.” 1 Kings 3:28* .

 *SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 72:1-5* .

“Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king's Son. 2 He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice. 3 The mountains will bring peace to the people, And the little hills, by righteousness. 4 He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor. 5 They shall fear You As long as the sun and moon endure, Throughout all generations.”

 *EXPOSITION* :

A mentor, by English Dictionary definition, is a wise and trusted guide and advisor. Mentorship and discipleship are the same thing, talking of learning the life and good pattern of becoming like the leader. In Christian way, Discipleship is learning the life of Christ through the leaders we can see.  Mentorship is the general word that cut across all fields of life while discipleship is Christian language of the same meaning and function.

Today, we want to examine 4th and 5th qualities of good mentor.

 *4. MENTORS ARE NON-JUDGMENTAL*

One of the most important skills of being an effective mentor is the ability to listen and withhold judgment. Mentors should avoid using loaded words like *“should,”* *“must,”* or *“right/wrong.”* When one person in a mentoring relationship is judgmental, it creates distance between the two individuals: the mentee feels resentful, and can perceive the mentor as smug and sanctimonious. However, providing the mentee with a safe space to try out new ideas or talk through problems can be extremely helpful for the mentee’s growth.

 *5. MENTORS ARE ENTHUSIASTIC*

A long-term mentor is likely to see a mentee through metaphorical peaks and valleys in the mentee’s career. A mentor who exudes a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and optimism through the good times, as well as the bad times, is bound to rub off on the mentee, and motivate the mentee to push through difficult obstacles.

 *PRAYER POINT:*

i. Lord, give me good mentor(s) who will put me right in the journey of life and kingdom service in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, make me a good mentor to those under me in Jesus name.

7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 2

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 24TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: 7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 2

*MEMORIZE:* *“Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan." But he said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So the two of them went on.” 2 Kings 2:6.*

 *SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 2:9-14* .

“9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me." 10 So he said, "You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so." 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. 13 He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. 14 Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, "Where is the LORD God of Elijah?" And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.”

 *EXPOSITION:*

Today, we want to look at two more qualities of good mentors.

*2. MENTORS ARE HONEST AND CANDID*

One of the main benefits of mentoring for the mentee is the opportunity to receive feedback, which can’t happen if the mentor lacks candor. Many mentees find themselves in situations in which they don’t receive a lot of career-oriented feedback: perhaps they don’t have a lot of contact with their manager, or their manager lacks skills around providing feedback.

Without feedback, mentees can have developmental blind spots that can impede their career progression. By receiving feedback from a relatively objective source, a mentee can get a better understanding of their strengths and developmental areas, increasing their self-awareness. The Mentor must be bold to tell the mentee the truth and even to rebuke the mentee in love without fear. Honesty is a great quality a mentor must possess.

 *3. MENTORS ARE APPROACHABLE*

Mentoring is relationship-based, and the easier it is for the mentee to develop a relationship with the mentor, the better the chances of a successful mentorship. Therefore, one of the main qualities of a good mentor is they should be friendly and accessible, gracious, and warm. Besides being interpersonally approachable, mentors should also make themselves available to mentees on a regular basis. If a mentor is too busy or too far, the mentee will not get as much out of the relationship. A mentor should be able to meet with the mentee on a regular basis, either face-to-face or virtually, as well as be available for informal communication between meetings.

I'm worried when I hear people making someone they have never meet in life, or someone who don't know them as their mentor. No interpersonal relationship. In the days of trouble, they would have no link with their so called mentor. If you don't have a mentor, it is better you prayerfully have one today who will care for your well being as a Father.

*PRAYER POINT:* Lord, help me to be a good leader with great positive influence over all lives around me in Jesus name.

7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 1

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for MONDAY, 23RD JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: 7 QUALITIES OF A GOOD MENTOR – Part 1

MEMORIZE: “ *I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.” Psalm 119:99.*

 *SCRIPTURE READING:*

“19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, "Please let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you." And he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?" 21 So Elisha turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.”  1 Kings 19:19-21.

 *EXPOSITION* :

Samuel Taylor Coleridge has been credited (perhaps incorrectly) with saying, “advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.” Regardless of the original source of the simile, it points to the fact that successful mentoring and coaching require finesse and a light touch. A heavy hand just won’t do. If you are currently in or taking on the role of a mentor, it is important to know what behaviors and attributes on the part of the mentor contribute to a successful mentor-mentee relationship.

