Topic: THE TRIAL OF OUR FAITH
MEMORIZE: “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7.
SCRIPTURE READING: Malachi 3:2-3
Trial is the test of life we face to proof the worth of our trust in God. As Christians, we shall all be tried in one way or the other. Your own trial may be different from mine, we would all experience a level of trial per season. His trial is neither to harm us nor to destroy us. It is to test quality of our love, trust and obedience to our master – Lord Jesus.
REASONS FOR TRIAL OF FAITH: It is meant to,
1. Keep us fit to offer to God in righteousness. Mal. 3:2-3. Let us be able to come to the presence of God whether been rejected or condemned. Psalms 24:3 “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”
2. Prove where we belong; whether we are for God or not. Deuteronomy 8:2 “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.”
3. Teach us one of the vital lessons of life which cannot be taught otherwise. That is to teach us that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deut. 8:3 “And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”
4. Let us be usable for God. As much as He loves and eager to use man for His purpose, He may not be able to use us as we are until some certain orientation, habits, attitudes and lifestyle leaves us. Proverbs 25:4 “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.” 2 Timothy 2:21 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”
5. Trial is meant to bring out the best in us. It is never programmed to damage us. You cannot probably know a genius until you test all your students. You cannot determine the carat in a scoop of gold dug in the mine till it has passed through the crucible of fire.
6. It is as well to prove to the devil that, in spite of all his assault on mankind and his purported total wrest of creation from God, the Almighty still has His people that will not deny Him come what may. Are you among such people God can vouch for? And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]? Job 1:8. Can this be said of you?
7. To be joint-heirs with Christ we emulate Him in trial. Hebrews 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities (trial); but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
Allow God to try you, beloved. It is for your good. Every trial of faith is common to all men. What you are going through, someone somewhere is experiencing such or even greater challenges and they are still standing in God. Don't let what you are going through weaken you. Be committed the more unto the living God. Allow Him to wade into your affairs, before long Gods word in Luke 21:13 shall be yours. 'And it shall turn to you for a testimony.' My candid prayer is that no matter our test of life, we shall not fail God in the mighty name of Jesus. Job 23:10 “He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Amen. Shallom!
Prayer Point: Lord God Almighty, as you helped men of old in the days of their trial, hejp me too, not to fail you in my trying moment in Jesus name.
