MEMORIZE: “Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” John 3:5.

SCRIPTURE READING:

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.”  1 Cor. 6:19-20.

EXPOSITION:

Revival by biblical definition is the fresh outpouring of God’s life giving Spirit on His people that restores them to normalcy. It means remarkable  improvement in devotion to God’s people. Literally, revival is the process of bringing somebody back to life, consciousness, or full strength. In the religious sense, it is a new interest in the things of God, or the awakening of such interest.

The Bible further explains revival as “bringing back to active and meaningful life, that which is dead, dying, sleeping, dormant or docile – God’s people, and good legacies, values, norms and dedication” – “Then the men of Kirjath Jearim came and took the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. 2 So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim a long time; it was there twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. 3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines." 4 So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only. 5 And Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you." 6 So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured it out before the LORD. And they fasted that day, and said there, "We have sinned against the LORD." And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpah.”1 Sam. 7:1-6.

To experience true revival, we must repent from our sins sincerely and turn to the Lord totally, obeying His word and doing His will. Ezra was a good example of personal revival. While bringing the returnee of Judah back to GOD, he said, "And now for a little while grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. "For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.” Ezra 9:8-9.

No one can experience revival without genuine repentance. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19. Time of refreshing is another word for revival. It can only come when there is repentance. Come to the Lord and experience the wonders of revival in your life.

PRAYER POINT:  Lord, help me to do the needful and to experience the wonders of your revival in my life, family in Jesus name.

ii. Lord, help your Church to overcome secret sins and to experience the wonders of revival in your Church in Jesus name.