Conversely, if you are a mentee seeking out a business mentoring relationship or starting a mentorship program at your company, you will want to know what to look for in a good business mentor.

Below are the seven most important qualities a mentor should have.

1. *A GOOD MENTOR IS WISE*

Mentors are most often sought out for their relevant experience. In the case of professional mentorship, a mentor can work in the same industry, position, or have overcome similar obstacles to what the mentee is facing. For example, a woman mentee might seek out a woman executive as a mentor even though they may work in different industries because the mentor also faces the unique challenges that women face when rising to the executive level.

One of the great qualities of Elijah is wisdom and authority. Mentorship relationship made Elisha to ask for the double portion of the move of God in his mentor. Having relevant experience isn’t enough, we must develop wisdom from experience. The effective mentor should be self-aware, reflective, and able to consider multiple, diverse perspectives.

*PRAYER POINT:* Lord give us your wisdom to lead our mentee right for a fruitful living in Jesus name.

WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR GOD?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SUNDAY, 22ND JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

TOPIC:  WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR GOD?

MEMORIZE:  “Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 19:16-22

16.  And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17.  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18.  He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19.  Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 20.  The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21.  Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22.  But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

EXPOSITION:

You know that you have met the black sheep of a home when you see a person who only cares  about what he/she can get from the family. Good children, no matter how wealthy the family is, are more interested in increasing the family's wealth. Black sheep exist in Gods family too. They only care about what they can get from God and never bother about what they can give to Him. They show up when the Pastor wants to pray for business growth but are absent during evangelism. Thankfully, God also has many children who are committed to giving all to Him, hungry to make Him happy every day. To which category do you belong? Always check to see if God needs anything to be done. Ask your Pastor how you can be of service to God. Organise seminars, evangelisms, Bible Study meetings, invite speakers to teach the people more about the Bible, raise ideas on how the Church can grow. Become obsessed with doing something for God. Mordecai told Esther:  “and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14.  Whatever position you occupy - in the Church or secularly, always seek an opportunity to do something for God through it. Whatever it is you have  professional network, money, influence or physical strength, let your thoughts always be How can I use this to advance the kingdom of God?

The child who is always thinking about giving to the family rather than receiving is the one who will enjoy the best the father of the home has to offer. David was always thinking of what he could do for God. Even when God told him not to build His temple, he provided all that was needed for it. God blessed him so much that he had all he ever wanted, and even more. If you are constantly thinking of what you can do for God, He will pour the best blessings upon you. Those who always offer acceptable service to God never lack any good thing.

ACTION POINT: From now, commit to doing things that would make God happy.

COMPANY FOR THE LONELY - Part 1

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SATURDAY, 21ST JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

TOPIC :  COMPANY FOR THE LONELY Part I

MEMORIZE: “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20.

SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 13:5-6

5. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6.  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

EXPOSITION:

Loneliness can be a very painful experience. It is possible to be in the middle of a large crowd and still be lonely. It is a lonely life when you are a good cook, but have nobody else to eat the meals you prepare. It is a lonely life when you see something and you laugh alone because there is nobody to laugh with. For anyone reading this devotional today who is looking for a life partner, in the name that is above every other name, your wedding bells will ring soon. All that loneliness will be over soon in the mighty name of Jesus. David was one man who experienced loneliness. He was left all alone at the backside of the desert. The only company he had was sheep. When the national prophet visited his town and told his father to bring all his sons, nobody remembered to bring David, but he was eventually anointed by Prophet Samuel and straightaway, the yoke of loneliness in his life was destroyed permanently (1 Samuel 16:11-13 ).

David was alone in the desert for many years, but he did not take that as an excuse to misbehave, after all, nobody could see him there. He did not decide to commit suicide. I want to encourage you: the time of loneliness is not a time to destroy or terminate your future. The anointing that will end the loneliness is coming; when it arrives, will it find you waiting faithfully on God?

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1. He probably wrote that psalm while still a shepherd. He built his battle skills in that time and ended up winning a war for his nation. You need to realise that loneliness is only a phase, not the destination. God will put an end to every form of loneliness in your life, in the mighty name of Jesus.

ACTION POINT:

Use the time of loneliness to build up yourself and your skills. It will pay off in the future.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to see you everyday of my life and to walk with you all the days of my life.

TOOTHLESS BULLDOG

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For FRIDAY, 20TH JANUARY, 2023

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: TOOTHLESS BULLDOG

MEMORIZE: "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years" (REVELATION 20:1, 2).

