YOU SHALL BE TESTED BEFORE GLORIFICATION – Part 1
MEMORIZE: “And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.”1 Samuel 1:15-16.
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 1:9-18
EXPOSITION:
Test is a way of knowing one’s ability to do thing or quality of life. Without examination for student, there cannot be promotion. No one got God’s approval for life in ministry with thorough examination called test/temptation. Hannah was barren for the number of unspecified years till her loving husband was moved to married another wife, Peninah, till she gave birth to many children. Peninah became a sore adversary to Hannah, vexing her to sore everyday. She should have giving up praying but her faith and trust in God would not let her.
On a special day, it looks like it used to be everyday but it was special. God have decided to answer her prayer that day. But she must be tested. The examiner came out in person of Eli, the high priest, and he misunderstood the pains and affliction of her barrenness. He took her for drunker and rebuked her. But thank God, she passed the test… She humbly said, "No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. "Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now." 1 Samuel 1:15-16. After her soft explanation, Eli blessed her and said, "Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him." 1 Samuel 1:17. In response to Eli’s blessing, Hannah said, "Let your maidservant find favor in your sight." So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.” 1 Samuel 1:18. God remembered her and she conceived and bore a son, she named him Samuel - 1 Samuel 1:19-20.
How are relating with your pastors? Are they blessings unto you or curse? Ministers of God may not know your pain, instead of insulting them, you have responsibility of explaining your pain to them the way they will understand you. Only God knows how many lives have been ruined in the hands of angry pastors/prophets because they insulted them (the ministers). Ministers are blessing to the Church and even to the world at large, but mishandled relationship can make them so dangerous. Learn to relate well so as to unlock the riches of wealth imbedded in them for your life and family.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, help me to see you in all my situation and not to fail you in Jesus name.
