Topic: ADORATION TO THE MOST HIGH

MEMORIZE: “I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.” Psalm 9:2

SCRIPTURE READING:

“I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. 3 When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence. 4 For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. 5 You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.”  Psalm 9:1-5.

EXPOSITION:

We praise God for bringing us into the second month in this year, 2023. It is a grace given by God. Therefore we must praise God for this gift of life from God. Adoration, by English definition means “a feeling of profound love and admiration”. It is the act of admiring strongly. It is the worship given to God alone. Knowing the value of God in our lives will compel us to admire Him more than anything in the world, who is worthy of our praise at all times.

The acts and postures by which the Hebrews expressed adoration bear a great similarity to those still in use among Oriental nations. To rise up and suddenly prostrate the body was the most simple method; but, generally speaking, the prostration was conducted in a more formal manner, the person falling upon the knee and then gradually inclining the body until the forehead touched the ground. Such prostration was usual in the worship of Jehovah.

Psalms are full of songs of worship in adoration to Jehovah. Psalm 96:1-6 is an example of it. “1 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.  2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods. 4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. 5 The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land. 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.” Psalm 95:1-6  

PRAYER POINT: Adoring God is an act of appreciating God with the whole of our beings.