 SCRIPTURE READING: Revelation 20:1-15

"¹ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. ² He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; ³ and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. ⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. ⁵ But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. ⁶ Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. ⁷ Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. ⁹ They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰ The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. ¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. ¹³ The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. ¹⁴ Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:1-15.

EXPOSITION :

Prof. Carl Armerding once wrote a story about his experience at the zoo. "As I stood there," he said, "an attendant entered the cage of a wildcat through a door on the opposite side. He had nothing in his hands but a broom. Carefully closing the door, he proceeded to sweep the floor of the cage." He observed that the worker had no weapon to ward off an attack by the beast. In fact, when he got to the corner of the cage where the wildcat was lying, he poked the animal with the broom. The wildcat hissed at him and then lay down in another corner of the enclosure. Armerding said to the attendant, "You certainly are a brave man.""No, I ain't brave," he replied as he continued to sweep. "Well, then, that cat must be tame.""No," came the reply, "he ain't tame.""If you aren't brave and the wildcat isn't tame, then I can't understand why he doesn't attack you," Armerding said. The man chuckled, then replied with an air of confidence, "Mister, he's old and he ain't got no teeth." To the believer, Satan is like the wildcat. Defeated by Christ at Calvary, he lost his fangs!

Since Satan fell by rebellion, his activities on earth and in heaven have been restricted. Our passage shows that during the Millennial reign, Satan will be completely bound and he would not be able to influence governance or people. After that, he would be released for a while to lead a rebellion which will end in his eternal banishment to hell.

It is important for Christians to know that God has made a "hedge" around us so that we can be safe from every onslaught of Satan. Satan is fallen before you today (Luke 10:18). This truth should make you to go out with confidence, knowing that the grace of God is sufficient for you as you endeavour to make the right choices and honour Him.

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* : Satan is the fallen foe incapable of hindering our work for the Lord.

*PRAYER POINT:* Lord, I receive power and grace to exercise my victory over satan and sin in Jesus name.

THE POWER OF DEDICATION

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE  For THURSDAY, 19TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer,

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: THE POWER OF DEDICATION

MEMORISE: “ *If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2nd Timothy 2:2)*

SCRIPTURE READING:  2 Timothy 2:19-21

*19.Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21.If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.*

EXPOSITION:

“…Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:2). So many people take dedication for granted and this is because they don’t understand the power behind it. When you dedicate an object, it becomes the possession and responsibility of who it is dedicated to. This is why you must dedicate your children or property to God alone. It could be very risky to wait several years before handing your children over to God. It doesn’t necessarily require a party; you could just take them to Church and let the Pastor dedicate them officially. If you have to, you can celebrate later.

Some marriages remain fruitless because someone poured libation during the traditional wedding ceremony. This is why we advocate that the Church wedding must be done after the traditional, so any such strange spirit that may have been invited into the union, whether with or without the knowledge of the couple can be expelled. Some businesses have been possessed by one demon or the other because a ‘well-wisher’ invoked a contrary spirit at the opening ceremony. You must never allow such. There is nothing the devil is involved in that ever ends well. From now, dedicate everything that is yours to God.

 *ACTION POINT* :

Mention and/or touch everything that is of value to you and dedicate it to the Most High God now.

*PRAYER POINT* : *Lord, I dedicate my life and the lives of all my family members unto Jesus Christ today in Jesus name.*

PRAYER: DELAY IS NOT DENIA?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for WEDNESDAY, 18TH JANUARY, 2023.

Topic: PRAYER: DELAY IS NOT DENIAL

MEMORIZE: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Kings 18:42-46.

“42 …And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, 43 and said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." So he went up and looked, and said, "There is nothing." And seven times he said, "Go again." 44 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, "There is a cloud, as small as a man's hand, rising out of the sea!" So he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, 'Prepare your chariot , and go down before the rain stops you.'" 45 Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. 46 Then the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”

EXPOSITION:

Prayer is the link between man and God. It is the only access through which we relate with God. Prayer is answered when we pray according to His will. “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” 1 John 5:14-15. But there are times we may pray but not get answer. Answers to all our prayers are categorized into three parts. There are prayers that get “YES” for answer, when we ask right. Some other prayers get “NO” for answer. This usually happen when we pray against God’s will. While other prayers get “WAIT” for answer. This happen when the right time for answer such prayers has not come.

