WHE DO YOU SEE? Part 1

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SATURDAY, 1ST APRIL, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: WHAT DO YOU SEE?

MEMORIZE: “And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.” Genesis 13:14-15.

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 8:22-26.

“And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26 And he sent him away to his house.”

EXPOSITION:

Ability to see is power to possess. It is what you see that define your life.

A blind man was brought to Christ with a desire that he would touch him. Those that brought him have faith that one touch of Christ's hand would recover him his sight; but the man himself showed not that earnestness for a cure that other blind men did. If those that are spiritually blind, do not pray for themselves, yet let their friends and relations pray for them, that Christ would be pleased to touch them.

Christ led this blind man out of the town (Bethsaida) , Mark 8:23. He did not bid his friends lead him, but he himself took him by the hand, and led him, to teach us to be eyes to the blind, Job 29:15. Never did that poor blind man had such a Leader. He had only designed privacy, he might have led him into a house, into an inner chamber, and have cured him there; Perhaps Christ took the blind man out of the town, that he might have a larger prospect in the open fields, to try his sight with, than he could have in the close streets.

The cure of the blind man, by that blesssed Jesus, who came into the world to preach the recovering of sight to the blind (Lu 4:18), and to give what he preached.

In this cure we may observe,

1. That Christ used a sign; he spat on his eyes, and put his hand upon him. He could have cured him, as he did others, with a word speaking, but thus he was pleased to assist his faith which was very weak, and to help him against his unbelief.  And this spittle signified the eye-salve wherewith Christ anoints the eyes of those that are spiritually blind, Revelation 3:18.

2. That the cure was wrought gradually, which was not usual in Christ's miracles.  He asked him if he saw aught, Mr 8:23. Let him tell what condition his sight was in, for the satisfaction of those about him. And he looked up; so far he recovered his sight, that he could open his eyes, and he said, I see men as trees walking; he could not distinguish men from trees, otherwise than he could discern them to move. He had some glimmerings of sight, and between him and the sky could perceive a man erect like a tree, but could not discern the form thereof, Job 4:16. But,

3. It was soon completed; Christ never doeth his work by the halves. He put his hands again upon his eyes, to disperse the remaining darkness, and then bade him look up again, and he saw every man clearly, Mr 8:25.

Brethren, what do you see concerning your life, family, career, relationship, etc. Many people are seeing death, anguish, insecurity, unconquerable enemies, etc, thereby running from one Church to another and from one prophet to another. This made them victim of fake prophets. Do you need the second touch of our Lord Jesus Christ? Cry aloud unto Him. Tell Him the true condition of your life. Don't live a fake life again. If you are truthful to Him, He will touch you again and give perfect restoration and total recovery. Open up to Him before it is too late.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I need your touch of healing and restoration today, touch me now in Jesus name.

Lord, open my spiritual eyes like you did the servant of Elisha when they were opposed by Syrian army. Let me see victory and joy instead of defeat and fear in Jesus name.

TRUST GOD FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For FRIDAY, 31ST MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: TRUST GOD FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS

MEMORIZE: “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” Psalm 34:5.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 6:25-32.

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27  Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.”

EXPOSITION:

Needs are things we need for our daily survival. God, our Creator is in position of supplying those needs. Both the ones we request and the ones we don’t even think we need. But fear and anxieties have been keeping us away from trusting God to meet our needs. Know this truth, life is a greater blessing than our livelihood.  It is true, life cannot subsist without a livelihood; but the meat and raiment which are here represented as inferior to the life and body are such as are for ornament and delight; for about such we are apt to be solicitous.  Meat and raiment are in order to life, and the end is more noble and excellent than the means. The daintiest food and finest raiment are from the earth, but life from the breath of God. Life is the light of men; meat is but the oil that feeds that light: so that the difference between rich and poor is very inconsiderable, since, in the greatest things, they stand on the same level, and differ only in the less.

This is an encouragement to us to trust God for food and raiment, and so to ease ourselves of all perplexing cares about them. God has given us life, and given us the body; it was an act of power, it was an act of favour, it was done without our care: what cannot he do for us, who did that?--what will he not? If we take care about our souls and eternity, which are more than the body, and its life, we may leave it to God to provide for us food and raiment, which are less. God has maintained our lives hitherto; if sometimes with pulse and water, that has answered the end; he has protected us and kept us alive. He that guards us against the evils we are exposed to, will supply us with the good things we are in need of. If he had been pleased to kill us, to starve us, he would not so often have given his angels a charge concerning us to keep us.

Many have looked unto God by faith and prayer, and have been lightened by it, Ps 34:5.  It has wonderfully revived and comforted them; witness Hannah, who, when she had prayed, went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. When we look to the world we are darkened, we are perplexed, and at a loss; but, when we look to God, from him we have the light both of direction and joy, and our way is made both plain and pleasant.  These here spoken of, that looked unto God, had their expectations raised, and the event did not frustrate them: Their faces were not ashamed of their confidence.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I cast all my burden on you, supply all my needs according to your riches in glory in Jesus name.

THE GREAT PHYSICIAN IS HERE

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For THURSDAY, 30TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: THE GREAT PHYSICIAN IS HERE

MEMORIZE: "²¹ Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the Lord: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.' " ²² So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke." 2 Kings 2:21-22.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 5:1-9

“¹ After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ² Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. ³ In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. ⁴ For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. ⁵ Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. ⁶ When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" ⁷ The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." ⁸ Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." ⁹ And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath."

EXPOSITION:

A Physician is a medical practisional who sees to the healing of the people. Since sin has brought curse upon the earth and it's inhabitants, sickness and death also had been inherited. But the mercy of God brings forgiveness and healing upon us, not as right but as gift attached to our forgiveness. When sin abides, sickness and death abide there too. And where there is forgiveness, there is healing and restoration there too. God said in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 "¹² Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: "I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. ¹³ When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, ¹⁴ if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

THE DIMENSIONS IN WHICH HEALING CAN BE PERFORMED.

