ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE For SUNDAY, 14TH MAY, 2023.
Topic: HE NEEDS YOUR UNBROKEN RELATIONSHIP
MEMORIZE: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29.
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Corinthians 6:16-18
“And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."”
EXPOSITION:
Years ago, there was a building engineer who went to a construction site with his servant. He was working on the 7th floor and needed to communicate with his servant who was busy doing some works on the ground floor. All attempts to communicate with his servant were proved abortive. At a time, he thought of throwing a note of money to him, believing this would make him look up to where the money comes from. He then threw #200 but instead of looking up to where the money comes from, he took the money and pocket it, then continue doing what he was doing.
At another time, the master threw #500 note, yet the servant repeated his action by pocketing it without minding where it comes from. At third time, the master threw #1,000 note, yet he unchanged in his attitude. At this time, the master thought of what he can do to gain the attention of his servant, he then threw stone from up on his head, at this time, he was shocked in pain and looked up immediately to know who wants to harm him. Then and there, the master was able to pass his message.
In the same way we act today. We seem soon forget God when we are in pleasure and prosperity. Sometimes, we attribute our success and breakthrough to our human efforts and connections. We forget that grace and mercy brings unmerited favor on our way. God bring us to Himself to have an unbroken fellowship with Him. But in most cases, people only come to seek the Lord for the blessings of His hand, and not because of their true love for Him.
We are not just redeemed of the Lord. We, the Christians, are by profession and in reality the temples of the living God--dedicated to, and employed for, the service of God, who has promised to reside in them, to dwell and walk in them, to stand in a special relation to them, and take a special care of them. He has promised that he will be their God and they shall be his people. Now there can be no agreement between the temple of God and idols. Idols are rivals with God for his honour, and God is a jealous God, and will not give his glory to another. In regards to this, God is looking for our attention to be used for His honour. Make yourself available for God. The earlier we give Him our attention, the more blessed we are before the Lord. Be available for God now and build an unbroken relationship with God.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to build an unbroken relationship with you all through my lifetime in Jesus name.