Jesus tells us in our today’s memory scripture that “men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1. Praying always means not to tire in praying to God. We should pray until our joy is full. We should pray at all times.

Elijah prayed to God that there shall neither be rain not dew for three years and six months and it was so immediately. But when he wants the rain to fall after the seasons were accomplished, he prayed for several times without signal of answer until the seventh time. 46 Then the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” 1 Kings 18:42-46.

You may be looking unto God for a request and not get it yet, you may be seeing God as partial God… Remember that “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. All that God permit to come your way is never to destroy you, it will surely be to your blessings. Delay is not denial. God’s plan for you is good and not evil. With God on your side, you shall laugh last for joy.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord Jesus, I pray for grace to pray and pray through in Jesus name.

WILL GOD EXCUSE ANY?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 17TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: *WILL GOD EXCUSE ANY?*

*MEMORIZE* : “They are exalted for a little while, Then they are gone. They are brought low; They are taken out of the way like all others; They dry out like the heads of grain."(Job 24:24).

 *SCRIPTURE READING: Job 24:14-25.*

14 The murderer rises with the light; He kills the poor and needy; And in the night he is like a thief. 15 The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, 'No eye will see me'; And he disguises his face. 16 In the dark they break into houses Which they marked for themselves in the daytime; They do not know the light. 17 For the morning is the same to them as the shadow of death; If someone recognizes them, They are in the terrors of the shadow of death. 18 ¶ "They should be swift on the face of the waters, Their portion should be cursed in the earth, So that no one would turn into the way of their vineyards. 19 As drought and heat consume the snow waters, So the grave consumes those who have sinned. 20 The womb should forget him, The worm should feed sweetly on him; He should be remembered no more, And wickedness should be broken like a tree. 21 For he preys on the barren who do not bear, And does no good for the widow. 22 "But God draws the mighty away with His power; He rises up, but no man is sure of life. 23 He gives them security, and they rely on it; Yet His eyes are on their ways. 24 They are exalted for a little while, Then they are gone. They are brought low; They are taken out of the way like all others; They dry out like the heads of grain. 25 "Now if it is not so, who will prove me a liar, And make my speech worth nothing?"

EXPOSITION:

Please read our today’s scripture reading (quoted above) carefully to examine these truths…

1. No sinner has an excuse for sinning

a. What do you notice in vv14-17 that shows that sinners know when they are doing evil and they try to hide it.

b. All sinners have "refuge of lies" or self, satanic or societal deceptions that they use as excuses for sinning. See some excuses in vv14-17.

c. The refuge of lies must be identified and dismantled with the help of the Holy Spirit and the word of God before the sinner is saved.

d. If you are holding on to your sin, identify the refuge of lies and deception that you are hiding in and ask God to deliver you.

2. No unrepentant sinner will rejoice at the end - vv18-20, 24-25.

The gain of sinning is temporal and brief - v24b. Think of vv18-20,24-25 to see that sinning does not worth it.

TRAGIC END

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For MONDAY, 16TH JANUARY, 2023.

Topic: TRAGIC END

MEMORIZE: *“"They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn" (JOB 24:24).*

 *SCRIPTURE READING: Job 24:14-25* .

¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light; He kills the poor and needy; And in the night he is like a thief.

¹⁵ The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, 'No eye will see me'; And he disguises his face.

¹⁶ In the dark they break into houses Which they marked for themselves in the daytime; They do not know the light.

¹⁷ For the morning is the same to them as the shadow of death; If someone recognizes them, They are in the terrors of the shadow of death.

¹⁸ "They should be swift on the face of the waters, Their portion should be cursed in the earth, So that no one would turn into the way of their vineyards.

¹⁹ As drought and heat consume the snow waters, So the grave consumes those who have sinned.

²⁰ The womb should forget him, The worm should feed sweetly on him; He should be remembered no more, And wickedness should be broken like a tree.

²¹ For he preys on the barren who do not bear, And does no good for the widow.

²² "But God draws the mighty away with His power; He rises up, but no man is sure of life.

²³ He gives them security, and they rely on it; Yet His eyes are on their ways.

²⁴ They are exalted for a little while, Then they are gone. They are brought low; They are taken out of the way like all others; They dry out like the heads of grain.

²⁵ "Now if it is not so, who will prove me a liar, And make my speech worth nothing?"