1. On an individual who calls unto him - The leper who came to Jesus Christ in Matthew 8:1-3 "¹ When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. ² And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." ³ Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed."

Job was healed and recovered all he had lost in the days of his trial. Job chapter 42.

Naman also got healing he sought God of Israel - 2 Kings 5.

2. On individuals who do not know Him or know how to call unto Him. The Man with 38 years infirmity at the pool of Bethesda received healing through the Lord's compassion. John 5:1-9.

3. A family - Obed-Edom and his household were blessed by God tremendously within three month until their fame went viral in Israel. 2 Samuel 6.

4. A city / community: Jericho was healed. 2 Kings 2:19-22 "¹⁹ Then the men of the city said to Elisha, "Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren." ²⁰ And he said, "Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. ²¹ Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the Lord: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.' " ²² So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke."

5. Emotional & psychological sickness / wounds of men can be healed - The widow of Nain was healed and restored as restored her dead son back to life. Luke 7.

6. Financial life can be healed. The widow of the son's of prophet was healed of her debt & was made oil dealer at God's word.

7. Water can be healed - Rivers in Egypt was healed during the 10 plaques and the waters of Jericho in 2Kings 2:19-22.

8. Land can be healed - Land of Jericho in 2Kings 2:19-22.

9. Destiny can be healed - Jabez 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.

10. Lost belongings can be fully recovered His word. The living child of an harlot was restored back to her by king Solomon. 1 Kings 3.  The house and farm land and all its proceeds for 7 years of famine were all restored back unto her. 2 Kings 6. This is also healing.

David and his men recovered their wives and children and also spoiled their enemies.

11. Marriage can be healed - When wine got finished in the wedding at Cans of Galilee, Jesus provided new wine sweeter and better than the former. John 2:1ff

12. Barrenness can be healed - Abraham and Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, etc all experience His wonder of fruitfulness.

13. The dead can experience His resurrection power at His word. Lazarus, Jairus' daughter and the only son of the widow of Nain, of the widow of Zarephath, of the honorable woman of Shunem all experienced the wonders of His resurrection power.

What is that thing that defined your unhealthy living? JESUS CHRIST is the ANSWER. Just trust God for healing. Call him on prayer with faith. And surely at his mercy, you shall recover them all.  Nothing is impossible to do for the great physician, JESUS CHRIST.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I come to you for my wholeness. Touch me today and make me whole from all my unhealthy living in Jesus name.

ADDICTION: AVOID IT!

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For WEDNESDAY, 29TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: ADDICTION: AVOID IT!

MEMORIZE: “My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent." Proverbs 1:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 4:8-9.

“ ⁸ But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. ⁹ But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?"

EXPOSITION:

Addiction is being abnormally tolerant to or dependent on something that is psychologically or physically habit forming, especially in alcohol, narcotic drugs, or uncontrollable urge for sex outside wedlock. Addiction is a chain of worldly influence and entanglement upon a man denying him the grace of God. It is a bondage that is so easy for man to enter but very difficult to come out of it. It is what you give yourself to that you cannot do without it, but it is evil.  The word of God in Hebrews 12:1 called it weight that so easily beset us. We are ask to lay it aside.

Samson was a victim of sexual addiction and it became the bait that his enemies used to trap him down. He wasted the precious grace of God upon his life on the laps of women. He was trapped down at Gaza when he went in with an harlot. Judges 15:1-2 reads, "¹ Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her. ² When the Gazites were told, "Samson has come here!" they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. They were quiet all night, saying, "In the morning, when it is daylight, we will kill him." What the Gazarites could not achieve, Delilah, simple but delicate did it. She betrayed the mighty on her laps. It was what he loved doing that enemies used to finish him. Be careful of addiction, it always have deadly end. If you are a victim, you must repent now before it is too late.

Addiction is often caused by evil association that the word of God says it corrupt good manner. It usually starts with worldly enticement, luring men into the net of eternal destruction, promising that it is harmless but it is deadly. The word of God says in Proverbs 1:10-16, ¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. ¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; ¹² Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; ¹³ We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse"-– ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood." This is the sure answer to the enticement of the enemies for those who have not been initiated.

Anyone who is a victim of bondage of addiction have set aside from following God. He has joined himself with the devil, having his dwelling with the wicked. The Psalmist says in Psalm 101:3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes; I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me." You must call unto God for His mercy and help to come out of it (all forms of addiction).

Galatians 4:8-9, ⁸ But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. ⁹ But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage."

The Meaning of Bondage as given by Christian Women Mirror Almanac of Deeper Life Bible Church (March/April,2023):

B - Bound with Bad habits

O - Occupied with Odds

N - Negative to Nature

D - Deceived by the Devil

A - Attracted to Abomination

G -  Greedy and Guilty

E -  Egocentric and Emotional

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I surrender my heart to you. Break the chains of worldly influences and entanglements from me and give me grace to deny self.

JUST TRUST GOD AND OBEY HIM

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 28TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: JUST TRUST GOD AND OBEY HIM

MEMORIZE: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" Psalm 34:8

SCRIPTURE READING: 1Samuel 15:17-24 (NKJV)

¹⁷ So Samuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel?¹⁸ Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.'¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?" ²⁰ And Saul said to Samuel, "But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. ²¹ But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal." ²² So Samuel said: "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.²³ For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king." ²⁴ Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.”

EXPOSITION:

Trust is to have strong confidence in something or someone that it will not fail. The car you are not sure will take you to your destination, you will not take it out for journey. The staff/follower you know may disgrace you in the public, you will not take him/her out with you. Even men of darkness do trust their weapons and charms. But do trust God today by believing His word?

