*ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE*  For THURSDAY, 9th FEBRUARY, 2023.

*Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer*

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

*Topic: MY HEART-YEARNING: SHOW ME YOUR GLORY*

*MEMORIZE:* “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” Isaiah 6:1.

 *SCRIPTURE READING: Isaiah 6:1-7.*

“1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 ¶ So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts."”

 *EXPOSITION:*

Glory, by biblical and theological definition as given by Easton’s 1897 Bible Dictionary means

*(1.)* Abundance, wealth, treasure, and hence honour (Ps. 49:12); glory (Gen. 31:1; Matt. 4:8; Rev. 21:24, 26).

 *(2.)* Honour, dignity (1 Kings 3:13; Heb. 2:7 1 Pet. 1:24); of God (Ps. 19:1; 29:1).

 *(3.)* Splendour, brightness, majesty (Gen. 45:13; Isa. 4:5; Acts 22:11; 2 Cor. 3:7); of Jehovah (Isa. 59:19; 60:1; 2 Thess. 1:9).

*(4.)* The glorious moral attributes, the infinite perfections of God (Isa. 40:5; Acts 7:2; Rom. 1:23; 9:23; Eph. 1:12). Jesus is the "brightness of the Father's glory" (Heb. 1:3; John 1:14; 2:11).

 *(5.)* The bliss of heaven (Rom. 2:7, 10; 5:2; 8:18; Heb. 2:10; 1 Pet. 5:1, 10).

Isaiah had been in the prophetic ministry for years unknown, seeing himself as a perfect man, warning the nation of Israel of God’s judgment for their sins. But himself has not seen his true image before God. In the year that king Uzziah died, God opened his eyes to see the celestial glory of God. What the prophet here saw is revealed to us, that we, mixing faith with that revelation, may in it, as in a glass, behold the glory of the Lord; let us turn aside therefore, and see this great sight with humble reverence.

I. He saw God upon his throne, and that throne high and lifted up, not only above other thrones, as it transcends them, but over other thrones, as it rules and commands them. Isaiah saw not Jehovah--the essence of God (no man has seen that, or can see it), but Adonai--his dominion. He saw the Lord Jesus; so this vision is explained John 12:41, that Isaiah now saw Christ's glory and spoke of him, which is an incontestable proof of the divinity of our Saviour. He it is who when, after his resurrection, he sat down on the right hand of God, did but sit down where he was before, Joh 17:5. See the rest of the Eternal Mind: Isaiah saw the Lord sitting, Ps 29:10. See the sovereignty of the Eternal Monarch: he sits upon a throne--a throne of glory, before which we must worship,--a throne of government, under which we must be subject,--and a throne of grace, to which we may come boldly. This throne is high, and lifted up above all competition and contradiction.

II. He also saw his temple, his church on earth, filled with the manifestations of his glory. His throne being erected at the door of the temple (as princes sat in judgment at the gates), his train, the skirts of his robes, filled the temple, the whole world (for it is all God's temple, and, as the heaven is his throne, so the earth is his footstool), or rather the church, which is filled enriched, and beautified with the tokens of God's special presence.

The singular revelation of the glory of God shown to Isaiah transformed his life and ministry for the rest of his life. When we see the glory of God, it definitely will establish our faith in God and strengthen our relationship with Him. The ministerial lives of Peter, James and John grew tremendously when they witnessed the glory of Jesus Christ on the mount of transfiguration. Apostle John (the beloved) later said, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life” 1 John 1:1. Lord, I thirst to see glory, reveal your glory to me today.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, my heart cry unto you is, “show me your Glory”. Transform my life through the revelation of your glory in Jesus name.