 *EXPOSITION* :

Experiences in life differ from person to person. Sometimes, those who seem to be faring better are those least expected. This is more so when the best things in life seem to be happening to people we consider to be undeserving of God's favour and mercy. What many lose sight of is that irrespective of how successful a sinner is on earth, if he does not repent, he will meet with an ignoble end.

Job's friends had concluded that the enormity of the suffering and pain he was experiencing could only be because he was a great sinner. In his response, Job did not dispute that God reserves harsh punishment for the sinner. In seeking to show himself as undeserving of their negative characterisation as a sinner, he outlined what a wicked man looks like. He likened such a person to a murderer who takes the poor and needy unawares and kills them. He is like an adulterer who disguises himself and commits immorality under the cover of darkness. He said such a wicked person goes to any length to device his evil acts and cover up his tracks.

But in the end, he is consumed by drought and heat. He is broken, forgotten and eaten by worms in the grave. Though exalted, he is soon cut down, withered and cast off with no remembrance anymore. He obviously considered that he was not like the person he had been describing and therefore, wondered who could successfully contradict what he had said.

Sometimes, God allows such experiences to draw our attention to the fact that sin will always be judged and the outcome will be fearful and fiery. It is therefore necessary for the sinner to retrace his steps, turn from his life of indulgence and evil, and follow Christ without wavering. Otherwise, he is courting unmitigated disaster.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No sinner can escape the long arms of heaven's law

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to overcome the life of sin and walk in the path of righteousness in Jesus name.

FURTHER REASONS WHY WE MUST PRAISE GOD

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for SUNDAY, 15TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: FURTHER REASONS WHY WE MUST PRAISE GOD

MEMORIZE: “Who remembered us in our lowly state, For His mercy endures forever; 24 And rescued us from our enemies, For His mercy endures forever;” Psalms 136:23-24.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalms 136:8-26.

“The sun to rule by day, For His mercy endures forever; 9 The moon and stars to rule by night, For His mercy endures forever. 10 ¶ To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn, For His mercy endures forever; 11 And brought out Israel from among them, For His mercy endures forever; 12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, For His mercy endures forever; 13 To Him who divided the Red Sea in two, For His mercy endures forever; 14 And made Israel pass through the midst of it, For His mercy endures forever; 15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, For His mercy endures forever; 16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness, For His mercy endures forever; 17 To Him who struck down great kings, For His mercy endures forever;  18 And slew famous kings, For His mercy endures forever-  19 Sihon king of the Amorites, For His mercy endures forever;  20 And Og king of Bashan, For His mercy endures forever-  21 And gave their land as a heritage, For His mercy endures forever;  22 A heritage to Israel His servant, For His mercy endures forever.  23 ¶ Who remembered us in our lowly state, For His mercy endures forever; 24 And rescued us from our enemies, For His mercy endures forever;  25 Who gives food to all flesh, For His mercy endures forever.  26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.”

EXPOSITION:

Further Reasons Why We Must Praise God

I. As great and good in himself, Ps 136:1-3.

II. As the Creator of the world, Ps 136:5-9.

III. As Israel's God and Saviour, Ps 136:10-22.

IV. As our Redeemer, Ps 136:23,24.

V. As the great benefactor of the whole creation, and God over all, blessed for evermore, Ps 136:25,26.

More particularly,

[1.] He made the heavens, and stretched them out, and in them we not only see his wisdom and power, but we taste his mercy in their benign influences; as long as the heavens endure the mercy of God endures in them, Ps 136:5.

[2.] He raised the earth out of the waters when he caused the dry land to appear, that it might be fit to be a habitation for man, and therein also his mercy to man still endures (Ps 136:6); for the earth hath he given to the children of men, and all its products.

[3.] Having made both heaven and earth, he settled a correspondence between them, notwithstanding their distance, by making the sun, moon, and stars, which he placed in the firmament of heaven, to shed their light and influences upon this earth, Ps 136:7-9.  These are called the great lights because they appear so to us, for otherwise astronomers tell us that the moon is less than many of the stars, but, being nearer to the earth, it seems much greater. They are said to rule, not only because they govern the seasons of the year, but because they are useful to the world, and benefactors are the best rulers, Lu 22:25. But the empire is divided, one rules by day, the other by night (at least, the stars), and yet all are subject to God's direction and disposal. Those rulers, therefore, which the Gentiles idolized, are the world's servants and God's subjects. Sun, stand thou still, and thou moon.

ACTION POINT:

He that thinks deep shall know how to praise God. Remember, the dead cannot praise God. Cultivate the habit of praise God always wholeheartedly.

