Topic: BREATHE ON ME, O LORD!

MEMORIZE: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 20:22

“And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.” 

EXPOSITION:

A more particular account of the creation of man, Genesis 2:7. Man is a little world, consisting of heaven and earth, soul and body. Now here we have an account of the origin of both and the putting of both together: let us seriously consider it, and say, to our Creator's praise, We are fearfully and wonderfully made, Ps 139:14.  Elihu, in the patriarchal age, refers to this history when he says, (Job 33:6), I also am formed out of the clay, and, (Ge 2:4), The breath of the Almighty hath given me life, and, (Ge 32:8), There is a spirit in man. 

The life of man is empty and has no eternal value without in-filling of the breath of God. The disciples have been trained for three years under the great Master – Jesus Christ, yet before the Master could commission them, he must breath on them. Therefore, it is written, “…He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:22. I desire this divine breath that gave life to the lifeless being. God breathed in ordinary clay and it became a living soul. If He breathes on me, my ordinary will turn to extra-ordinary, valued and meaningful, according to His eternal purpose. Every saint cries for this breath of life that transforms ordinary  

PRAYER POINT: Lord, breath your breath of life on me and transform me to your likeness in Jesus name.