Trust is not achieved in one day. It is an accumulation of many times tests and trials. A person to trust must have been tested and approved worthy of our trust.

In this case, no one is worthy to trust with whole of our hearts except God. As human being, I have trusted many people with my life, thinking I know them. I believe they will not let me down. But they proved that they are men, they failed me and deserted me when I needed them most. Men can change at any time without giving you notice. Men are too weak than to trust them with your life.

Only God is worthy of our trust. Trusting God usually comes with responsibility: When you trust God with your life, you must obey Him. Achan could not obey Him in Joshua 6 and 7, he coveted accursed things. It got him untimely death in a disgraceful and painful way. Hannah trusted Him and also obeyed him, her son became the substitute to Eli. Do you trust God with your life as to obey him, whether it is convenient for you or Not. The apostles said in Acts 4:19-20, "...Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Since the years you have claimed to have given your life into Jesus Christ, how obedient and submissive are you to the authority of Jesus Christ over you. Trusting God and obeying Him is highly rewarding - Psalm 34:8. Many benefits we are losing when we fail to trust him and obey him.

To learn trust and obedience to God, let us examine the word of this hymn as was composed by the saints who have gone before us to the feet of the Master, Jesus Christ. Read it line by line and ponder on it. Therefore, henceforth, be a doer of God's word and not just the hearer or speaker alone.

1. When we walk with the Lord

In the light of his word

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will,

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey

Chorus:

Trust and obey, for there's no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey

2. Not a shadow can rise,

Not a cloud in the skies,

But His smile quickly drives it away;

Not a doubt nor a fear

Not a sigh nor a tear,

Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,

Not a sorrow we share

But our toil he doth richly repay;

Not a grief nor a loss,

Not a frown nor a cross,

But is blest if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove

The delights of His love

Until all on the alter we lay;

For the favour He shows,

And the joy he bestows,

Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet

We will sit at His feet,

Or we'll walk by His side in the way;

What He says we will do

Where He sends we will go

Never fear, only trust and obey.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me and my household be able to walk with you and be obedient to your Lordship over us in Jesus name.

CHILDREN: AS ARROWS IN THE HANDS OF THE MIGHTY

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for SUNDAY, 26TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: CHILDREN: AS ARROWS IN THE HANDS OF THE MIGHTY

MEMORIZE: “As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.” Psalm 127:4

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 127:3-5.

“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”

EXPOSITION:

In the increase of the family. the psalmist shows, that children are God's gift, Ps 127:3. If children are withheld from a family, it is God that withholds them (Genesis 30:1-2 “And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die. And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?”); if they are given, it is God that gives them (Genesis 33:5 “And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.”); and they are to us what he makes them, comforts or crosses. Solomon multiplied wives, contrary to the law, but we never read of more than one son that he had.

For those that desire children as a heritage from the Lord, they must receive them in the way that he is pleased to give them, by lawful marriage to one wife.  Mal. 2:15, therefore one, that he might seek a seed of God.

Children are a heritage, and a reward, and are so to be accounted “blessings and not burdens”; for he that sends mouths will send meat if we trust in him. Obed-edom had eight sons, for the Lord blessed him because he had entertained the ark, 1Chronicles 26:4,5 “Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth, Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him.”. Children are a heritage for the Lord, as well as from him; they are my children (says God) which thou hast borne unto me (Eze 16:20 “Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,”); and they are most our honour and comfort when they are accounted to him for a generation.

Children are a good gift, and a great support and defence to a family: As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, who knows how to use them for his own safety and advantage, so are children of the youth, that is, children born to their parents when they are young, which are the strongest and most healthful children, and are grown up to serve them by the time they need their service; they are instruments of much good to their parents and families, which may fortify themselves with them against their enemies. The family that has a large stock of children is like a quiver full of arrows, of different sizes we may suppose, but all of use one time or other; children of different capacities and inclinations may be several ways serviceable to the family. He that has a numerous issue may boldly speak with his enemy in the gate in judgment; in battle he needs not fear, having so many children as good arrows, so zealous, so faithful, and in the vigour of youth.

1Sa 2:4-5 reads “The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.”. Observe here, Children of the youth are arrows in the hand, which, with prudence, may be directed aright to the mark, God's glory and the service of their generation; but afterwards, when they have gone abroad into the world, they are arrows out of the hand; it is too late to bend them then. But these arrows in the hand too often prove arrows in the heart, a constant grief to their godly parents, whose gray hairs they bring with sorrow to the grave.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to channel my children right in your knowledge and fear before it is too late in Jesus name.

RETURN TO GOD

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SATURDAY, 25TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: RETURN TO GOD

MEMORIZE: “I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.” Genesis 31:13.

SCRIPTURE READING: Ruth 1:1- 6

“1 ¶ Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.  2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.  3 And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. 4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. 5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. 6 ¶ Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.”

EXPOSITION:

Elimelech went out of Bethlehem (the house of Bread) with his wife and his two sons to llok for survival in Moab, the strange land, just because of famine. Little did he know that it shall be for his doom. He went out in full without consulting God. He died and his two sons without raising offspring. Leaving Naomi and the two daughters-in-law behind. At this time, God had visited Bethlehem with food and became the envy of other nations.