FED UP PRAYING ON THE SAME THING?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
SATURDAY, 14TH JANUARY, 2023.

*Topic: FED UP PRAYING ON THE SAME THING?*

MEMORIZE: *“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1.*

SCRIPTURE READING: *LUKE 18:1-8*
*1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;  2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:  3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.  4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;  5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.  6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.  7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?  8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?*

EXPOSITION:
*1. Human responsibility*
Those who will receive answers must see themselves as helpless and hopeless without God like the widow in Luke 18v3. Any cherished thought of alternatives renders the prayers impotent, v5. "Troubles me", "continual coming", "wearies me", " cry day and night" are some of the words Jesus used to describe the prayers of the resolute, vv5,6. It pays to join the resolute saints.

*Q* Why did Jesus said "men ought always to pray and not to be tired, faint or give up"? Think of Job, Abraham, Daniel 21 day delay, Elizabeth and Lazarus death through delay by Christ Himself.

*2. Heavenly reassurance*
a. Some problems and prayer points do not have a quick fix, v1.
b. Delay does not mean God does not hear or not willing to give. He has His reason(s) for "bearing long" with saints at times,  v7. He also has His appointed time.
*Q* From the available revelation about Abraham,  can you advance some reasons why God appears to delay at times?

c. Patience with God and persistence are also elements of faith that cannot be denied, vv7,8. "Have faith in God".

d. The last days will be characterized with preference for ungodly quick fix and impatient faith, v8. Don't be carried away with the spirit of the last days.

e. They "that endures to the end shall be saved", delivered and blessed with answers to prayers, Matthew 24:13. The sweet answer to prayers makes the active endurance worthwhile.

 *PRAYER POINTS:*
i. Ask God to inject persevering faith into your discouraged heart.

ii. Pray that Christ will release His power to attend to the needs of His children in the Church.

PERSISTENCE PAYS

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For FRIDAY, 13TH JANUARY, 2023.

Topic: PERSISTENCE PAYS

MEMORIZE: "And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary" (Luke 18:3).

SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 18:1-8

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;  2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:  3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

EXPOSITION:

A lady in a particular church who invited her neighbour to go to service with her kept count of the times the neighbour refused. It came to 49. She pleasantly mentioned the count to her friend as she issued her fiftieth invitation at the time of a special meeting, At first, the friend declined again but later called and said she would go. "If you are interested enough in me to ask me 50 times to go, I will go with you and see what it is like." She went and liked what she saw. She returned converted. This would not have been possible had the lady not persisted.

The story is similar to that of the widow who would not give up on her demand from a judge. She had approached the judge earlier for help in reclaiming a privilege denied her. The judge ignored her. She went repeatedly but the judge did not budge. The woman refused to give up her right to ask. The Bible did not give details of her deprivations, but she wanted "vengeance" seriously enough. Her preferred solution was to demand her rights from this unnamed judge. The longer the widow persisted in making her requests, the more the judge began to see the merit of granting her desires. And what rights did not fetch, her persistence did!

Believers must never grow weary of praying. To pray always is to keep your requests constantly before God as you live for Him day by day believing that He has answered your prayers. As you pray and live by faith, do not to give up. Initial delay should not discourage you.

We must ask again and again until our joy is full. And it must be noted that as we persist in prayer, we also grow in character, faith and love. If an unjust judge would positively respond to constant pressure, how much more will a great and loving God respond to His children?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Delay is not denial - ask again and again!

PRAYER POINT:

i. Give praises to God for answered prayers of the past and the fact that He will continue to answer prayers.

ii. Ask for grace to persevere and never get tired, fed up and back out in prayers.

BUDGET FOR THE TRUTH

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For THURSDAY, 12TH JANUARY, 2023.

Topic: BUDGET FOR THE TRUTH

MEMORIZE: “”Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them" (Jeremiah 18:20).

SCRIPTURE READING: JEREMIAH 18:18-23

¹⁸ Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words." ¹⁹ Give heed to me, O Lord, And listen to the voice of those who contend with me! ²⁰ Shall evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my life. Remember that I stood before You To speak good for them, To turn away Your wrath from them.²¹ Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, And pour out their blood By the force of the sword; Let their wives become widows And bereaved of their children. Let their men be put to death, Their young men be slain By the sword in battle. ²² Let a cry be heard from their houses, When You bring a troop suddenly upon them; For they have dug a pit to take me, And hidden snares for my feet. ²³ Yet, Lord, You know all their counsel Which is against me, to slay me. Provide no atonement for their iniquity, Nor blot out their sin from Your sight; But let them be overthrown before You. Deal thus with them In the time of Your anger."

