ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For MONDAY, 6TH  FEBRUARY, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Topic:  PRAISE GOD EVEN WHEN IT’S DIFFICULT

MEMORIZE: “1Th 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thess. 5:18.

SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 16:20-26

“Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. 23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.”

EXPOSITION:

In this world, it is easier to give thanks to God and sing praises when things are going on smoothly but very difficult to sing praises in the day of trouble. It took special grace for people like Paul and Silas to praise God while in prison. It was with great faith in God that Jehoshaphat appointed the singers to march to the battle field with praises and they conquered the strong enemies with the weapons of praise. The truth of the matter is that, God wants us to praise Him at all time and in all situations.

In everything give thanks, 1Th 5:18. If we pray without ceasing, as the word of God admonished us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we shall not want matter for thanksgiving in everything.  As we must in everything make our requests known to God by supplications, so we must not omit thanksgiving, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” Philippians 4:6. We should be thankful in every condition, even in adversity as well as prosperity. It is never so bad with us but it might be worse. If we have ever so much occasion to make our humble complaints to God, we never can have any reason to complain of God, and have always much reason to praise and give thanks: the apostle says, This is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning us, that we give thanks, seeing God is reconciled to us in Christ Jesus; in him, through him, and for his sake, he allows us to rejoice evermore, and appoints us in everything to give thanks. It is pleasing to God.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to you bigger than all my enemies and my problems so as to keep praising you at all times in Jesus name.

DAILY BIBLE READING IN A YEAR –  Leviticus 14-16.