Naomi then returned, in duty to her people. She had often enquired of their state, what harvests they had and how the markets went, and still the tidings were discouraging; but like the prophet's servant, who, having looked seven times and seen no sign of rain, at length discerned a cloud no bigger than a man's hand, which soon overspread the heavens, so Naomi at last has good news brought her of plenty in Bethlehem, and then she can think of no other than returning thither again. Hew new alliances in the country of Moab could not make her forget her relation to the land of Israel. Note, Though there be a reason for our being in bad places, yet, when the reason ceases, we must by no means continue in them. Forced absence from God's ordinances, and forced presence with wicked people, are great afflictions; but when the force ceases, and such a situation is continued of choice, then it becomes a great sin. It should seem she began to think of returning immediately upon the death of her two sons,

Because she looked upon that affliction to be a judgment upon her family for lingering in the country of Moab; and hearing this to be the voice of the rod, and of him that appointed it, she obeys and returns.  Had she returned upon the death of her husband, perhaps she might have saved the life of her sons; but, when God judgeth he will overcome, and, if one affliction prevail not to awaken us to a sight and sense of sin and duty, another shall do. When death comes into a family it ought to be improved for the reforming of what is amiss in the family: when relations are taken away from us we are put upon enquiry whether, in some instance or other, we are not out of the way of our duty, that we may return to it. God calls our sins to remembrance, when he slays a son, “18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. 19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. 20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.” 1Ki 17:18-20. And, if he thus hedge up our way with thorns, it is that he may oblige us to say, We will go and return to our first husband, as Naomi here to her country, Hosea 2:7 reads “And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.”

Before it is too late, come back to the Lord. Rebelling against God brings His judgment upon the rebel and his household. The affliction you are suffering today may be a signal that you are in the wrong place. God says in Hosea 5:14-15, “For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.”

PRAYER POINT: Lord, restore us back unto you now that we may see your goodness in the land of the living in Jesus name.

TAKING OUT THE PREDATOR

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For FRIDAY, 24TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

TOPIC: TAKING OUT THE PREDATOR

MEMORIZE: "And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons" (ESTHER 9:14).

SCRIPTURE READING: ESTHER 9:13-19

“13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows. 14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons. 15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand. 16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey, 17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.  18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness. 19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.”

EXPOSITION:

Haman was that kind of predator. His ten sons were hanged and the Jews had a relief. Haman was vicious and dangerous. He was not satisfied with crushing Mordecai alone, but also used his privileged position to plot the destruction of the entire Jewish race. Fortunately, God turned things around and the hunter suddenly became the hunted. Haman died an inglorious death on the special gallows he erected for Mordecai. The Jews declared those days as public holidays to celebrate and praise the Lord who turned their sorrow to joy.

Haman had clearly abused his powers and was not only a liability to the human race. He was also morally and spiritually bankrupt. It will be a disaster to have people with this kind of mindset in government or in position of leadership.

Humiliation and disgrace often follow when power is abused and used as a tool of destruction against innocent people. When God, like the daylight sun, eventually arises for His people, the darkness is forced to retreat. The wicked should expect their day in heaven's court sooner or later.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, Help me never to end my life like Haman did. I refused to be an hater of God and His people and kingdom in Jesus name.

WAIT ON GOD

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
THURSDAY, 23RD MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer
Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: WAIT ON GOD

MEMORIZE: "Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us" Psalm 123:2.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 123:1-4.
¹ Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. ² Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the Lord our God, Until He has mercy on us. ³ Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. ⁴ Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud."

EXPOSITION:
It is wise indeed to seek help when under threat or faced with challenging circumstances. The problem is that it is equally in the nature and character of a man to exhaust all his physical options before turning to God as a last resort. But the Lord ought to be our first port of call when we need help. That is the pertinent message conveyed here by the psalmist who was evidently confronted with daunting circumstances.

And he realised early enough that enduring solutions lie nowhere else than in the Lord. He likened himself to a servant expecting deliverance from his master and to a maiden seeking succour from her mistress. Also, he indicated no intention of turning elsewhere until God intervenes in his dire situation. He pleaded passionately with the Lord to have mercy on him and his people who were now pressed hard by enemies. Obviously, the enemies were very confident they would overwhelm the psalmist and his people. Hence, they exceedingly scorned them.

You may be despised by those who think they have the power to determine your fate in life. They may even reproach you for trusting in the Lord to help you. They may frighten and attempt to weaken your faith by boasting of their previous accomplishments in dealing harshly with their enemies. But your only recourse should be to turn to the Lord in prayer.

First ensure, like the psalmist, that the Lord is indeed your God by turning away from all your sins. Then you must pray to Him to have mercy and save you from all your troubles. If you depend on God, He will sooner than later, rebuke the proud and boastful enemies and grant you victory. All you need to do is to wait on God, He will not abandon you. "Wait, I say, on the Lord."

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to trust you with my whole heart, as to wait on you all the days of my life in Jesus name.

HALLELUJAH

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For WEDNESDAY, 22ND MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: HALLELUIAH

MEMORIZE: “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:” Revelation 19:1.

SCRIPTURE READING: Revelation 19:1-6.

“1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: 2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. 3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. 4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. 5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. 6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.”

EXPOSITION:

In the New Testament, ALLELUIAH means “Praise ye Jehovah.”  Halleluiah is the song of the heavenly being. It is praises to God Almighty. It was sung by the twenty-four elders in worship of the majesty of God. It has become the song of the saints too to the Lord. It must be sang in humility and righteousness. Halleluiah is the song of victory and must be sang in righteousness. It is a continuous song in heaven that the saints will be singing without ending.

The word “Alleluiah” occurs at the beginning and at the end of many psalms  (106, 111, 112, 113, etc.).  It was also sung on solemn days of rejoicing as an expression of joy and praise, and as such it has been adopted in the Christian church, and is still used in devotional psalmody, Re 19:1, 3, 4, +6 (106, 111, 112, 113, etc.).

HEAVEN & EARTH JOINED TOGETHER IN WORSHIPPING GOD – Rev. 19:1-6.

1. The form of their thanksgiving, in that heavenly and most comprehensive word, Alleluia, praise you the Lord: with this they begin, with this they go on, and with this they end (Re 19:4); their prayers are now turned into praises, their hosannas end in halleluias.

2. The matter of their thanksgiving: they praise him for the truth of his word, and the righteousness of his providential conduct, especially in this great event--the ruin of Babylon, which had been a mother, nurse, and nest of idolatry, lewdness, and cruelty Re 19:2, for which signal example of divine justice they ascribe salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto our God.

