TOPIC: THE AMAZING PRESENCE OF GOD – Part 2

MEMORIZE: "Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king." 25 "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel 3:24-25.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 124:1-5.

"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side," Let Israel now say- 2 "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us, 3 Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; 4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; 5 Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul."

EXPOSITION:

Of the goodness of God, by which they were rescued from the very brink of ruin: "The Lord was on our side; and, if he had not been so, we should have been undone." 

1.  "God was on our side; he took our part, espoused our cause, and appeared for us. He was our helper, and a very present help, a help on our side, nigh at hand. He was with us, not only for us, but among us, and commander-in-chief of our forces." He was with the three Hebrews in their trial – in the furnace fire. He rescued them from their tormentor. He is always with His people in and through their hard time. Psalm 46:1; Isaiah 43:2; Daniel 3:24-25; .

2. That God was Jehovah; there the emphasis lies. "If it had not been Jehovah himself, a God of infinite power and perfection, that had undertaken our deliverance, our enemies would have overpowered us. Psalm 124:1-2 “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side," Let Israel now say- "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us”

Therefore, happy and blessed are the people whose God is Jehovah - a God all-sufficient. “Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” Ps 144:15. Let Israel say this, to his honour, and resolve never to forsake him.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, I desire your presence in my life everyday of my life in Jesus name.