EXPOSITION

1. To be on the side of the truth is to always live out the truth, speak the truth, stand on the truth, contend for the truth, propagate the truth and die for the truth (if need be), with the purest motive, love and divine wisdom.

2. There is a price to pay for being on the side of the Truth. Unlike Jeremiah, you must budget (count the cost) and receive grace for it in order to endure to the end.

3. Some of the things you should prepare for are:

a. Hurting and secret devices by the enemies of the truth v18.

b. Harmful and injurious "strive of tongues" against the innocent e.g. lies, false representation etc v18.

c. Hardened and deviant attitude against the truth in order to prove a point to those holding on to the truth v18.

d. Heartless and needless contention against the possessors and professors of truth v19.

e. Horrible plans to silence, injure or bury the destiny of the truth bearer(s) v22.

f. Hidden agenda to ensnare and entangle the vocal truth bearer through his words, works, women (men), etc v22.

g. Hatred and other manifestations of hatred by haters of truth.

Note: Jesus Christ, though experienced all these, was totally victorious because He prepared His mind for it and had the grace to endure all contradictions of sinners Hebrews 12:2,3, John 16:33.

4. Wrong attitude during persecution vv21-23.

a. Anger and bitterness.

b. Discouragement and withdrawal from consecration.

c. Unnecessary prayers.

Jeremiah's "prayer" was unnecessary and vain. Why?

Jeremiah himself had prophesied by inspiration that those things will happen to them if they did not repent, e.g. see Jeremiah 11:22,15:7,6:26. Since they refused to repent, those evil will still happen to them without Jeremiah's negative prayers. If they repented, no amount of negative prayers will work against them. See Romans 12:17,19,20.

PRAYER POINT:

i. Lord, give me abundant grace to always manifest all the virtues of those on the side of the Truth.

ii. Lord, let all the plans of haters of truth against my destiny always and forever fail.

iii. Give me the love that will never be bitter or revenge the evils of the wicked.

iv. Lord, visit your Church and purge all hidden traits of hatred for truth from every member.

THE UNCHANGING FUNDAMENTALS

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

WEDNESDAY, 11TH JANUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: THE UNCHANGING FUNDAMENTALS

MEMORIZE: “3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:1-10.

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Corinthians 15:1-10.

“1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

EXPOSITION:

The unchanging fundamentals

1. THE ESSENTIALS  vv3-7.

a. The reality of the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ are nonnegotiable essentials of the gospel vv3,4.

b. It was not an after-thought. It was prophesied right from creation Genesis 3:15, Psalm 16:9,10 (Acts 2:22-32), Isaiah 53.

c. Everything happened "according to the scriptures" exactly as prophesied thousands of years before fulfillment.

d. Purpose of death, burial and resurrection of Christ: "died for our sins", "rose up for our justification" Romans 4:25.

2. THE EVIDENT EYE WITNESSES vv5-8.

a. Peter and the other Apostles, who saw Him face to face at 8 different periods within 40 days before His Ascension. So real that they willingly died for His defense v5,7.

b. James, the half brother of Jesus who later became the President of Headquarters Church in Jerusalem v7, Acts 15:13, 19.

c. 500 brethren who were even alive when the scriptures was written v6.

d. Paul, the Apostle, also saw the resurrected Christ with his naked eyes v8.

e. So, it was not a make up story.

3. THE EXPERIENCE

a. You must believe this fact in your heart and stand on it if you want salvation v1.

b. If you don't take these truth of the scripture seriously and with commitment, your superficial faith will not yield you salvation - it will be in vain v2.

3. The effect of sincere faith and commitment to Christ will yield noticeable transformation of life v9.

4. For example, the proud, persecuting and presumptuous Paul was transformed to a holy, humble, heavenly minded, heartbroken and heart healing Paul overnight. True salvation and deliverance from sin is instantaneous.

Question: Is there any time you can remember that you gave your life to Christ and received a miraculous and total transformation?

