GOD’S REWARD TO THE FAITHFUL

ANCHOR OF LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE for MONDAY, 24TH  OCTOBER, 2022.

Topic: GOD’S REWARD TO THE FAITHFUL

MEMORIZE: “"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' "  Matthew 25:21.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 25:14-30

“14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 "And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 "Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 "And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 "But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. 19 "After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 "So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.' 21 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' 22 "He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.' 23 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' 24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 'And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.' 26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 'So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 'Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 'And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'”

EXPOSITION:

God’s promise is part of His faithfulness, as He will never deny his word. He watches over us in all we say and do. He thereby rewards everyone according to his/her deeds. It is written, “…for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. Also He said in Revelation 22:11-12 that, “He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” These are some of the promises of God for the faithful as recorded in the Scripture:

1. God is faithful to them are faithful – “With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless.” Psalm 18:25.

2. His eyes are on them to watch over them – “My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me; He who walks in a perfect way, He shall serve me.” Psalm 101:6.

3. He preserves them from evil – “Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person.” Psalm 31:23.

4. He guards their lives – “You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 97:10.

5. He protects them – “He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.” Proverbs 2:8.

6. He blesses them – “'And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 'then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.  'And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.'” Deut. 11:13-15.

7. He does not forsake them – “For the LORD loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.” Psalm 37:28.

8. He rewards them – "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'” Matthew 25:21, 23

9. He guarantees them life – “If he has walked in My statutes And kept My judgments faithfully-He is just; He shall surely live!" Says the Lord GOD.” Ezekiel 18:9.

PRAYER POINT: Lord Jesus Christ, help me to always remember that I am your steward, and help me to be faithful to you and humanity in all that is expected of me.