3. The effect of these their praises: when the angels and saints cried Alleluia, her fire burned more fiercely and her smoke ascended for ever and ever, Re 19:3. The surest way to have our deliverances continued and completed is to give God the glory of what he has done for us. Praising God for what we have is praying in the most effectual manner for what is yet further to be done for us; the praises of the saints blow up the fire of God's wrath against the common enemy.

4. The blessed harmony between the angels and the saints in this triumphant song, Re 19:4. The churches and their ministers take the melodious sound from the angels, and repeat it; falling down, and worshipping God, they cry, Amen, Alleluia.

ACTION POINT: Praise God at all time for He is worthy of it. When you praise God from a perfect heart, you join the heavenly host in exalting Him.

WORSHIP HIS MAJESTY

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 21ST MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: WORSHIP HIS MAJESTY

MEMORIZE: “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10.

SCRIPTURE READING: Rev. 4:8-11.

“8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.  9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, 10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

EXPOSITION:

"Worship" is sometimes used of the form of homage paid by subjects to kings, or of honor to one held entitled to it, “Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.” Da 2:46; Lu 14:10.  In the East, this is still often rendered by prostrating the body and touching the forehead to the ground, Genesis 33:3; Matthew 18:26.

Worship of God is the homage rendered to God which it is sinful (idolatry) when render to any created being (Ex. 34:14; Isa. 2:8). Such worship was refused by Peter (Acts 10:25, 26) and by an angel (Rev. 22:8, 9). It is both spiritual and visible, private and public, by individuals, families, and communities. It is not only a self-evident duty for all who believe in God, but is abundantly commanded in his word.

The Lord revealed what is happening in heaven regarding the worship to Apostle John. He heard the song of the four living creatures, of the ministers of the church, which refers to the prophet Isaiah's vision, Revelation 6.  He heard the adoration of the four-and-twenty elders, that is, of the Christian people represented by them; the ministers led, and the people followed, in the praises of God, Re 4:10,11. Here observe,

THE OBJECT OF THEIR WORSHIP, WHOM THE MINISTERS ADORED:

The true church of God has one and the same object of worship: Him that sat on the throne, the eternal ever-living God. It is unlawful to join in divine worship with those who multiply the object. There is but one God, and he alone, as God, is worshipped by the church on earth and in heaven.

THE ACTS OF ADORATION.

(1.) They fell down before him that sat on the throne; they discovered the most profound humility, reverence, and godly fear.

(2.) They cast their crowns before the throne; they gave God the glory of the holiness wherewith he had crowned their souls on earth and the honour and happiness with which he crowns them in heaven. They owe all their graces and all their glories to him, and acknowledge that his crown is infinitely more glorious than theirs, and that it is their glory to be glorifying God.

THE WORDS OF ADORATION:

They said, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honour, and power,” Revelation 4:11.

(1.) They do not say, We give thee glory, and honour, and power; for what can any creature pretend to give unto God? But they say, Thou art worthy to receive glory.

(2.) In this they tacitly acknowledge that God is exalted far above all blessing and praise. He was worthy to receive glory, but they were not worthy to praise, nor able to do it according to his infinite excellences.

THREEFOLD GROUND AND REASONS FOR ADORING:--

(1.) He is the Creator of all things, the first cause; and none but the Creator of all things should be adored; no made thing can be the object of religious worship.

(2.) He is the preserver of all things, and his preservation is a continual creation; they are created still by the sustaining power of God. All beings but God are dependent upon the will and power of God, and no dependent being must be set up as an object of religious worship. It is the part of the best dependent beings to be worshippers, not to be worshipped.

(3.) He is the final cause of all things: For thy pleasure they are and were created. It was his will and pleasure to create all things; he was not put upon it by the will of another; there is no such thing as a subordinate creator, that acts under and by the will and power of another; and, if there were, he ought not to be worshipped. As God made all things at his pleasure, so he made them for his pleasure, to deal with them as he pleases and to glorify himself by them one way or other. Though he delights not in the death of sinners, but rather that they should turn and live, yet he hath made all things for himself, Pr 16:4. Now if these be true and sufficient grounds for religious worship, as they are proper to God alone, Christ must needs be God, one with the Father and Spirit, and be worshipped as such; for we find the same causality ascribed to him. Col 1:16,17, All things were created by him and for him, and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

ACTION POINT: Join the heavenly hosts and the saints on earth to worship God’s Majesty. He is worthy of our worship.

Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

EXPOSITION:

Since God is everlasting, our praises must also be from generation to generation. Unlimited praise is the quality praise that comes from pure heart to the Lord. God demands that we must praise Him with our whole being. Psalm 150 is a psalm of praise to God. The psalmist had been himself full of the praises of God, and here he would fill all the world with them: again and again he calls, "Praise the Lord, praise him, praise him," no less than thirteen times in this psalm.

I. Where does this tribute of praise arises from? It comes,

a. From his sanctuary; praise him there.

Let his priests, let his people, that attend there, attend him with their praises. Where should he be praised, but there where he does, in a special manner, both manifest his glory and communicate his grace? Praise God upon the account of his sanctuary, and the privileges which we enjoy by having that among us, Eze 37:26. Praise God in his holy ones (so some read it); we must take notice of the image of God as it appears on those that are sanctified, and love them for the sake of that image; and when we praise them we must praise God in them.

b. From the firmament of his power.

Praise him because of his power and glory which appear in the firmament, its vastness, its brightness, and its splendid furniture; and because of the powerful influences it has upon this earth. Let those that have their dwelling in the firmament of his power, even the holy angels, lead in this good work. Some, by the sanctuary, as well as by the firmament of his power, understand the highest heavens, the residence of his glory; that is indeed his sanctuary, his holy temple, and there he is praised continually, in a far better manner than we can praise him. And it is a comfort to us, when we find we do it so poorly, that it is so well done there.

