Topic: O TASTE AND SEE THAT THE LORD IS GOOD

MEMORIZE: “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 103: 1 - 5.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

EXPOSITION:

The Psalmist in our today’s memory scripture calls us to join him to taste and see the goodness of God. The goodness of God includes both the beauty and amiableness of his being and the bounty and beneficence of his providence and grace; and accordingly, 

(1.) We must taste that he is a bountiful benefactor, relish the goodness of God in all his gifts to us, and reckon that the savour and sweetness of them. Let God's goodness be rolled under the tongue as a sweet morsel. 

(2.) We must see that he is a beautiful being, and delight in the contemplation of his infinite perfections. By taste and sight we both make discoveries and take complacency. Taste and see God's goodness, that is, take notice of it and take the comfort of it, 1 Peter 2:3 says “if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”. He is good, for he makes all those that trust in him truly blessed; let us therefore be so convinced of his goodness as thereby to be encouraged in the worst of times to trust in him. 

The goodness of God extended to all His children in term of protection, provision, guidance, love and care, etc. Anyone who have seen the goodness of the Lord will surely like the psalmist invite others to come and partake in the same. The essence of evangelism and soul winning is to witness to others the goodness of God you have enjoined in salvation. This year, if you can move closer to God and serve him acceptably, you will both taste the goodness of God yourself and also invite others to come and have the taste of the same.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to practically experience your goodness and to bring nations to you in response in Jesus name.
