Topic: DESTROY THE POWERS OF EVIL ALTARS

MEMORIZE: “So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the LORD had said to him. But becaus1e he feared his father's household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night.” Judges 6:27.

SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 6:25-27.

“Now it came to pass the same night that the LORD said to him, "Take your father's young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; "and build an altar to the LORD your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down." So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the LORD had said to him. But because he feared his father's household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night.”

EXPOSITION:

Today we want to look at destroying the altars of evil. There are two kinds of altar: 1. Godly Altar and 2. Demonic altar. Godly altar is controlled by God and its worship is directed to God; while demonic altar is controlled by the devil and its worship is directed to devil through demons. Let us look at the significance of altar in general.

i. An altar is a meeting place between the worshiped and the worshippers. It is where the Omnipotent (deity) meets the potent. It is a place of sacrifice for the deity to accept it. It is where we bring the sacrifice to the worshipped.

2. An altar is also the place of exchange – where you give your sacrifice, the deities release their blessing/backup.

3. The altar is a place of empowerment – changing from one stage to another unto perfection/being fortified.

4. Altar speaks – “Then the sixth angel sounded: I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,” Rev. 9:13. If you a regular commuter at the altar, it will speak for you and offer you its benefits. Altar speaks life, it speaks backward to cancel your past sins and takes away your condemnation.

5. The altar is a place of refuge and protection for the worshippers.

Demonic altar is the source where destinies are being wasted. It is a place of no mercy. It is the place where the wicked make the decree of their judgment and execute it. Every altar that is not of God must be pulled down – starting from the household altar to the generational altar. Before Gideon could conquer external enemies, he was commanded to destroy his family demonic altar. This is talking of dissociating himself from demonic attachment. Before your service can be acceptable to God, you must do away with all works of darkness. Abraham, Jacob, Children of Israel under Joshua, Samuel… were at a point consecrated themselves unto God by taking away all idols in order to serve God.

Whatever you allow to stand on that evil altar shall remain established and will become bait unto your destruction. But when you destroy the power behind the altar, you have conquered it. This means it is rendered impotent and useless. Therefore, as children of God, we are given power to resist the devil, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7. We can overcome the forces behind the demonic altar through the name of Jesus “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth...” Phil. 2:9-10; and through the word of God which is “the sword of the Spirit,”. It is never the will of God for you to be dominated and tormented by the devil. The secret of your freedom is to resist the devil and his cohorts; he will surely flee from you. Do not give room for him to destroy your life. 

PRAYER POINT: I stand against the devil and all activities on the evil altar against my life and family in Jesus name.

(Pray deliverance prayers as you are led by the Holy Spirit, renounce his dominion over your life and all that belong to you).