II. UPON WHAT ACCOUNT SHOULD WE PRAISE GOD, upon many accounts, particularly,

1. WE SHOULD PRAISE GOD FOR THE WORKS OF HIS POWER (Ps 150:2):

Praise him for his mighty acts; for his mightinesses (so the word is), for all the instances of his might, the power of his providence, the power of his grace, what he has done in the creation, government, and redemption of the world, for the children of men in general, for his own church and children in particular.

2. WE SHOULD PRAISE GOD FOR THE GLORY AND MAJESTY OF HIS BEING:

Praise him according to his excellent greatness.

According to the multitude of his magnificence (so Dr. Hammond reads it); not that our praises can bear any proportion to God's greatness, for it is infinite, but, since he is greater than we can express or conceive, we must raise our conceptions and expressions to the highest degree we can attain to.  Be not afraid of saying too much in the praises of God, as we often do in praising even great and good men. We cannot speak extravagantly of God; all the danger is of saying too little and therefore, when we have done our utmost, we must own that though we have praised him in consideration of, yet not in proportion to, his excellent greatness.

OUR CONCERN IS TO KNOW,

1. That hereby is intimated how full the psalmist's heart was of the praises of God and how desirous he was that this good work might go on.

2. That in serving God we should spare no cost nor pains.

3. That the best music in God's ears is devout and pious affections, not a melodious string, but a melodious heart. Praise God with a strong faith; praise him with holy love and delight; praise him with an entire confidence in Christ; praise him with a believing triumph over the powers of darkness; praise him with an earnest desire towards him and a full satisfaction in him; praise him by a universal respect to all his commands; praise him by a cheerful submission to all his disposals; praise him by rejoicing in his love and solacing yourselves in his great goodness; praise him by promoting the interests of the kingdom of his grace; praise him by a lively hope and expectation of the kingdom of his glory.

4. That, various instruments being used in praising God, it should yet be done with an exact and perfect harmony; they must not hinder, but help one another. The New-Testament concert, instead of this, is with one mind and one mouth to glorify God, Romans 15:6.

IV. Who Must Praise God: (Ps 150:6) Let every thing that has breath praise the Lord.

He began with a call to those that had a place in his sanctuary and were employed in the temple-service; but he concludes with a call to all the children of men, in prospect of the time when the Gentiles should be taken into the church, and in every place, as acceptably as at Jerusalem, this incense should be offered, Malachi 1:11. Some think that in everything that has breath here we must include the inferior creatures (as Genesis 7:22) , all in whose nostrils was the breath of life. They praise God according to their capacity. The singing of birds is a sort of praising God. The brutes do in effect say to man, "We would praise God if we could; do you do it for us." John in vision heard a song of praise from every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, Revelation 5:13.

ACTION POINT: Give God quality praise for who he is and His wonderful works with the whole of your being.

YOUR KINGDOM, O LORD, IS EVERLASTING

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for SUNDAY, 19TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: YOUR KINGDOM, O LORD, IS EVERLASTING

MEMORIZE: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.” Psalm 45:6.

SCRIPTURE READING: Daniel 4:34-35, 37.

“And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.”

EXPOSITION:

Nebuchadnezzar was a great king of his time. Having completed the subjugation of Phoenicia, and inflicted chastisement on Egypt, Nebuchadnezzar now set himself to rebuild and adorn the city of Babylon (Dan. 4:30), and to add to the greatness and prosperity of his kingdom by constructing canals and aqueducts and reservoirs surpassing in grandeur and magnificence everything of the kind mentioned in history (Dan. 2:37). He is represented as a "king of kings," ruling over a vast kingdom of many provinces, with a long list of officers and rulers under him, "princes, governors, captains," etc. (3:2, 3, 27). He may, indeed, be said to have created the mighty empire over which he ruled. "Modern research has shown that Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest monarch that Babylon, or perhaps the East generally, ever produced. He was an earthly example of majesty. But because he was human, he later died. He cannot live forever.

But our Lord Jesus Christ is the Eternal King and His kingdom has no end. In Psalm 45:6, It is God the Father that says to the Son here, Thy throne, O God! is forever and ever, as appears Heb 1:8-9, where this is quoted to prove that he is God and has a more excellent name than the angels.

Let us see what Nebuchadnezzar is at length effectually brought to the acknowledgment of; and we may learn from it what to believe concerning God.

1. That the most high God lives forever, and his being knows neither change nor period, for he has it of himself. No king lives forever, but the God of Israel only, who is still the same.

2. That his kingdom is like himself, everlasting, and his dominion from generation to generation; there is no succession, no revolution, in his kingdom.  As he lives, so he reigns, forever, and of his government there is no end.

3. That all nations before him are as nothing. He has no need of them; he makes no account of them. The greatest of men, in comparison with him, are less than nothing. Those that think highly of God think meanly of themselves.

4. That his kingdom is universal, and both the armies of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth are his subjects, and under his check and control. Both angels and men are employed by him, and are accountable to him; the highest angel is not above his command, nor the meanest of the children of men beneath his cognizance. The angels of heaven are his armies, the inhabitants of the earth his tenants.

5. That his power is irresistible, and his sovereignty uncontrollable, for he does according to his will, according to his design and purpose, according to his decree and counsel; whatever he pleases that he does; whatever he appoints that he performs; and none can resist his will, change his counsel, nor stay his hand, nor say unto him, What doest thou? Woe to him that strives with his Maker, that says to him, What doest thou? Or, Why doest thou so?

6. That everything which God does is well done: His works are truth, for they all agree with his word. His ways are judgment, both wise and righteous, exactly consonant to the rules both of prudence and equity, and no fault is to be found with them.