PRAYER POINT: Praise God if you are saved and sincerely ask for the experience if you don't have it 🙏

Pray for mere religious church goers in your church that they will receive mercy to encounter Jesus🙏

Ask God to teach you what to teach you different methods of preaching the gospel during this shut down🙏

Pray that His gospel will reach more people during this shut down🙏

Ask God to kill the virus and cleanse our land from its infection🙏

HOW TO TRANSFORM FROM WRETCHEDNESS TO NOBILITY

*ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE* For TUESDAY, 10TH JANUARY, 2023.

Topic: *HOW TO TRANSFORM FROM WRETCHEDNESS TO NOBILITY*

MEMORIZE: “ *Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain."”* 1 Chronicles 4:9.

SCRIPTURE READING:
“ *The sons of Judah were Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. And Reaiah the son of Shobal begot Jahath, and Jahath begot Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites. These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi; and Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah the father of Bethlehem. And Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, and Ethnan; and Koz begot Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.”*  1 Chronicles 4:1-10.

EXPOSITION:
Many people live on earth without relevance. It is never the will or plan of God for any man to live a worthless life on earth. Our God is successful in all His doings, His children must also take after Him in success. Our text today contains a long list of names, obviously, with nothing special to write about them except only one person called Jabez vv9,10.

These are the some steps Jabez took that transformed him from wretchedness to nobility:
1. *Knowledge* : He knew that, being a seed of Abraham, he was a blessed person by covenant vv9, 10. As a child of God, you are joint heirs of all that God has both in heaven and earth. Do you belief this?

2. *Refusal* : He refused to be limited by his birth, background, brain, backwardness, bondage, barriers etc. vv9,10. What about you?

3. *Faith* : He had the personal relationship with God that helped his faith in God of all possibilities vv9,10. Are you born again and having a deep relationship with God?

4. *Clear vision* : He had a clear vision of what God has predestined him to be in life as a seed of Abraham vv9,10. His desire was along this divine vision.

5. *Kneeology* : He made desperate, well defined, devil scaring and daring prayers to God vv9,10.

 *PRAYER POINTS* :
i. Oh Lord, I plead that you will not allow me to live an inconsequential life in my generation.

ii. Lord, give me the revelation of the best I am  predestined to be in life.

iii. Lord, I refuse all forms of limitations in my life. Give me spiritual power to break all of them and soar high in all areas of my life.

iv. Pray for divine visitation for children of God who have ignorantly resigned to wretchedness or mediocrity.

v. Pray for complete failure and disappointments for all super power personalities that want to take the position of God.

Topic: *O FEAR THE LORD, YE HIS SAINTS*

MEMORIZE: “ *Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.

” Psalms 34:9.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalms 34:8-10.

“ *Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.* ”

 *EXPOSITION* :

He wants us to join him in a resolution to seek God and serve him, and continue in his fear (Psalm 34:9): O fear the Lord! you his saints. When we taste and see that he is good we must not forget that he is great and greatly to be feared; nay, even his goodness is the proper object of a filial reverence and awe. They shall fear the Lord and his goodness, Hosea 3:5. Fear the Lord; that is, worship him, and make conscience of your duty to him in everything, +not fear him and shun him, but fear him and seek him (Psalm 34:10) as a people seek unto their God; address yourselves to him and portion yourselves in him. To encourage us to fear God and seek him, it is here promised that those that do so, even in this wanting world, shall want no good thing (Heb. They shall not want all good things); they shall so have all good things that they shall have no reason to complain of the want of any.  As to the things of the other world, they shall have grace sufficient for the support of the spiritual life (2 Corinthians 12:9; Psalm 84:11); and, as to this life, they shall have what is necessary to the support of it from the hand of God: as a Father, he will feed them with food convenient. What further comforts they desire they shall have, as far as Infinite Wisdom sees good, and what they want in one thing shall be made up in another. What God denies them he will give them grace to be content without and then they do not want it, Deuteronomy 3:26. Paul had all and abounded, because he was content, Philippians 4:11, 18. Those that live by faith in God's all- sufficiency want nothing; for in him they have enough. The young lions often lack and suffer hunger--those that live upon common providence, as the lions do, shall want that satisfaction which those have that live by faith in the promise; those that trust to themselves, and think their own hands sufficient for them, shall want (for bread is not always to the wise)--but verily those shall be fed that trust in God and desire to be at his finding.  Those that are ravenous, and prey upon all about them, shall want; but the meek shall inherit the earth. Those shall not want who with quietness work and mind their own business; plain-hearted Jacob has pottage enough, when Esau, the cunning hunter, is ready to perish for hunger.
