Topic: DESERTING GOD'S PRESENCE?
Memorize: Be diligent to come to me quickly; for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica… 2 Timothy 4:9-10.
Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 4:25-31.
EXPOSITION:
To desert is to abandon someone or something for whatever reason. Deserting God’s presence is abandoning God’s presence for the lies of the devil, Today, the presence of God is no longer fashionable to people, they are easily offended for a little thing in the Church. They deserted God’s presence for mundane things of this world.
Paul, in today’s memory verse laments, “for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world and has departed unto Thessalonica.” Demas left Missionary team of Apostle Paul and went to Thessalonica to satisfy his own personal pleasure. Where you are today, is it where God wants you or where you have personally chosen for your pleasure? Can God bless you for what you are doing now? What are you doing that speak of you deserting God’s presence? Examine yourself and desist from it before the Day of Judgment comes. When man desert God’s presence, he is disconnected from the source of life and satisfaction.
When you quit the presence of God, you may be substituted in the kingdom service for continuity. Apostle Paul called on Timothy to come and fill the place Demas has left in their kingdom assignment. Hold on to God so you can be relevant and not be substituted.
Prayer Point:
1. Father, help me not to desert your presence in Jesus name.
2. Father, wherever I have deserted your presence for something else, I come back to you, accept me back into your fold and purpose in Jesus name.
3. Lord, As many backsliders, touch them and help them to come back to you in Jesus name.