7. That he has power to humble the haughtiest of his enemies that act in contradiction to him or competition with him: Those that walk in pride he is able to abase (Da 4:37); he is able to deal with those that are most confident of their own sufficiency to contend with him.

THE DEFENDER OF THE AFFLICTED

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SATURDAY, 18TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: THE DEFENDER OF THE AFFLICTED

MEMORIZE: “I know that the LORD will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.” Psalm 140:12-13.

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 25:15-22.

“15 My eyes are ever toward the LORD, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. 16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! 18 Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins. 19 Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. 20 Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. 22 Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles!”

EXPOSITION:

Affliction is used actively as that which causes or tends to cause bodily pain or mental distress, as "the bread of affliction " (Deuteronomy 16:3; 2 Chronicles 18:26 ); It is often used in plural, as "Many are the afflictions of the righteous" (Psalms 34:19);

(2) passively as the state of being in pain or trouble, as "to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction" (James 1:27 ).

The following are the chief forms of affliction referred to in the Bible:

(1) Individual affliction, especially sickness, poverty, the oppression of the weak by the strong and rich, perverted justice.

(2) National. A great place is given in the Old Testament to affliction as a national experience, due to calamities, such as war, invasion, conquest by foreign peoples, exile. These form the background of much of the prophetic writings, and largely determine their tone and character.

(3) In the New Testament the chief form of affliction is that due to the fierce antagonism manifested to the religion of Jesus, resulting in persecution.

David, encouraged by the promises he had been meditating upon, here renews his addresses to God, and concludes the psalm, as he began, with professions of dependence upon God and desire towards him. He lays open before God the calamitous condition he was in. His feet were in the net, held fast and entangled, so that he could not extricate himself out of his difficulties, Ps 25:15. He was desolate and afflicted, Ps 25:16. It is common for those that are afflicted to be desolate; their friends desert them then, and they are themselves disposed to sit alone and keep silence, La 3:28. David calls himself desolate and solitary because he depended not upon his servants and soldiers, but relied as entirely upon God as if he had no prospect at all of help and succour from any creature. Being in distress, in many distresses, the troubles of his heart were enlarged (Ps 25:17), he grew more and more melancholy and troubled in mind. Sense of sin afflicted him more than any thing else: this it was that broke and wounded his spirit, and made his outward troubles lie heavily upon him. He was in affliction and pain, Ps 25:18. His enemies that persecuted him were many and malicious (they hated him), and very barbarous; it was with a cruel hatred that they hated him, Ps 25:19. Such were Christ's enemies and the persecutors of his church.

He expresses the dependence he had upon God in these distresses (Ps 25:15): My eyes are ever towards the Lord. Idolaters were for gods that they could see with their bodily eyes, and they had their eyes ever towards their idols, Isa 17:7-8. But it is an eye of faith that we must have towards God, who is a Spirit, Zec 9:1. Our meditation of him must be sweet, and we must always set him before us: in all our ways we must acknowledge him and do all to his glory. Thus we must live a life of communion with God, not only in ordinances, but in providences, not only in acts of devotion, but in the whole course of our conversation. David had the comfort of this in his affliction; for, because his eyes were ever towards the Lord, he doubted not but he would pluck his feet out of the net, that he would deliver him from the corruptions of his own heart. Those that have their eye ever towards God shall not have their feet long in the net. He repeats his profession of dependence upon God (Ps 25:20)--Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in thee; and of expectation from him--I wait on thee, Ps 25:21. It is good thus to hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me in the days of trouble in Jesus name.

CAN GOD COUNT ON YOU AS A MICAIAH OF THIS GENERATION?

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For TUESDAY, 14TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: CAN GOD COUNT ON YOU AS A MICAIAH OF THIS GENERATION?

MEMORIZE: "When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall." Proverbs 29:16

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Kings 22:13-28.

“And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak. 15 ¶ So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 16 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? 17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. 18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? 19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. 20 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.  21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. 22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. 23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. 24 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? 25 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.  26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son; 27 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace. 28 And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

EXPOSITION:

Micaiah whose name mean “who is like Yah” The son of Imlah, the chief character of an important episode near the end of the reign of Ahab (1 Kings 22:4-28 parallel 2 Chronicles 18:3-27). Ahab had suggested to his friend, Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, that they should undertake a joint campaign against Ramoth-gilead. Jehoshaphat politely agreed, but asked that the mind of Yahweh should first be ascertained. Ahab forthwith summoned the official prophets to the number of 400, into the royal presence. Submissive to their master, they, both by oracular utterance and by the symbolic action of their leader, Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, gave the king a favorable answer. Their ready chorus of assent seems to have made Jehoshaphat suspicious, for he pleaded that further guidance be sought. Micaiah, for whom Ahab, then, with evident reluctance, sent, at first simply repeated the favorable response of the 400; but adjured by the king to speak the whole truth, he dropped his ironical tone, and in sad earnest described a vision of disaster. Ahab endeavored to lessen the effect of this oracle by complaining that Micaiah was always to him a prophet of evil. The latter thereupon related an impressive vision of the heavenly court, whence he had seen a lying spirit dispatched by Yahweh to the prophets in order to bring about Ahab's delusion and downfall. In answer to a rude challenge from Zedekiah, who acted as spokesman for the 400, Micaiah confidently appealed to the issue for proof of the truth of his prediction, and was promptly commuted to prison by the king.

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM MICAIAH

* Micaiah was known for his bravery - he was sidelined because of his message of truth.

* Though hated, yet he would not stop warning & preaching.

* When he was later consulted, he was told to lie.

* He was imprisoned and was fed with bread & water of affliction, yet delivered the message with sign from God.

* He confronted king Ahab and his prophets of Baal with the truth. They were filled with spirit of lie to lure Ahab to his death.

* He stood out for God against the 400 fake prophets uncompromisingly.

* He was not ashamed to suffer persecution for God's sake.

GOD IS STILL SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER MICAIAH!

"30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." Ezekiel 22:30

* God needs men and women like Micaiah, who will not fear or favor men. Paul rebuked Peter in order to restore him back unto God. What are doing to restore the wayward back to God?

* Men who will not be afraid of men's punishment, prison or even death.

* Men who will speak out not mind hatred or criticism.

* Men who will not want praise of men.

* Men who are not glutton; who will not let national cake (gifts) to blind them.

MY DECISION: Lord, I make myself available for your use. I detach myself from every worldly enticement that can silent me. I refused to be and agent of lie and deceit - a messenger of doom. I receive grace to stand out in my generation for Christ andhis righteousness in Jesus name. What is your own decision for Christ in your life?

HE CARES FOR THE ORDINARIES, HE WILL DO BETTER FOR THE FAVOURITES

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for FRIDAY, 17TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: HE CARES FOR THE ORDINARIES, HE WILL DO BETTER FOR THE FAVOURITES

MEMORIZE: “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matt. 6:25-34

"24 Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 "and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

EXPOSITION:

God is the Creator who cares for all his creatures. But men in most of the time not trusting God to meet their needs, this makes them worry about many things called basic needs and other necessities: what shall we eat, what clothe shall we wear, where shall we live? All these are not as important as our lives. If God could care for grasses, animals and fowls of the field that are regarded as ordinary, He will do better for you, who is created in His glorious image – the joint hairs with Christ. He has special plan for you. You are not ordinary in His hand, but specially, wonderfully and fearfully made.

The best remedy against immoderate worry/anxieties is to cast our care upon God, and resign every event to the wise and gracious determination. A firm belief of the rectitude of the divine will and counsels calms the spirit of man. "Throw your cares, which are so cutting and distracting, which wound your souls and pierce your hearts, upon the wise and gracious providence of God; trust in him with a firm composed mind, for he careth for you. He is willing to release you of your care, and take the care of you upon himself. He will either avert what you fear, or support you under it. He will order all events to you so as shall convince you of his paternal love and tenderness towards you; and all shall be so ordered that no hurt, but good, shall come unto you,"

PRAYER POINT: Lord, I receive the grace to trust you with all my burdens and cares; I believe you care for me.

GOD, ANSWER YOUR NAME - 2

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For THURSDAY, 16TH MARCH, 2023.

Author: PASTOR DR. SAMUEL AYORINDE – General Overseer

Anchor of Life & Redemption Ministry Int’l

Topic: GOD! ANSWER YOUR NAME – PART 2

MEMORIZE: “'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'” — Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 91:14-16.

"14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."

EXPOSITION:

The name of God is Strong and Mighty. Knowing Him by His name is the starting point of having relationship with Him. In Psalm 91:14-15, God himself speaks words of comfort to the saints, declaring the mercy he had in store for them, Ps 91:14-16.  Some make this to be spoken to the angels as the reason of the charge given them concerning the saints, as if he had said, "Take care of them, for they are dear to me, and I have a tender concern for them."

TO WHOM DO THESE PROMISES BELONG; They Are Described By Three Characters:

(a) They are such as know God's name. His nature we cannot fully know; but by his name he has made himself known, and with that we must acquaint ourselves.

(b) They are such as have set their love upon him; and those who rightly know him will love him, will place their love upon him as the only adequate object of it, will let out their love towards him with pleasure and enlargement, and will fix their love upon him with a resolution never to remove it to any rival.

(c) They are such as call upon him, as by prayer keep up a constant correspondence with him, and in every difficult case refer themselves to him.

2. WHAT THE PROMISES WHICH GOD MAKES TO THE SAINTS.

(1.) That he will, in due time, deliver them out of trouble: I will deliver him (Ps 91:14 and again Ps 91:15), denoting a double deliverance, living and dying, a deliverance in trouble and a deliverance out of trouble. If God proportions the degree and continuance of our troubles to our strength, if he keeps us from offending him in our troubles, and makes our death our discharge, at length, from all our troubles, then this promise is fulfilled. See Ps 34:19; 2Ti 3:1; 4:18.

(2.) That he will, in the mean time, be with them in trouble, Ps 91:15. If he does not immediately put a period to their afflictions, yet they shall have his gracious presence with them in their troubles; he will take notice of their sorrows, and know their souls in adversity, will visit them graciously by his word and Spirit, and converse with them, will take their part, will support and comfort them, and sanctify their afflictions to them, which will be the surest token of his presence with them in their troubles.

(3.) That herein he will answer their prayers: He shall call upon me; I will pour upon him the spirit of prayer, and then I will answer, answer by promises Ps 85:8, answer by providence, bringing in seasonable relief, and answer by graces, strengthening them with strength in their souls Ps 138:3; thus he answered Paul with grace sufficient, 2Co 12:9.

(4.) That he will exalt and dignify them: I will set him on high, out of the reach of trouble, above the stormy region, on a rock above the waves, Isa 33:16. They shall be enabled, by the grace of God, to look down upon the things of this world with a holy contempt and indifference, to look up to the things of the other world with a holy ambition and concern; and then they are set on high. I will honour him; those are truly honourable whom God puts honour upon by taking them into covenant and communion with himself and designing them for his kingdom and glory, Joshua 12:24.

(5.) That they shall have a sufficiency of life in this world Psalm 91:16: With length of days will I satisfy him; that is, They shall live long enough: they shall be continued in this world till they have done the work they were sent into this world for and are ready for heaven.

(6.) That they shall have an eternal life in the other world.  This crowns the blessedness: I will show him my salvation, show him the Messiah (so some); good old Simeon was then satisfied with long life when he could say, My eyes have seen thy salvation,
